2nd Workshop on Cryptography for Ad hoc Networks
July 16th, 2006
location: S. Servolo Island, Venice, Italy
A Satellite Workshop of the 33rd International Colloquium on Automata,
Languages and Programming (ICALP 2006)
web page: http://www.argreenhouse.com/society/wcan06/wcan06page.html
________________________________
CALL FOR PAPERS
Wireless ad hoc networks are today receiving a lot of attention for
militar, commercial and civilian applications, thus raising several
challenging security, privacy and anonimity research questions. The
security research community has mainly focused on securing routing and
is only recently widening its scope of analysis to other security
areas. The cryptography research community has mainly focused on
abstract models of networks like the Internet; however, cryptographic
protocols for the Internet face serious challenges to be adapted to
the ad-hoc, partial-connectivity, mobile, resource-constrained and
infrastructureless nature of ad-hoc networks. The aim of this workshop
is to help bridging this gap, towards a more comprehensive
investigation of security and cryptographic tools, analysis and
modeling methodologies over ad hoc networks, by bringing together the
cryptography, network security, and wireless networking communities.
We seek submissions containing original research on all aspects of
cryptology that are motivated by their applicability to ad hoc
networks, including wireless, cellular, sensor, mesh, peer-to-peer and
RFID-based networks. Short surveys of related sub-areas are also
encouraged. The following is a non-exhaustive list of topics that are
of interest to this workshop, when clearly motivated by and clearly
focusing on ad hoc networks (cryptology papers not focusing on or not
describing applications to ad hoc networks do not fit in the workshop
interest area):
- Modeling of cryptographic tasks
- Solutions to cryptographic tasks under party mobility
- Solutions to cryptographic tasks under resource constraints
- Secure routing
- Bootstrapping of security associations
- Distributed public-key infrastructures
- Key-agreement, key-management and key-(pre)distribution
- Entity authentication
- Trust establishment
- Privacy-enhancing technologies
- Threshold cryptography
- Identity-Based cryptography
- Policy-based cryptography
- Secure multi-party protocols
- Security in distributed algorithms and protocols

Dear Friends,
Please find enclosed below a call for papers for a special number of China
Communications. This is a magazine with extensive circulation in China, in
which I think that the results of our workgroups in E-NEXT would fit very
well. This would also imply "reaching out" and try to disseminate the
results of E-NEXT in such a booming and promising place as China. I received
the news today, but the deadline is quite short: 15th May.
I make advantage of this e-mail to give you the latest news on the review. I
was told that we would receive the results tomorrow, so I will circulate
them as soon as I get them.
Best regards, Arturo

Dear Oliver Wellnitz,
Please ignore this message if you have receive this message more than once.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We are inviting potential authors to submit papers for the forthcoming
conference through the conference website at www.dime2006.org
DIME 2006 is intended to be the definitive point of interaction between
entertainment software developers and academic and industrial researchers.
This conference is targeted at both the research and commercial
communities, promoting research and practice in the context of interactive
digital entertainment systems with an emphasis on commercial computer and
video games. Computer entertainment and network gaming's ability to
generate a culture which immerses and absorbs its participants has made it
an object of new millennial 'moral panic'. And in many ways, it is. The
phenomenal success of popular culture to initiate a mass audience in
patterns and practices of its own consumption has supported the evolution
of an enormously powerful mass entertainment industry extending deeply into
every aspect of our lives. This conference is dedicated to building common
ground between research, design and development, learning and collaboration
in its myriad forms: its object is the exploration of 'education & play',
demonstrating new arenas and applications for digital gaming and
incorporating leading edge technologies, designs and models in our changing
views about what is involved in gaming. This conference will bring together
academics, technologists, artists, designers, and industry representatives
to help define, refine, and advance the leading edge of new digital and
interactive media art and technology.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Sigcomm 2006 - Workshop on Challenged Networks (CHANTS-06)
Pisa, Italy - September 15, 2006
http://chants.cs.ucsb.edu/
=====================================================================
Technical Area:
Challenged networks include those found in mobile and in-motion
networking, dynamic wireless networks, heterogeneous and mobile
sensor networks, interplanetary networking, and networks providing
rural connectivity. Such networks are not well served by standard
TCP/IP solutions, due to the prevalence of disconnection, disruption,
intermittency, large delays, or other factors.
Today, the most successful network architecture is that of the
Internet. It has scaled well beyond the original plan of its
designers, and the Internet Protocol has been carried on a great
number of underlying protocols, including itself. However, the
Internet's protocol architecture suffers some problems when
implemented on classes of networks for which it was not originally
designed. For example, when disconnection and reconnection is common,
or link performance is highly variable or extreme, one or more of the
traditional Internet protocols do not work well. In this workshop, we
wish to explore physical networks that operate significantly
differently from wired, connected networks and the protocol
architectures and algorithms used to deal with such situations.
Techniques for making applications tolerant to disruptions and/or
high delays are also in scope. More specifically, we solicit papers
in the following areas:
- Characterization of performance-challenged networks,
e.g. network measurements.
- Networking systems operating over unusual/challenged networks.
- Protocol design and evaluation of operations over challenged
networks.
- Robust network application design and implementation techniques.
- Delay tolerant and disruption tolerant networks (DTN).
- Situated and autonomic communications for challenged networks.
- Handling user concerns in challenged networks such as usability,
privacy, security and incentives to cooperate.
Submissions may include presentations of specific systems or
performance measurements, as well as more general, philosophical
position papers. Papers that bring out interesting and novel ideas at
an early stage in their development are favored over highly polished,
journal-style results. Selected papers will be forward-looking, with
impact and implications for ongoing or future research. We aim to
accept around 15 papers, and to have a highly interactive workshop
focusing on broader issues and community development.
Paper Format and Submission:
All submitted papers should be formatted according to the ACM
SIG proceeding template found here:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html
In particular, this format uses 9pt font in two columns with
particular margin sizes. Papers must be no longer than eight pages
and must be in PDF format. Papers will be reviewed single blind,
which means be sure to include author information on the first page
after the title and before the abstract. Papers that do not adhere
to these requirements exactly (or attempt to cheat on spacing or
fonts) will not be accepted for submission. All papers should be
submitted via EDAS. For more details please visit the CHANTS webpage:
