Sept 29 - Oct 1, 2014, Paderborn, Germany
******************************************************************************
SSS is an international forum for researchers and practitioners in the
design and development of distributed systems with self-* properties such
as self- stabilizing, self-configuring, self-organizing, self-managing,
self-repairing, self-healing, self-optimizing, self-adaptive, and
self-protecting. Research in distributed systems is now at a crucial point
in its evolution, marked by the importance of dynamic systems such as
peer-to-peer networks, large-scale wireless sensor networks, mobile ad hoc
networks, robotic networks, opportunistic networks etc. Moreover, new
applications such as grid and web services, banking and e-commerce,
e-health and robotics, aerospace and avionics, automotive, industrial
process control, etc. have joined the traditional applications of
distributed systems. We particularly encourage the submissions spanning
these areas of applications.
The conference provides a wide spectrum of topics, covered in the following
tracks:
* Self-stabilization
* Fault-tolerant and Dependable Systems
* Formal Methods, Safety, and Security
* Ad-hoc, Sensor and Mobile Networks, Cyberphysical Systems
* Cloud Computing, P2P, Self-organizing and Autonomous Systems
IMPORTANT DATES
* Abstract Submission: April 16, 2014 (UTC-12)
* Paper Submission: April 21, 2014 (UTC-12)
* Notification: June 9, 2014
* Camera Ready Submission: July 4, 2014
PAPER SUBMISSION
Papers must be prepared using the LNCS style and be electronically
submitted in PDF format using EasyChair (
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sss2014). Two types of papers
can be submitted: Regular Papers and Brief Announcements. Submissions for
regular papers should be no longer than 15 pages (including the title,
authors, abstract, figures, and references) in LNCS style; a submission may
have an appendix of at most two pages beyond the 15 page limit. Brief
announcements are restricted to two pages using the LNCS style, with no
appendix. Submissions deviating from these guidelines will be rejected
without consideration of their merits. If requested by the authors, a
regular submission that is not selected for a regular presentation will
also be considered for a brief announcement. This request must be clearly
indicated in the first page of the paper. Such a request will not affect
consideration of the paper for a regular paper. A paper submitted at this
forum is expected to be original research not previously published. A
submission may not be concurrently submitted to another conference,
workshop, or journal.
PUBLICATION
The proceedings of the conference will be published in the Springer
Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.Selected papers
will be published in the Journal of Self-Computing (
http://www.worldscientific.com/worldscinet/jsc).
BEST PAPER AND BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARDS
The program committee will select two papers for best paper and best
student paper awards. A paper is eligible for the best student paper award
if at least one of its authors is a full-time student at the time of
submission. This must be clearly indicated in the first page of the paper.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The Internet is being extended beyond its traditional boundaries (i.e.,
areas with network
infrastructure) through gradually incorporating a wide-range of
challenging networks and autonomous devices. From traditional wireless
networks to opportunistic networks of mobile devices in urban
environments and deep-space communications, the new approaches require
an efficient integration with the traditional wired infrastructure. The
need for novel all-weather protocols, clean-slate or evolutionary
architectures, merging and assembling of different network technologies,
unified operation and management of the heterogeneous components and
supports for new multimedia services are only few examples of the wide
range of technologies building-up this new global network. WWIC
addresses research topics such as the design and evaluation of
protocols, the dynamics of the integration, the performance tradeoffs,
the need for new performance metrics and cross-layer interactions. The
goal of the conference is to present high-quality results in the field,
and to provide a framework fo!
r research collaboration through focused discussions that will
designate future research efforts and directions.
The proceedings will be published by Springer in the series Lecture

CALL FOR PAPERS
-----------------------------------
Capacity Sharing Workshop (CSWS'14)
-----------------------------------
in conjunction with ACM SIGCOMM 2014 conference, on August 18, Chicago, USA.
Changing usage behavior, increasing demand for bandwidth as well as a
continuous trend towards virtualizing networks and network functions raise
questions on how to share limited capacity resources fairly and more
efficiently while maintaining the best possible Quality of Experience (QoE)
for users. While efficiency is most important when resources are spare,
fairness need to be evaluated based on the different quality requirements of
the various Internet services that we have today. For example, the Internet,
especially the mobile Internet, was mostly engineered to provide a low loss
service, low-latency services are not well supported today. In data centers,
virtualization and high utilization promise economic benefits. However,
effective, yet practical capacity sharing between tenants and
applications is
an important requirement. This has led to the development of enhancements in
capacity sharing, especially congestion control mechanisms – some of these
mechanisms are domain-specific, others lend themselves to adoption or
generalization for inter-connected networks.
The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers in the
area of
network and transport protocols in the Internet as well as data centers and
their applications to advance the state of research on capacity sharing. We
solicit contributions on the state-of-the-art, results of ongoing research,
open issues, trends and new ideas. We want to encourage researchers to
consider the problem space over all layers.
Topics
------
Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to
* Network, transport, and application layer as well as cross-layer
solutions,
e.g. in the area of AQM, congestion control, or connection start-up
* Application-layer models and requirements especially for interactive and
real-time media services in fixed and mobile networks
* Context-aware resource allocation especially in cellular/fixed access
networks and fixed/mobile convergence
* Multi-tenancy capacity sharing and isolation in virtual networks
* Approaches to reduce latency with or without network support (e.g ECN) and
latency measurements
* QoE/QoS mapping, metrics and measurements
* Traffic management, classification and characterization in the
Internet and
data centers
* Fairness definitions and economic aspects on capacity sharing
* Related standardization activities, projects and regulatory constraints

Call for Papers
26th International Teletraffic Congress
September 09-11, 2014, Karlskrona, Sweden
"Teletraffic Contributions Towards a Sustainable World"
http://www.itc26.org
After years of traffic growth, network over-provisioning policies have
shown their limitations. Thus, traffic modeling and analysis have
regained an important role to the provisioning of performance models,
evaluation methods, monitoring and management approaches that allow for
efficient dimensioning of network resources for various network
technologies and communication requirements. In fact, such tools are of
utmost importance for increased sustainability of communication
solutions, which in turn improve the sustainability of environment,

CALL FOR PAPERS
PWSN 2014
6th International Workshop on Performance Control in Wireless Sensor
Networks
http://www.netrl.cs.ucy.ac.cy/pwsn2014/
May 28 2014, Marina Del Ray, California, USA
In conjunction with the 10th IEEE International Conference on
Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS '14)
=========================================================================
Most existing wireless sensor network (WSN) installations have in common
that they are not considered time-critical. No immediate action has to
be undertaken as a response to the received data. However, many emerging
WSN applications such as plant automation and control, smart cities or
health care applications require immediate and guaranteed actions. In
such environments, data has to be transported reliably and in time
through the sensor network. In some scenarios, data even has to travel
through the sensor network and the Internet to reach the destination. In
this situation the overall system spanning the Internet and sensor
networks must provide together the required performance characteristics.
Due to the lack of appropriate models, components and protocols, it is
currently very difficult to construct and operate a WSN with performance
guarantees. Thus, the commercial success of wireless sensor networks in
many application areas is unsure unless this particular problem is
understood and solved.
The PWSN workshop aims at bringing together researchers and
practitioners designing and deploying sensor networks that have to meet
specific performance targets.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
--------------------------------------------------
• Communication protocols with deterministic performance
• Network resilience, fault tolerance, network survivability
• Sensor data quality, integrity, and availability
• Performance-aware middleware
• Real-time operating systems for sensor networks
• Actuation and control
• Programming abstractions for deterministic sensor networks
• Impact of security features on network performance
• Experience with real-world deployments and applications
• Performance management of deployed sensor networks
• Timely data storage, retrieval, and processing
• Performance modelling and performance evaluation
• Configuration and installation support
• Performance debugging and performance optimization
