ICIN 2025 solicits original, unpublished work not currently under review by
other conferences or journals.
Digital transformation is at the heart of our society. This evolution is
made possible by the deployment of a network, computing and service
infrastructure that is highly sophisticated in terms of its size, the
diversity of its components and the range of uses it allows. Such an
infrastructure is made of a large set of heterogeneous hardware/software
components resulting in a system of systems whose availability,
reliability, performance, interoperability and energy efficiency are
becoming major challenges. In order to overtake them, there is a need to
automate the full cycle of the continuum.
A special focus will be set on the conference theme “*Towards full life
cycle automation in the IoT-edge-cloud continuum**”. *
Areas of interest and topics include, but are not limited to:
*– Intelligent network service management*
•Intelligent end-to-end service configuration
•Intelligent and cooperative management models across heterogeneous network
segments from IoT to Cloud and back
•Intelligent, resilient and robust schemes**in the IoT-edge-cloud continuum
service management
•Enablers for cross-network intelligence and services trustworthiness
•Intelligent and flexible networks and services for high adaptability
•Support of intelligent network service management by digital twins
•Distributed intelligence in B5G/6G networks
*– IoT-edge-cloud continuum and intelligent softwarized networks evolution
and life cycle*
•Intelligent edge for vertical industries
•Digital twins challenges for the IoT-edge-cloud continuum life cycle
automation
•Vehicular cloud services
•Industrial networks and services for an intelligent automation
•Functional decomposition and orchestration, service chaining
•Communication protocols for ultra-low latency and ultra-high reliability
•Fog, edge and multi-access computing and networking
•Security, trust and privacy
*– Enablers and services for intelligent wireless and mobile networks*
•Network and service architecture, protocols, application-network layer
interworking
•Scalability and multi-tenancy in beyond wireless, cellular and emerging
networks

IEEE JSAC Special Issue on Co-design of Communication, Computing, and
Control in Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems
Call for Papers
-------------------
Cloud-Fog Automation is a newly proposed digitalized industrial automation
architecture enabled by next-generation communications, which represents a
fundamental paradigm shift from the traditional ISA-95 model. The
overarching goal is to accelerate the convergence and synergy of
communications, computing, and control towards next-generation industrial
cyber-physical systems. It is a network-centric architecture, where cloud
and fog technologies are leveraged collaboratively to achieve determinism
in connectivity, networked computing, and intelligent networked control.
Consequently, industrial applications can be realized independent of
vendor-specific hardware and software, and further provided as a service
with varying degrees of technical and infrastructural requirements,
translating into significant business benefits. With the deployment of new
wireless technologies to empower almost-deterministic ultra-reliable
low-latency communications, a joint design of optimal control and resource
management techniques is emerging for time-critical industrial
cyber-physical systems, and it is also imperative that functional safety
and security of such systems are not compromised. Another focus will be on
system-wide/application-level performance, driven by “goal-oriented
communication” in the underlying communication technologies. There are
currently many open research challenges to enable Cloud-Fog Automation,
therefore, a deliberate rethink and research in co-designing and
synergizing communications, computing, and control is required.
Specifically, research in deterministic industrial networking, computing
virtualization, and networked control/estimation for time-sensitive
cyber-physical systems will open many potential avenues for novel
applications, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI)-empowered digital twins,
industrial robots, virtual and augmented reality in advanced manufacturing,
and so forth.
This Special Issue aims to provide a forum for the latest advances in
industrial communications, computing and control co-design, and endeavors
to promote research, innovations, and applications to bridge the gap
between theory and applications. We solicit high-quality original research
papers on topics including, but not limited to:
- Novel design metrics and optimization methodologies for communication,

CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS
---------------------------
The Web of Things (WoT) envisions semantic interoperability by re-using
well-accepted standards and technologies that have enabled the World Wide
Web (WWW). Unlike stack-oriented solutions (e.g., ZigBee), WoT proposes to
achieve system interoperability at the application layer by abstracting
from the sensing and communication technologies: in a rough approximation,
Things are represented using Web technologies and interactions with Things
are mapped to uniform RESTful concepts.
This workshop invites original research articles and review articles that
focus on the Web of Things and interoperability challenges in IoT scenarios.
---------------------------
TOPICS
---------------------------
-Interoperability in the Internet of Things
