Authors are invited to submit technical demonstrations (no more than 3 pages) showing innovative and original research. The authors are encouraged to highlight the research component of the demo and explicitly mention the novelty of the showcased technology/solution. The proposal should include one page that describes what conference participants will be able to see or experience during the demonstration. IEEE LCN is looking for demonstrations in all topics covered by the main conference and/or the symposium held in conjunction with LCN 2022. Research prototypes as well as commercial products are welcome. All accepted papers will be published in the IEEE LCN 2022 proceedings. ## Demo Submission Proposals (no more than 3 pages) must be submitted via EDAS to the LCN Demo Track: https://www.edas.info/newPaper.php?c=29289&track=110127 Papers must be registered on EDAS and submitted in PDF format following the appropriate templates. Detailed submission instructions are available at the conference website. Demonstrations will be selected based on their merits and expected interest from the LCN attendance. All demo proposals will be reviewed by the members of the Demo Board via an EDAS score sheet. The scores will be provided to the authors along with the notification. ## Demo Presentation All accepted demo paper shall be presented. The presentation will be organised in a parallel session dedicated to face-to-face demo. Demo presenters will have the opportunity to perform live demos while also answering questions from the audience. In addition, authors of accepted demos will also be asked to record a video, which will be made available for attendees during the conference, to best showcase their demo. A best demo award will be awarded to the demo with the most votes from the audience. ## Important Dates (tentative) Demo Abstract submission deadline: June 3, 2022 Acceptance Notification: June 23, 2022 Final camera ready: July 15, 2022 ## Registration for Demos For conference registration, a demo is regarded as a paper, i.e., * demo presenters with no accepted conference or symposium papers must select “demo-author registration" when registering for the conference * demo presenters with accepted LCN or symposium papers incur no extra charge for a demo. The conference registration will cover their demo. For each accepted demo, at least one author is required to register for the LCN 2022 main conference and present their demo at the scheduled demo session(s). For example, Industrial Internet applications, Augmented Reality, Tactile Internet require ultra-low latency measured in single-digit milliseconds and do not tolerate jitter at all. Economic pressures mandate increasingly cloudification of real-time applications with precision service level needs. Many of those applications are mission-critical and cannot afford any loss in connectivity or even single packets. Collectively, these applications require networking services that support high-precision and predictable service levels with associated guarantees that border on determinism. This requires a rethinking of many of the principles underlying existing "Best Effort" internetworking technology. Various approaches are emerging that try to tackle those challenges. Data centers with fixed topologies and a constant number of hops rapidly replace conventional routing and more general Internet topologies. Networks are becoming more programmable to allow to custom-tailor and optimize treatment of packets and flows. Related technologies range from Service Function Chaining to Network Slicing to SDN. While 5G is making URLLC at the network edge a reality, momentum for Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G is building to push the boundaries of precision services beyond the edge and across the core. One overarching question concerns how these technologies can be harnessed and what additional approaches are needed to be able to actually deliver on high-precision networking with service levels that are predictable and that can be guaranteed. This will involve advances across all networking planes, including but not limited to approaches for the programming and processing of packets in the data plane, evolved control interfaces and ultra-low latency control loops to optimize service levels in the control-plane, methods for high-precision measurements and telemetry with nanosecond accuracy at scale, as well as advances in the related platforms and algorithms in the management plane. This special issue focuses on challenges and solution approaches to deliver, manage, control, monitor, and measure high-precision network services that provide applications with predictable service levels that can be guaranteed. This includes (Ultra) Low-Latency networks, deterministic networks, 6G, etc. The special issue specifically encourages submission of papers that describe disruptive concepts, innovative solutions, testbeds, experiments, in addition to more evolutionary approaches. For example, Industrial Internet applications, Augmented Reality, Tactile Internet require ultra-low latency measured in single-digit milliseconds and do not tolerate jitter at all. Economic pressures mandate increasingly cloudification of real-time applications with precision service level needs. Many of those applications are mission-critical and cannot afford any loss in connectivity or even single packets. Collectively, these applications require networking services that support high-precision and predictable service levels with associated guarantees that border on determinism. This requires a rethinking of many of the principles underlying existing "Best Effort" internetworking technology. Various approaches are emerging that try to tackle those challenges. Data centers with fixed topologies and a constant number of hops rapidly replace conventional routing and more general Internet topologies. Networks are becoming more programmable to allow to custom-tailor and optimize treatment of packets and flows. Related technologies range from Service Function Chaining to Network Slicing to SDN. While 5G is making URLLC at the network edge a reality, momentum for Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G is building to push the boundaries of precision services beyond the edge and across the core. One overarching question concerns how these technologies can be harnessed and what additional approaches are needed to be able to actually deliver on high-precision networking with service levels that are predictable and that can be guaranteed. This will involve advances across all networking planes, including but not limited to approaches for the programming and processing of packets in the data plane, evolved control interfaces and ultra-low latency control loops to optimize service levels in the control-plane, methods for high-precision measurements and telemetry with nanosecond accuracy at scale, as well as advances in the related platforms and algorithms in the management plane. This special issue focuses on challenges and solution approaches to deliver, manage, control, monitor, and measure high-precision network services that provide applications with predictable service levels that can be guaranteed. This includes (Ultra) Low-Latency networks, deterministic networks, 6G, etc. The special issue specifically encourages submission of papers that describe disruptive concepts, innovative solutions, testbeds, experiments, in addition to more evolutionary approaches. This result can be obtained with a transition from a centralized, cloud-based architecture to an interoperable and decentralized dynamic architecture. This transition will allow achieving highly efficient and responsive services by locating the data processing close to the data source, in the edge. Moreover, edge computing allows bringing AI-based IoT solutions in areas where connectivity is scarce and where in general resources are limited, for example in rural or remote areas. Consider, for example, the so-called TinyML solutions, a fast-growing field of machine learning technologies capable of performing on-device data analytics at extremely low power, typically in the mW range. All papers for IEEE SECON 2022 must be submitted via the conference submission page. Each submission must be no longer than 9 pages and in font size no smaller than 10 points. Submissions that violate the formatting guidelines will be rejected without review. All submitted papers will be judged based on their quality and relevance through double-blind reviewing, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers.
