These all enable the vision of CPS by allowing human beings to interact with the physical world and serve critical functions in our lives. Given the popularity of the CPS applications, securing them against malicious activities is of utmost importance. Otherwise, malfunctioning and insecure CPS devices and applications can cause enormous damage to individuals, businesses, and nations. Therefore, the International Workshop on CyberPhysical Systems Security (CPS-Sec) seeks novel submissions describing practical and theoretical solutions to the cyber security challenges facing CPS. Submissions may represent any application area for CPS. Hence, papers that are pertinent to the security of embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, Smart-Grids, Critical Infrastructure Networks, Transportation Systems, and Medical Devices are all welcome. The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority. After studying and evaluating the announcements, guidance, and news released by relevant national departments, the Organizing Committee of IEEE SECON 2020, in concert with the Steering Committee and IEEE, has decided that the conference will run as a virtual conference (i.e., using remote audio/video support) and not as an in-person event. The symbiosis between UAVs and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) started quite naturally: UAVs perform remote sensing, act as data-mule that carry the data collected by the WSN. Evolving WSN in Internet of Things (IoT) devices, single or multiple Drones/UAVs can cooperatively provide services that require efficient protocols where multiple objectives and constraints should be accounted. For this workshop, we search for papers that combine design of algorithms, optimization, and test-bed to develop the theoretical foundations for the UAV systems operating in symbiosis with WSN in IoT applications. The numerous emergent applications nurtured by IoT may require an interdisciplinary approach, involving techniques from algorithm foundations and different areas, such as robotics, artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, machine learning. The current trend is towards the development of connected machines able to interact with each other as well as to send data and access cloud and Internet services. In particular, real-world industrial use cases are usually characterized by stricter Quality of Service (QoS) requirements compared with traditional IoT applications, especially in terms of reduced latency, limited (or no) packet loss, wide and guaranteed bandwidth. Moreover, the integration of consolidated Operational Technology (OT) processes and relatively novel Information Technology (IT) services poses novel challenging issues in terms of safety and security (e.g., cyber-attacks could compromise the functionalities of machines also representing a risk for human operators). Smart components and services within industrial environments represent a novel and promising solution not only to better support QoS requirements, but also to more easily reconcile safety requirements of OT with the openness and dynamicity typical of the IT. Moreover, the emergence of edge devices equipped with relatively high computational, memory, and storage capabilities facilitates the adoption of these technologies. They are not only able to increase the efficiency of existing industrial processes, e.g., by more promptly identifying faulty machines to reduce the downtime and maximize OLE/OEE KPIs, but also to provide new business opportunities, e.g., by widening the market offering industrial equipment based on pay-per-use fees. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners interested in or working on innovative solutions for smart services in industrial environments. Experimental use cases based on real-world testbeds are particularly welcome. However, UTs are constrained by limited resources, such as CPU computing power, storage space, energy capacities, environmental awareness and complex computing tasks. To solve the above contradictions, one effective way is to offload complex computing tasks from UTs either to remote cloud servers or nearby edge servers. Compared to cloud servers, edge servers are closer to UTs and thus achieve lower latency; however, edge servers have low computing capacity while cloud servers have relatively sufficient computing power. Therefore, edge computing and cloud computing can cooperate and complement with each other in terms of computing, storage, and communication facilities. The combination of edge and cloud computing will make task execution faster, cheaper, and more stable. This thematic series is devoted to state-of-the-art research covering concepts of task offloading technologies for IoT applications. It is of great significance to the rapid promotion of collaboration between Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). Combined with advances in big data analytics, big computing, and big networking technologies, machine learning provides a mechanism for carrying out big modeling and intelligence, and has achieved great success in a number of fields. Despite these achievements, the leveraging of machine learning in IoT faces significant challenges to achieving artificial intelligence-enabled Internet of dependable and controllable things, and must take into account the exceptional requirements for connectivity, latency, scalability, accessibility, security, and resiliency that IoT systems pose. The seamless integration of machine learning into IoT systems thus creates opportunities for novel research and necessitates interdisciplinary efforts to solve these challenges. Best, Michele Polese, Marco Giordani, Michele Zorzi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special Session – Future trends for standardization and design of vehicular networks Recent evolution of the automotive industry have enabled the development of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs), with the goal to promote increased traffic efficiency and enhanced safety for vehicles and pedestrians. Wireless networks can fully unleash the potential of CAVs by promoting cooperation among vehicles and the fixed infrastructure on roads and highways, and this has motivated the study of different technologies for vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications (also jointly referred to as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) networking). As of today, the two main radio technologies that support V2X communications are 3GPP Cellular-V2X (C-V2X) and IEEE 802.11p. These, however, will not completely fulfill the foreseen challenging requirements (in terms of, e.g., ultra low latency, and ultra high reliability and throughput) of future vehicular services. This motivates the design and analysis of next-generation V2I and V2V networks, with the introduction of new, more capable technologies. In this regard, the 3GPP and the IEEE are presenting new study items, specifications and standard drafts on future vehicular networks. 3GPP NR-V2X extends the specifications of 3GPP NR to support sidelink communications, and integrates in vehicular networks the flexibility of the NR frame, protocol stack and spectrum usage. Similarly, IEEE 802.11bd targets communications in the usual 5.9 GHz band, but also in the unlicensed mmWave spectrum. The usage of a heterogeneous set of spectrum bands and technologies (sub-6 GHz, mmWaves, VLC) could benefit future connected services, but, at the same time, introduces the need for new research and standardization efforts that range from channel modeling, to the design of the full-protocol stack, with challenges at the physical, MAC, network and transport layers. This special session aims at collecting original contributions that can advance the state of the art on the design challenges for V2X networks, with a focus on three main areas of interest. First of all, we look forward to submissions that discuss 3GPP and IEEE standardization efforts, as well as of new services, applications, business models and trials of V2X networks. Second, it is of particular interest the analysis and design of channel models, physical layer, beam and/or mobility management, resource allocation, network and transport layer schemes for next-generation V2X, with a focus also on mmWave and VLC communications. Finally, this special session welcomes papers on the application of learning techniques in vehicular scenarios, and on security and privacy concerns for V2X, especially if linked to standard proposals and developments. An edge system is composed of any computing and networking resources along the path between data sources and cloud data centers. Depending on the specific computing needs, edge computing devices can use either a wireless or a wired connection to exchange messages with the data sources. ACM SenSys brings together academic, industry, and government professionals to a single-track, highly selective forum that takes a broad view on the areas of computing relevant to the future of networked embedded sensor systems. Topics of interests include, but are not limited to, the following: • New platforms and hardware designs for networked sensor systems • New communication paradigms for ubiquitous connectivity • Low-power wireless media access control, network, and transport protocol designs • Systems software, including operating systems, network stacks, and programming • System services such as time and location estimation • Low-power operation, energy harvesting, and energy management • Resource-efficient machine learning for embedded and mobile platforms • Mobile and pervasive systems with elements of networked sensing • Data management and analytics, including quality, integrity, and trustworthiness • Learning algorithms and models for perception, understanding, and adaptation • Heterogeneous collaborative sensing, including human-robot sensor systems • Security and privacy in networked sensor applications and systems • Fault-tolerance, dependability, and verification • Applications and deployment experiences We invite technical papers describing original ideas, groundbreaking results, and real-world experiences involving innovative networked embedded sensor systems. Successful submissions will explain why the topic is relevant to a vision of the future of sensing systems. Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. Submission Guidelines Submitted papers must be unpublished and must not be currently under review for any other publication. Submissions must be full papers, at most 12 single-spaced 8.5" x 11" pages with 9-pt font size in two-column format, including figures and tables. As for references, submissions may include as many pages as needed. All submissions must use the LaTeX (preferred) or Word styles found here. LaTeX submissions should use the acmart.cls template (sigconf option), with the default 9-pt font. This format will be used also for the camera-ready version of accepted papers. Authors must make a good faith effort to anonymize their submissions. Papers that do not meet the size, formatting, and anonymization requirements will not be reviewed. We require each paper to be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and submitted through the conference submission system. Papers that describe experiments on human subjects, or that analyze nonpublic data derived from human subjects (even anonymized data), should briefly describe how the research protocol addresses ethical considerations and whether their work was vetted by an ethics review (e.g., IRB approval). We expect authors to follow the rules of their host institutions around data collection and experiments with human subjects. Accepted submissions will be available on the ACM digital library at most two weeks before the conference. In order for these technologies to be accepted by laypersons, they must be user-friendly. This is made possible by increasingly sophisticated human-machine interfaces of today's information and communication (ICT) systems. Such systems, on the one hand, communicate with humans, on the other hand they require external services which they obtain from a globally networked environment. Therefore, "communication" in such settings refers to both the communication between technical systems as well as the communication between ICT systems and humans. While the reliance on external services offers great opportunities for the development and deployment of adaptive algorithms, it also comes with risks, both for security and safety. The challenges inherent in this research area cover various disciplines of computer science ranging from embedded systems, systems engineering, telecommunication, mobile computing, computational theory, cryptography, computer graphics and computer vision to artificial intelligence. The SENSYBLE workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners from various disciplines of computer science who work in the area of enhancing living environments with information and communication technologies. In the past decade, the research community have produced proven solutions to build low-power mesh networks. Traditionally, the focus has been on short-range radio communication (e.g., ZigBee, Bluetooth, and ZWave.). An appealing alternative that have gained momentum in the IoT landscape, is to equip the nodes with long-range low power radio modules. As a result, long-range radio communication technologies (e.g., SigFox, LoRa, NB-IoT, and 802.15.4g) are considered as candidate technologies for many low-power wide area network (LPWAN) applications, especially those that require extended coverage such as citywide sensing, environmental monitoring, or remote infrastructure monitoring. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners working in the field of IoT from both academia and industry, to discuss and explore short- and long-range solutions, the tradeoffs between these two paradigms, as well as how they can be used in synergy. In order to push the state of the art, several points need to be addressed: new features for the long-range technologies (i.e., over-the-air updates, roaming), radio resource management, regulations and policies on spectrum usage and sharing, business case analysis that are more well suited for certain vertical markets. The forum will offer: - a constructive environment for doctoral students to discuss their ongoing work with a panel of experienced researchers in the field; - an opportunity for the participants to initiate a personal network with both other Ph.D. students and research experts outside of their own group. The forum will be structured as a series of short presentations by the students, followed by individual discussions and feedback. In addition, the participants are also expected to present a poster in a poster session open to the attendees of WoWMoM main conference in order to increase the visibility of their ongoing work and gather further feedback. While the Ph.D. forum is primarily a venue to present ongoing rather than completed work, in this abstract, the Ph.D. thesis statement should be clearly identified including the problem addressed, the contribution expected to the field, the methodology chosen, the results achieved so far, and the work planned ahead. The abstract shall also include a short paragraph with information on how long they have been in the Ph.D. program, the expected timeline towards graduation, and the name of the supervisor(s). The student should be the sole author, although contributions of others (e.g., the advisor) should be acknowledged. Submissions will be reviewed by the Ph.D. forum committee to ensure quality, relevance, and potential benefit from attendance to the forum. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to participate in person in the forum. Accepted submissions will be published as part of the main conference proceedings. Moreover, the integration of consolidated Operational Technology (OT) processes and relatively novel Information Technology (IT) services poses novel challenging issues in terms of safety and security (e.g., cyber-attacks could compromise the functionalities of machines also representing a risk for human operators). Smart components and services within industrial environments represent a novel and promising solution not only to better support QoS requirements, but also to more easily reconcile safety requirements of OT with the openness and dynamicity typical of the IT. Moreover, the emergence of edge devices equipped with relatively high computational, memory, and storage capabilities facilitates the adoption of these technologies. They are not only able to increase the efficiency of existing industrial processes, e.g., by more promptly identifying faulty machines to reduce the downtime and maximize OLE/OEE KPIs, but also to provide new business opportunities, e.g., by widening the market offering industrial equipment based on pay-per-use fees. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners interested in or working on innovative solutions for smart services in industrial environments. Experimental use cases based on real-world testbeds are particularly welcome. An edge system is composed of any computing and networking resources along the path between data sources and cloud data centers. Depending on the specific computing needs, edge computing devices can use either a wireless or a wired connection to exchange messages with the data sources. IoT devices and sensors can then exploit the hierarchical structure of the edge and cloud system to analyze the collected data and provide useful information to users in a timely manner. For example, wearable sensors could use the computing resources of the user’s smartphone, laptop, or even smart vehicle to analyze the collected data. Because a large majority of edge devices are battery operated and have limited connectivity, the energy efficiency of computation becomes critical. Submissions and Anonymity Papers submitted to the conference will be reviewed through a double-blind review process, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers (and that of the reviewers from the authors). Achieving this goal requires some care to, on the one hand, preserve the anonymity of your submission, while on the other hand ensuring proper coverage of related past work, including your own. While this may seem challenging, the few basic steps listed below will go a long way towards achieving the desired outcome: • Remove all authors' identifiers, e.g., names, emails, and affiliations, from the title page. • Remove acknowledgments to and identifiers of funding sources. • Use anonymous names for your files, as source file names are often embedded in the final output you generate, and therefore accessible as comments. • When referring to your own related work, refer to it in the third person as you would with any other related work by another author. Besides anonymizing your submission, double-blind reviewing also imposes additional requirements on both authors and reviewers. Specifically, while it is permissible for authors to give local talks on their work and release their paper on a non-peer-reviewed location, e.g., and institutional repository or even arXiv, care should be exercised to limit public exposure as much as possible. This includes refraining from advertising the work on mailing lists and public forums, and in general limiting as much as possible the odds that program committee members be exposed to the work and the authors’ identity. Conversely, program committee members will be advised to neither actively seek to “reverse engineer” the authors’ identity, nor to directly share with other program committee members any such information they may have acquired. All questions regarding possible breaches of the anonymity covenant that underlies the double-blind review process will be adjudicated by the Program co-Chairs. Best Paper Award and Fast-Track Journal Publication One of the accepted papers will be selected for a best paper award. Up to two of the best papers from ICNP may be fast tracked in the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, with a streamlined journal review process. Presentation and Registration Requirements It is IMPERATIVE that at least one of the authors of any accepted paper register for the conference at the full rate and be available to present the paper at the conference. Failure to comply with this policy will result in the paper’s withdrawal from the conference proceedings and IEEE Xplore. Exceptions to this policy will only be granted for truly mitigating circumstances and must be approved by the Program co-Chairs before the beginning of the conference. GI-Jahrestagung INFORMATIK2020, September 29 - October 01 2020, Kongresszentrum Karlsruhe http://comsys.ovgu.de/TCoNS The Internet of Things (IoT) and related future networking concepts promise the ubiquitous availability of data. Applications can aggregate and evaluate relevant sets of data, and they can provide highly flexible, context-aware services, which can interact with each other and form a new type of emergent behavior. The workshop addresses current research related to the implementation and realization of future IoT applications and systems. Particular focus is put on concepts, tools, and the toolchain, that is required for this endavor. Furthermore, flexible right management, capability and performance profiles, and request evaluation for dynamically composed IoT settings will be targeted. We want to discuss how to realize abstract representations of these aspects in order to automatically react on adapted requests, changed network configurations, or system states. Networked swarms of such UAVs promise breakthroughs in public safety, commercial, and military applications including search-and-rescue, disaster response, infrastructure inspection, environmental monitoring, virtual/augmented reality, and ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance). The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers working at the intersection of wireless networking, mobile computing, sensing, robotics, and/or planning to address a myriad of fundamental technical challenges that must be solved before UAV swarms (and, more broadly, multi-UAV systems) can be safely, effectively, and widely deployed. Since many of these challenges will not be able to be addressed without the help of UAV swarm simulation platforms, experimental testbeds/prototypes, and experimental evaluations, papers on these topics are especially encouraged.
