Scope and Motivation:
Social applications, multimedia, and games play a substantial role in
shaping Internet traffic and have emerged as dominant mode of social
interaction online. This recent trend has sparked significant research
interests, both at the network level and in terms of application and
service development. Moreover, with the advent of the metaverse, research
focus within these domains has expanded to encompass virtual worlds,
immersive experiences, and social interactions in virtual environments.
Given their increasing prevalence and interdisciplinary nature, social
applications, multimedia, and games have also garnered research attention
across diverse fields, including big data analytics, cloud computing,
artificial intelligence, data sensing, information security, and privacy
protection.

Von: Massimo Tornatore

An: itc(a)COMSOC.ORG
Dear colleagues,
IEEE TNSM Special Issue on topic related to network resilience is renewed
also for this year.
Deadline is Nov 1^st 2024. Sorry for multiple postings.
*
*
*IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management*
*Special Issue on*
*Resilient Communication Networks for an Hyper-Connected World*
Resilience of communication infrastructures is a top priority for network
operators. To ensure resilient network operation, new design and management
techniques must be constantly devised to respond to the rapid network and
service evolution. As a recent and relevant example, deployments of 5G and
6G communication networks require network infrastructures to support new
ultra-reliable services with availability of up to 9 nines. Similarly,
disaster resiliency in communication networks is now attracting the
attention of media, governments, and industry as never before (consider,
e.g., the worldwide network traffic deluge to support remote working during
the recent COVID19-pandemic!). Furthermore, governments are not only
investing to increase the coverage and capacity of their networks, but also
the reliability and sovereignty of their networks so that they are more
secure and robust against attacks and unstable markets. Fortunately,
several new technical directions can be leveraged to improve network
resilience, including increased network adaptability enabled by network
softwarization (e.g., Software Defined Networking (SDN));
integration/convergence of multiple technologies (optical, wireless,
satellite, datacenter networks); enhanced forms of data/service replication
that is supported by edge computing; network slicing used to carve
highly-reliable logical partitions of network, computing and storage
resources. These, and many other technological transformations can enable
next-generation high-reliability networks.
Given the strong interest in both industry and academia towards reliability
of telecom networks and cloud-computing infrastructures, we organize this
fifth IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM) Special
Issue on Resilient Communication Networks for an Hyper-Connected World (the
first issue published in September 2021). This Special Issue aims at the
timely publication of recent and innovative research results on this
important topic. This Special Issue is organized in collaboration with the
organizers of the International Conference on the Design of Reliable
Communication Networks (DRCN), a well-established forum for scientists from
both industry and academy who have interest in reliability and resilience
of communication networks.
We welcome submissions addressing important challenges (see the list of
topics below) and presenting novel research or experimentation results.
Survey papers that offer a perspective on related work and identify key
challenges for future research will be considered as well. /We look forward
to your submissions!/

*****************************************************************************************
The 20th Wireless On-demand Network systems and Services Conference (WONS 2025)
January 27 - 29, 2025
Hintertux, Zillertal, Tyrol, Austria
https://2025.wons-conference.org/
*****************************************************************************************
Wireless on-demand network systems and services have become mainstream
technologies that
shape the networked world of the future. Different types of wireless LANs,
both sub-6 GHz
and in higher frequency bands, as well as such established technologies as
Bluetooth LE,
LTE-Direct, LTE ProSE, NR sidelink, NFC, and optical links are the
cornerstone of
networking paradigms including NextG cellular, mesh and sensor networks,
cloud networks,
vehicular networks, non-terrestrial networks, and in-body networks.
The challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. These include
providing
robust services in highly dynamic, mobile, and extreme environments, how to
minimize
energy demands or zero out battery usage in favor of renewable energy
sources, how to
smartly blend multiple wireless technologies available to a network node
(including
across radically different bands), and how to make wireless on-demand
networks and
services self-configurable, adaptive, self-organizing, and self-healing in
a variety
of different context, each exhibiting its own peculiar constraints.
IFIP WONS, now at its tenth edition, has established itself as a
high-quality forum
to address the above and related challenges. WONS 2025 aims to continue
providing a
global platform for rich interactions between experts in their fields,
discussing

The 22nd ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys 2024)
4-7 November 2022, Hangzhou, China
https://sensys.acm.org/2024/ <https://sensys.acm.org/2024/>
=================================================================
*** Important dates ***
Submission Deadline September 23rd, 2024, 23:59 AoE.
Notification of Acceptance October 3rd, 2024, 23:59 AoE.
Camera Ready Submission October 14th, 2024, 23:59 AoE.
***Call for Posters and Demos***
ACM SenSys 2024 welcomes exciting demonstrations of novel technologies,
applications, and hardware for networked embedded sensing as well as
posters showing promising early work. We seek participation from both
industry and academia for demonstrations and posters. Selection will be
based on a short abstract, evaluated based on technical merit and
innovation as well as the potential to stimulate interesting discussions
and exchange of ideas at the conference. Accepted abstracts will appear in
the regular conference proceedings. At least one author of every accepted
demonstration or poster abstract is required to register and attend the
conference.
***Poster Abstracts ***
We welcome all topics that align with the SenSys main conference. Poster
abstracts should report on research work where at least some preliminary
results are available, but they need not necessarily describe completed
work. An easel will be provided for all posters. All poster abstract
submissions must strictly adhere to the formatting guidelines specified below.
***Demo Abstracts ***
Demo abstracts should describe both the technology being showcased as well
as the user experience of the demo. All demo abstract submissions must
strictly adhere to the formatting guidelines specified below. Tables,
power, and wireless connectivity will be provided. If a demo requires
additional special arrangements, please describe them clearly in your
submission using a separate third page (not part of the technical content
of the abstract).
***Submission and Formatting Instructions***
Abstract submissions should be no more than 2 pages and must follow a
double-column format. All figures, appendices, and references must fit
within this limit. Your submission must be in PDF format with all fonts
embedded, and be formatted according to the official ACM Proceedings
format. Submissions that do not meet the page limit, size, and formatting
requirements will not be reviewed. Word and LaTeX templates are available
here. Please note that you must use the “Strict Adherence to SIGS style”
template option. Note that ACM uses 9-pt fonts in all conference
proceedings, and the style (both LaTeX and Word) implicitly define the font
size to be 9-pt. Please refer to the Publication chair's notes. Reviewing
is single-blind and submissions should list author names on the front page.
Due to the short interval between the notification of acceptance and the
camera-ready deadline, we strongly encourage authors to follow the
camera-ready formatting guidelines as closely as possible even for the
initial abstract submission.
Please submit your work: https://sensysposterdemo24.hotcrp.com/
<https://sensysposterdemo24.hotcrp.com/>
***One-minute Madness***
Authors of accepted abstracts will deliver a 1 minute or less preview talk
about the main ideas. How you use this one-minute presentation time is up
to you. We will strictly enforce the 1-minute time limit. We encourage
presenters to fill the minute to give the audience an overview of your
poster or demo. "Advertise" your poster or demo so that people will want to
come to see your demo or talk to you about your poster. This type of event
is always a lot of fun! You can be creative in your presentation too.
***Poster and Demo Co-Chairs***
Luca Mottola, Politecnico di Milano
Siyao Cheng, Harbin Institute of Technology
Xiuzhen Guo, Zhejiang University
