An increasing number of articles dealing with the graphics, the robotics or the artificial intelligence of games are to be found in journals dedicated to those topics. Moreover, during recent years various new journals have been founded dealing with aspects of games design. However, more general questions about the programming of games have not received much attention of late. To fill this gap, the team of Science of Computer Programming (SCP) decided to dedicate a special issue to all aspects of games programming including formal methods, tools and languages. SCP is an International journal of Elsevier that focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of software systems development, maintenance and use. SCP is a quality journal that guarantees high visibility and a fast track for publication. The guest editor solicits high-quality, new contributions that may address (but need not be limited to) the following questions: * Which programming languages are being used and why? * Have any extensions of programming languages been developed, particularly for games? * What generative (3rd generation) systems are currently available? * What can be said about methodology, life cycle and quality control?. * Are there any specific problems related to the programming of massive multi player games? * What can be said about the system administration of massive multi player games? * What software agents are being used? The design of data communication techniques in multi-hop ad hoc networks has challenges at all layers of communication. This workshop concentrates on the network layer problems like data communication (routing, QoS-routing, geocasting, multicasting, broadcasting, etc.) and topology control (neighbor discovery, power adjustment, neighbor elimination, etc.). Additionally, sensor networks are currently recognized as one of the priority research areas by NSF. The area of sensor networking is gaining momentum within the researh community. This workshop will address ongoing research on this field, including problems such as: physical properties, sensor training, security through intelligent node cooperation, medium access, sensor area coverage with random and deterministic placement, object location, sensor position determination, energy efficient broadcasting and activity scheduling, routing, connectivity, data dissemination and gathering, sensor centric quality of routing, temporal message ordering, path exposure, tree reconfiguration, topology construction, and transport layer. The main paradigm shift is to apply localized (or greedy) schemes as opposed to existing protocols requiring global information. Localized algorithms are distributed algorithms where simple local node behaviour achieves a desired global objective. Localized protocols provide scalable solutions, that is, solutions for wireless networks with an arbitrary number of nodes, which is the main goal of this plan. Sensor and rooftop/mesh networks, for instance, have hundreds or thousands of nodes. The main objective of the workshop is to present state of the art research results on data communication and topology control in rapidly growing area of ad hoc and sensor networks, with emphasizes on localized techniques. Telemedicine systems can utilize well established and developing wireless technologies and standards such as various Wi-Fi based networks for the reliable delivery of medical information and provision of life-saving services. A wide range of medical applications can be supported by technological advancements in wireless communication systems in conjunction with biosensors. These systems often operate in harsh outdoor environments, especially when accidents are often caused by heavy rainfall, where the wireless communication link can be severely affected by various conditions. Under any situation, they must operate reliably at all times in order to support mission-critical services. Such diverse range of services can only be reliably supported by having the appropriate quality assurance methodology and information security in place. Cable networks and the Internet are not sufficient to support applications in some environments. People may require news on the web in hazardous environments. Moreover, in the presence of infrastructure, traffic bottlenecks of terrestrial networks and traditional links could make the service highly inefficient, if not useful. Therefore, there is increasing commercial interest to use wireless in modern telecommunications systems such as local area services, interactivity and possibility of building networks adapted to the different needs; tele-learning; managing activity of the Public Administration; bank and financial services; industrial activity located remotely; broadcasting and backbone access; international connections; tele-medicine; data recovery; video-surveillance; application in rural environments; applications for vehicles, trains and planes; and tactical communications, among others. Offering real services with a specific guarantee of Quality of Service (QoS) over wireless systems (including WLAN, radio and satellite) is very challenging as it implies the need to solve challenging research and development issues due to the peculiarity of the application environment. This issue of Computers and Electrical Engineering (C & EE) Journal is aimed at soliciting recent original and previously unpublished research results that deal with technological solutions, protocols, applications, performance analysis of Wireless Networks, including WLANs, WMANs, radio networks, 3G and beyond systems, military tactical and satellite networks. NPSec focuses on two general areas.
