ITG/GI/GMM -Workshop Cyber-Physical Systems - Enabling Multi-Nature Systems (CPMNS 2012) aufmerksam machen, der vom 17. - 18. April 2012 im Dormero Hotel Königshof in Dresden stattfinden wird. Beigefügt erhalten Sie den Call for Papers. Im Mittelpunkt des Interesses steht der domänenübergreifende Entwurf von heterogenen eingebetteten Systemen mit gemeinsamen mikro- und nanoelektronischen und nichtelektronischen Komponenten - wie z.B. optischen, mechanischen, thermischen, fluidischen, akustischen oder biologischen Systemen. Die Thematik umfasst sowohl die Sicht auf Cyber-Physical Systems als Ganzes (Spezifikation, Modellierung, Entwurf, Beispiele) als auch deren Systemkomponenten (Sensoren, Aktoren, spezielle elektronische Komponenten) und ihre Anwendung. The program committee will evaluate each paper using metrics that are appropriate for the topic area. For example, a systems or experimental paper in the protocol area will be evaluated based on the innovations in the protocol design, practical implementation, and realistic evaluation, whereas a more theoretical paper may be evaluated mostly based on innovation within the design of the algorithm and its provable properties. At the same time, the evaluation of wireless and mobile networking technologies is challenging because of the significant impact that the physical environment has on performance. For this reason, all papers must carefully describe and justify the evaluation methodology that is used and identify its strengths and weaknesses. The program committee will referee all papers, and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Challenges Papers ------------------- The conference also strongly encourages the submission of short papers in the field of mobile computing and wireless networking that present revolutionary new ideas or that challenge existing assumptions prevalent among the research community. These Challenges Papers should provide stimulating ideas or visions that may open up exciting avenues and influence the direction of future research. Descriptions of new products or evolution of existing work are not appropriate topics for papers in this category. While an exhaustive evaluation of the proposed ideas is not necessary, insight and in-depth understanding of the issues is expected. Challenges Papers will be reviewed by the MobiCom program committee and will be part of the technical program and published in ACM MobiCom proceedings. They should be submitted using the same submission procedure adopted for the full papers. The title of these papers must start with the word "Challenge:" i.e., "Challenge: Rest of the Title." Submission Instructions ------------------------- All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Authors should prepare a PDF version of their full paper. Papers must - be no longer than 12 pages (8 pages for "Challenges" papers), - be in font size no smaller than 10 points, - have pages in double column format with each column having dimensions 9.25 inches × 3.33 inches, a space of 0.33 inches between the two columns, and with no more than 55 lines of text per column, and - fit properly on US letter-sized paper (8.5 inches × 11 inches). All submitted papers will be judged based on their quality through double-blind reviewing, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers. Detailed instructions to authors on preparing a double-blind manuscript will be posted here shortly. Authors' names must not appear anywhere in the paper or in the PDF file. Submitted papers must be original work, and a paper with substantial similarity must neither be already published, nor be currently under review for publication in any other venue. However, for many operators, growth in traffic is not match by the same growth in revenue. There is an increasing awareness of the environmental impact of both wireless networks and the Internet in general. Many operators have thus made commitments to reduce the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with their networks. The objective of this workshop is to build on the success of the first two Greenet workshops to discuss these issues in detail. One major area where advances may be made is in moving towards more energy efficient network deployments which employ a mix of network components, such as macro-cell base stations, relays, picocells and femtocells to provide coverage and support high traffic demands. A second important avenue of research relates to new technologies and algorithms that can be deployed within the radio of each device to reduce energy consumption. This workshop particularly encourages contributions with blue sky thinking on how future technologies can be substantially more energy efficient than current systems. We invite five page paper submissions not previously published and are not currently under review for publication from researchers and practitioners active in the field of Green Wireless Communications and Networks covering (but not limited to) the following topics: 1. The integration of heterogeneous networks in multi-access and multi-operator environment is revolutionizing the ICT area, introducing new opportunities, better communication channels and an enhanced quality of provided applications and services. In this environment, a user is able to connect to a number of heterogeneous RATs (Radio Access Technologies), either covering the same, or complementing geographical areas. These networks can be macro-cellular, WLANs, femto-cellular or even ad-hoc. In this environment, seamless mobility is coupled according to user preferences, enabling mobile users to be "Always Best Connected" (ABC) so that Quality of Experience is optimized and maintained. Topics CONWIRE 2012 will collect latest research ideas and issues on the convergence among heterogeneous wireless systems in Future Internet. Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs) are the confluence point where the traditional fields of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), robot networks and control theory meet. In WSAN, nodes collaborate to accomplish distributed sensing and actuation tasks. Leveraged by the control and mobility of actors, the networking process and applications embrace a whole new set of possibilities. Actors may deploy, repair and relocate sensors to improve coverage, build routes and fix network partition to ensure data communication, change network topology to shape routing patterns and balance energy consumption, and respond to reported events in a timely and effective manner. The benefits are limited only by imagination. As an emerging field, WSANs are in need of new networking techniques, by which they can fully exploit their particularities and potentials. WiSARN aims to bring together state-of-the-art contributions on the design, specification and implementation of architectures, algorithms and protocols for current and future applications of WSAN. Original, unpublished contributions are solicited in ALL aspects of WSANs, WSNs, robot networks, and robotics and automation. The integration of heterogeneous networks in multi-access and multi-operator environment is revolutionizing the ICT area, introducing new opportunities, better communication channels and an enhanced quality of provided applications and services. In this environment, a user is able to connect to a number of heterogeneous RATs (Radio Access Technologies), either covering the same, or complementing geographical areas. These networks can be macro-cellular, WLANs, femto-cellular or even ad-hoc. In this environment, seamless mobility is coupled according to user preferences, enabling mobile users to be "Always Best Connected" (ABC) so that Quality of Experience is optimized and maintained. Topics CONWIRE 2012 will collect latest research ideas and issues on the convergence among heterogeneous wireless systems in Future Internet. This Special Issue addresses the trend in both science and industry for smart embedded devices (smart objects) to become IP-enabled, as well as the latest frontier of the Internet, consisting of wireless low-power embedded devices-called the Wireless Embedded Internet. It also targets the development and implementation of new fundamental architectures for the efficient support of IoT technologies, where many resource limitations can be faced and various network mechanisms will be optimized by providing new middleware architectures that will face application-specific issues. Additionally the Special Issue aims to present novel middleware architectures and techniques for optimizing the power consumption, connectivity and reliability aspects, as well as aims to propose new models for capacity and data flow management for providing sufficient end-to-end resource management. Performance evaluation can be performed using simulation in order to evaluate the performance under different efficiency angles. Software engineering (SE) support is therefore sought, not only to ease the development task but also to make it more reliable, dependable, and repeatable. Nevertheless, this topic has received so far very little attention by the SE community. SESENA12 aims to attract researchers belonging to both the SE and WSN communities, not only to exchange recent research results on the topic, but also to stimulate discussion about the core open problems and to define a shared research agenda. The workshop welcomes both research contributions and position statements. The former will foster in depth technical discussions of novel results with an audience composed of both SE and WSN researchers. The latter will provide the opportunity for presenting open problems, provocative views, or previously unexplored ideas in an informal fashion. SESENA12 will also host two special sessions: (i) a "speakers’ corner" composed of impromptu presentations where attendees (including those without accepted papers) will have the opportunity to present their own views in very short segments (e.g., 2-4 minutes), and (ii) a session dedicated to the VISION project, an FP7 ERC Starting Grant focusing on developing an innovative infrastructure for real-time sensing services. In the latter session, the intermediate project results will be presented with the dual goal of sharing the uniqueness of the ERC-style grants and discussing technical elements to identify possible future collaborations. Topics of interest: The workshop focuses on software engineering issues arising in networked (embedded) sensing systems and their possible integration in Internet of Things scenarios. The opportunistic exploitation of extemporary contacts among the users of the network paves the way to a number of applications but also poses new and challenging problems to the networking research community. The AOC 2012 workshop aims at serving as a meeting point for people working in the area and a forum for exchanging ideas, discussing solutions, and sharing experiences among researchers, professionals, and application developers, both from industry and academia. As with the previous five editions of the AOC workshop series, the scope of this year's workshop will remain on general issues related to opportunistic networking and computing. Yet, AOC 2012 will have a primary interest in new directions of opportunistic communications, such as service composition techniques, scenarios of co-existence with infrastructure networks, and insights to their operation coming from other disciplines such as game theory and cognitive psychology. The workshop will solicit original papers addressing theoretical and practical aspects of autonomic and opportunistic communications but also papers describing prototype implementations and deployments.
