CALL FOR PAPERS: 3rd ACM* PE-WASUN 2006
-------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd ACM* International Workshop on Performance Evaluation of
Wireless Ad Hoc, Sensor, and Ubiquitous Networks
http://ares.insa-lyon.fr/pe-wasun06
Torremolinos, Malaga, SPAIN, October 2-6, 2006
Jointly with the 9th ACM/IEEE MSWiM Symposium
http://www.cs.unibo.it/mswim2006
*ACM Pending upon Approval

IMPORTANT: Full paper due: June 10th, 2006
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Scope:
Wireless ad hoc, sensor, along with ubiquitous networks have recently
witnessed their fastest growth period ever in history, and this trend
is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. However, as such
networks become increasingly complex, performance modeling and
evaluation will play a crucial part in their design process to ensure
their successful deployment and exploitation in practice.
This workshop brings together scientists, engineers, and
practitioners to share and exchange their experiences, discuss
challenges, and report state-of-the-art and in-progress research on
all aspects of wireless ad hoc, sensor, and ubiquitous networks with
a specific emphasis on their performance evaluation and analysis.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Probabilistic or predictive performance models and analysis of ad
hoc, sensor, pervasive and ubiquitous networks
- RF channel capacity modeling and analysis
- Traffic models for ad hoc, sensor networks
- Mobility modeling and management
- Analytical modeling
- Simulation methods
- Tracing and trace analysis
- Performance measurement, monitoring and evaluation tools for ad hoc,
sensor and ubiquitous networks
- Software tools for automatic network performance and evaluation
- Network performance improvements by optimization algorithms
- Energy-efficient protocols for ad hoc and sensor networks
- Wireless mesh networks
- Case studies demonstrating the role of performance evaluation in the
design of ad hoc, sensor, and ubiquitous networks

Dear colleagues,
Please note that the paper submission deadline of the 2nd Int'nal
workshop on Wireless Measurements and Modeling (WiTMeMo'06) has been
extended to May 15th, 2006.
Best,
Maria
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Second International workshop on Wireless Traffic Measurements and Modeling
(WiTMeMo'06)
August 5, 2006 Boston
http://www.witmemo.org/
in conjunction with the
Second Annual International Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scope
-----
The rapid deployment of wireless infrastructures in various
environments triggers new applications and services that in turn
generate a richer set of traces for analysis. There is a need for
more realistic models of traffic, mobility, and association patterns.
This can be beneficial in capacity planning, administration, and
deployment of wireless infrastructures, protocol design for wireless
applications and services, and their performance analysis.
The Wireless Traffic Measurements and Modeling workshop is intended to
serve as a forum for scientists and engineers in academia and industry
to exchange and discuss their experiences and research results about
all aspects of measurements and modeling of applications, usage,
access, load, and mobility in wireless networks. It will also initiate
discussions on how to use these models to improve the performance of
wireless networks. Furthermore, it aims in enhancing and accelerating
the process of sharing traces, implementations, and test suites.
In this workshop, we would like to solicit short, 6-page papers that
report on experiences obtained from operational wireless experiments in
testbeds or the field. Along with regular presentations we plan to have
invited speakers and/or panel discussions that encourage more active
participation of the attendees.
Topics of particular interest include but are not limited to:
* Methods for collecting and analyzing measurements in different
wireless environments (infrastructures, sensor networks)
* Workload characterization and traffic analysis
* User mobility modeling
* Measurements and predictions of user access over multiple networks
*Software tools in support of measurements
* Measurement-based inference of network properties (for normal or
abnormal behavior, network topology, hot spots)
* Design of monitoring systems, sampling methods, and anomaly detection
* Temporal and spatial evolution of wireless networks
* Evaluation of forecasting algorithms for wireless traffic load
* Comparative analysis on different wireless networks
* Techniques for improving the repeatability of tests

Computer Networks (LCN) November 14 -16, 2006.
Workshop Objectives
In Recent years, wireless and mobile communication systems have become
increasingly popular as an inexpensive and promising means for ubiquitous
communications. However, without creating a new set of issues and
trade-offs. The performance and resource management of wireless and mobile
communication systems are becoming a very crucial phase for future
generation of wireless and mobile networks.
P2MNet 2006 serves as a forum for researchers from academia, industry
and research labs, for presenting recent research results in Wireless and
Mobile Networks. The conference features prominent invited speakers as
well as papers by top researchers in the field. P2MNet 2006 will include
contributed technical papers, invited papers, and panel discussions. The
proceedings will be published by IEEE-CS press.
Call for Papers
P2MNet is intended to provide an international forum for the discussion
and presentation of original ideas, recent results and achievements by
researchers, students, and systems developers on issues and challenges
related to Performance and Management of Wireless and Mobile Networks.
Authors are encouraged to submit both theoretical and practical results of
significance.
The scope of the workshop includes, but is not limited to:
o- Performance and management of mesh and Bluetooth networks.
o- Performance and resource management of wireless ad hoc and sensor
networks.
o- Performance and management of wireless multimedia systems.
o- Resource allocation.
o- Power Control and energy management.
o- Wireless network design and management.
o- Measurement, analysis, modeling, and generation.
o- Traffic measurement (wireless TCP, etc..).
o- Billing and wireless web services.
o- (3G/4G wireless billing systems, GPRS billing, etc..).
o- Web-Based wireless management.
o- Wireless security management.
o- Wireless Network planning.
o- Wireless Intelligent Networks.
o- Performance and Management of Broadband Wireless Management.
o- Management and monitoring of wireless and mobile systems.
o- User mobility modeling.
o- Topology construction and maintenance.
o- Interoperability, and performance of heterogeneous wireless networks of
different standards.
Important dates
Submission Deadline: July 1st, 2006.
Notification of Acceptance: July 31, 2006
Camera Ready version due: August 25, 2006
Workshop and LCN presentation: November 14-16, 2006 in Tampa, USA
IMPORTANT: ATTENDANCE BY AT LEAST ONE AUTHOR IS MANDATORY
Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit full or short papers for presentation at
the conference. Full papers (no more than 10 pages, in IEEE format)
should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the
conference.
Only original papers that have not been published or submitted for
publication elsewhere can be submitted. Papers in excess of page limits
shall not be considered for review or publication. All papers must include
title, complete contact information for all authors, abstract, and
keywords on the cover page. The corresponding author must be clearly
identified.
Authors are required to submit their papers through the EDAS web site
(http://www.edas.info/)
The authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be
presented at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper
must be registered for the conference in order for that paper to appear
in the IEEE LCN proceedings and to be scheduled for presentation.
