Building on 15 years of successful EWSN conferences, the 16th edition marks a significant change: for the first time, EWSN will go outside Europe, and be held in Beijing, China. There are many critical IoT applications in the energy sector. Worldwide energy systems and infrastructure are experiencing tremendous transformation. There has been a drastic surge in global energy consumption, which has tripled in the past 50 years. As a result, new measures have been introduced to improve the responsiveness and robustness of energy systems, along with the global trends of deregulation and decarbonization. Energy systems, covering energy generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption processes in various energy media (e.g., electricity, gas, heat, fuel cell technology) in diverse sectors such as power grid, buildings, transportation systems, are one of the most important applications of IoT-based solutions. There is a heightened need in energy systems for real-time data analytics, dynamic control, and disruption mitigation, which can be empowered by a variety of IoT technologies. This special issue (SI) solicits novel solutions and techniques of applying IoT to smart energy systems. This SI aims to create a forum for researchers, developers and practitioners from both academia and industry to disseminate the state-of-the-art results and to advance the applications of IoT for smart energy systems. Ease of use, accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of the new technologies used in the new vehicles are the main priority for automakers. The idea of “Connected Vehicle” has been the focus of automakers, telecommunication industry, and IT providers for quite a while. The evolution of technologies that advances vehicle connectivity has brought new fields of research and development in several industries. Numerous new terms such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicles-to-everything (V2X), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and others have been conceived to describe the passing of information from one vehicle to the surrounding entities. However, as the number of Internet-connected devices is dramatically growing, cloud shows its limit on handling the daunting amount of computation loads on the one hand and the network bandwidth for moving huge volume of data from end devices to cloud becomes the bottleneck on the other hand. Edge computing is an emerging paradigm to optimize cloud-IoT ecosystems for tackling both network bottleneck and reducing data volume. The basic idea behind the edge computing lies in that the data processing such as analytics and knowledge generation are performed in the proximity of data origins. One can see edge devices as small-scale clouds providing comparatively limited functionality and capability, as compared to the centralized cloud. The use of edge devices in the proximity of data origins thus improves network latency. Moreover, the amount of data that need to be processed by each edge device will be substantially less than the amount of data that need to be processed by single cloud. Despite numerous benefits from edge computing, this paradigm also brings new security and privacy challenges. While edge devices might be smartphones, smart gates, or even PC/laptop, together with the numerous kinds of end IoT devices such as smart watch (e.g., Apple iWatch), implantable medical devices (e.g., fitbit), voice assistants (e.g., Google Home), one can imagine various scenarios with sensitive data usage. For example, the smart watch collects sensitive physiological information. Meanwhile, distributed edge devices need to cooperate with each other without the involvement of the data center. These scenarios obviously result in a high concern of security and privacy, especially on, for example, access control of edge devices, data abuse/misuse, DoS resistance on edge devices. The aim of this special issue is to collect recent research on security and privacy of edge computing, with particular emphasis on security and privacy issues on edge/end devices. More specifically, we invite recent advanced research on privacy enhancing technologies and secure cryptographic techniques to address security and privacy challenges in the field of edge computing. We will consider three different categories of papers: - *Full papers* should describe novel research contributions and are limited in length to eight (8) printed pages (10-point font) including figures, tables, and references. Papers exceeding 8 pages will not be accepted at EDAS, nor reviewed at all. - *Short papers *should be more visionary in nature and may report on work in progress without finished results. Basically, If you have had any deployments that have ended in disaster, and you know why and were able to fix them, or have any tools that bring modern software engineering practices to WSN programming, we would love to hear about it. We are also interested in any use of formal methods for the verification of WSN systems, or WSN systems used as part of a larger control system. FAILSAFE 2018 Call For Papers The Second ACM International Workshop on the Engineering of Reliable, Robust, and Secure Embedded Wireless Sensing Systems http://wp.doc.ic.ac.uk/failsafe/ The FAILSAFE workshop will provide a forum to discuss tools and techniques to address the difficulties and challenges of deploying Embedded Wireless Sensor Systems (EWSS) in the wild, and aim to produce reliable, robust systems. We seek submissions of up to 8 pages describing and presenting data of problems and failures of experimental efforts, practical experiences, and industrial and commercial developments in all aspects of sensor networks, mobile devices, and wireless communication. We solicit work that discusses real Deployments and ways to engineer them, Security of EWSS, both ways to engineer security at design time, and approaches to run time security, and Application resilience including designed resilience for control systems. We encourage submissions of the above topics of interest that cover, but are not limited to: We would also like submissions about any tools, methods, techniques, or approaches to engineer robust and resilient EWSS. This includes robustness and resilience faults and failures from the environment, human error, or malicious activities. Examples include novel simulation frameworks, the use of formal methods like model checking, design methodologies, languages that explicitly handle faults and failures, forms of unit, integration, or run time testing, models to test performance during faults and failures, and anything else relevant to this discussion. We address three main areas. Deployments and how to design them: - Testing frameworks, models, simulators, formal methods that deal with sensor system deployment failures, and can be used to prevent similar failures of wireless sensor systems. This includes failure of the sensor systems themselves, or the affect that their failure would have on the application that uses their data. - Monitoring tools, control systems, or code update systems for use in sensor system deployments to detect and diagnose node or system performance issues, failures, or malicious activity. - Any account of a real ENSS deployment with an emphasis on any design tools or methodologies used, and an assessment of the benefit that they provided. - Examples of a deployment that was tested, and failed due to unexpected circumstances. The testing methodology must be presented and discussed, as well as how it failed to account for the phenomenon that caused the failure, and a potential solution described. - Failure and the diagnosis of an actual deployment of mobile apps, networks and systems. Must include some data and analysis of what caused the failure. Secure Design and Operation of EWSS: - Approaches to address faults and failures caused by malicious activity aimed at the disruption of the EWSS or the application that uses it. - Formal models of security attacks. - Secure by design approaches to EWSS. - Runtime security or intrusion detection systems for EWSS. - Any documented example of a real EWSS deployment that either was attacked by malicious agents, or that deployed security mechanisms, with a description of what was done. Resilient and Robust Applications and Control: - Design methods to create applications or controllers that are resilient and robust to the loss, delay, or corruption of data from an EWSS. - Applications of formal methods to design and/or verify resilient and robust sensor networks. - Examples or methods to engineer coupled communication and control systems that are resilient and robust. - Examples of real deployment using wireless sensors for a controller with instances of failure or any design methodology used, or any security considerations taken. This allows context-aware applications to gather information about the users to support them in their daily tasks. A newly attractive source of information for pervasive computing is provided by mobile and wearable devices able to detect the emotional state of the users. In many real-world scenarios, it is essential to use wearable sensors, embedded in mobile devices such as smartphones and smartwatches, to measure the emotional state of the user. This would help to understand how emotions influence processes such as decision making and reasoning. However, emotion recognition remains to be a complex and challenging task mainly regarding the following aspects: sensing modalities, data analysis, and its application in real life. · Sensing Modalities – what to sense and what kind of sensors can be used? Physical sensors in mobile devices or biosensors in wearable devices are currently available. · Data analysis – different approaches to emotion recognition are based on different types of collected data. Which one to use? · Application – How to effectively use the emotion information in pervasive computing and context-aware applications? While there have been, many contributions targeting some of these challenges, there are still unsolved problems. The proposed workshop will explore the challenges of the sensing, modeling, and recognizing of emotions by using embedded sensors in smartphones and wearable devices for pervasive computing. We aim to have unique contributions addressing these challenges and to provide a discussion space to facilitate collaboration among researchers interested in emotion recognition for pervasive computing. Traditional efforts have sought the application of Wireless Sensor Network (WSNs) and RFID tags, as well as processing of sparsely distributed feeds (e.g., public and private live CCTV) in order to do the monitoring and processing. An expanded consideration for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications in smart cities has been explored with emphasis on facilitating high-density sensor and actuator deployment. Such an evolution yielded powerful architectures for enabling smart cities. Fundamental issues, however, abound in the high cost of deployment and maintenance, especially when attempting to smarten an existing city infrastructure. Such serious restraints make the aforementioned advanced technologies fully viable and attractive for new cities/districts, but reduces their applicability in the dominant transitional scenarios. Comprehensive and scalable crowd management infrastructures are required to overcome the economic and technical constraints of state-of-the-art conceptualizations and implementations, while maintaining both practical and commercial appeals. This Feature Topic Issue, motivated by the latest advances in crowd management, will tackle outstanding contributions that deal with state-of-the-art setups, techniques, methodologies, designs and actual deployment of crowd management solutions. Researchers and engineers from academia and industry are invited to submit their recent results and innovations. Starting as a niche application over Wi-Fi, they can now be found in mainstream technologies like Bluetooth LE, LTE Direct and Wireless LANs, and have become the cornerstone of upcomingnetworking paradigms including mesh and sensor networks, the Internet ofThings, cloud networks, vehicular networks, disruption tolerant and opportunistic networks, underwater and intra-body networks. The challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. The sensor enabled communication technologies are connecting billions of things, by efficiently utilizing their locations in the real world. It has brought active participation and tangible creation of benefits to the economy and ultimately the society. As the so called smart things are extremely diverse and heterogeneous in terms of computing and communication technology and resource capability, there is no stand-alone solution towards realisation of service centric provisioning in IoT. The service domain in IoT environments is also divers including energy efficiency, computing capability, coordination time, resource harvesting capacity, dimension of things, etc. The growing diversity enforces the necessity to address the most significant issue of technological complexity, for practical enhancement and evaluation of quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for service-oriented use cases in IoT environments. The literature has vastly contributed towards architecture design for cooperative communication, computing and application centric development. However, the efforts towards realistic modelling and evaluation of QoS and QoE in IoT environments have not witnessed enough attentions in academia and industrial research labs. Although the realistic implementations of IoT environments have been realized in various domains including product engineering, marketing, health, sports, and security yet, the scalability of these implementations is not guaranteed due to the lack of QoS and QoE evaluation in IoT environments. The R&D towards service centric technologies in IoT environments will support the mass realization of realistic IoT implementations resulting in effective economic and social benefit. Driven by the enhancement of QoS and QoE for diverse use cases in IoT, new technologies are keen to the rise of spanning different service centric aspects in IoT environments. The aim of this special issue is to provide opportunities for researchers and practitioners to publish their latest and innovative contributions with new methodologies and modelling techniques towards service centric IoT framework. Theoretical investigation and prototype implementation based studies are particularly welcomed, as IEEE Access journal attracts practical articles discussing new experiments or measurement techniques, interesting solutions to engineering, including negative results. Remote preparation phase. After successfully registering to the conference, accepted contestants will obtain the credentials to remotely access the competition infrastructure. During the official preparation phase, all competing teams will have the possibility to test and optimize their solution for this year's competition scenario. In particular, contestants will be able to program all nodes in the competition infrastructure and download their serial output, as well as the evaluation results. The latter will be published on a leaderboard that will be visible to all other competing teams. Final evaluation phase. At the end of the preparation phase, each team needs to provide one single ihex binary file for each competition category. During the evaluation phase, this binary file will be used to extensively benchmark the performance of the competing solution. Competition abstracts. Each team will have the possibility to publish a competition abstract as part of the EWSN proceedings that will appear in the ACM Digital Library. The competition abstracts will follow the same camera-ready deadline as the EWSN poster abstracts and are expected to include a description of the competing solution, as well as preliminary results and lessons learned from the preparation phase. Poster session. A poster session dedicated to the dependability competition will take place during the main EWSN conference. All competing teams must present their solution in the poster session and will have the possibility to engage in lively discussions with the other conference attendees. Awards. The winners of each competition's category will be awarded during a dedicated plenary session of the main conference. After receiving the award, the winning teams must hold a plenary short presentation about their solution, followed by a discussion session. ******** COMPETITION CATEGORIES ******** The EWSN 2019 dependability competition foresees two categories: Category 1: Data collection for condition monitoring. In this category, a fixed number of source nodes communicate to a single destination node over a multi-hop network (i.e., multipoint-to-point traffic). The destination node collects the data transmitted by all source nodes and forwards it to a control center for further processing. Category 2: Dissemination of actuation commands. In this category, a fixed number of source nodes needs to disseminate actuation commands to a specific set of destinations nodes in the network (i.e., point-to-multipoint traffic). Each source node is associated to a specific set of destinations (at most eight), which will be injected as input parameter into the firmware under test by the competition infrastructure. All wireless communication protocols used in low-power wireless sensor networks are welcome, and there is no restriction on the operating system used to program the sensor nodes. There is also no requirement on the originality of the competing solutions: the demonstration of good use of well-known or previously-published protocols is strongly encouraged. Demos are an integral part of the UbiComp conference. It is an opportunity for you to showcase your early implementations, prototypes work in-progress systems and even commercial products to a broad audience. It is your chance to engage the attendees and media representatives at a personal level and let them see, touch and experience the future of UbiComp. Whether you are coming with new what-if scenarios, developing new technologies or using existing ones in novel ways, your submissions are welcome. Demos should be brief and repeatable so that it can be efficiently shown repeatedly to a large number of attendees. We particularly encourage demos that people can interact with, have physical sensors or artifacts and in general keep the audience engaged. # What To Submit Your demo submission begins with a submission of a short video OR a 2 page abstract in SIGCHI Extended Abstracts template explaining your proposed demonstration scenario. The video should be 1-4 minutes in length and must clearly explain the demo concept. The primary purpose of the video or the short abstract is to communicate to the demo selection committee what the demo is about and whether it is a relevant fit for the UbiComp community. If you choose to submit a video, please note that your video must show a working version of the system (software or hardware). If you choose to submit 2 page abstract, it should convince the reader that the system works (pictures are highly encouraged). (You can even supplement your 2 page abstract with a short video, i.e. submit both an abstract and a video.) We understand that for many research prototypes, it may not always be feasible to demo the entire system (for example a system that requires sensors to be deployed throughout a home). In such instances, we encourage you to limit the scope of the system for the purposes of the demo and communicate clearly in the video or the abstract document how the demonstrated system is a small scale version of the overall innovation. GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch Sensornetze – FGSN 2018 ====================================================================== https://www.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de/cm/events/fgsn2018/ Die Nutzung von Rechnern, Smartphones und entsprechender Kommunikationstechnik ist für die meisten Menschen unserer heutigen Gesellschaft Teil des Alltags geworden. Aber auch mehr und mehr Gegenstände können kommunizieren, Informationen bereitstellen oder gesteuert werden. In Sensornetzen, Internet-of-Things, Cyber-Physical-Networks, ... kommunizieren nun Geräte verschiedenster Art und für verschiedenste Zweckr miteinander. In manchen Szenarien werden von Sensoren Daten gesammelt und an zentrale Stellen zur Weiterverarbeitung, Speicherung sowie Entscheidungsfindung übertragen. Bei Einsatz von Aktorik können dann auch Regelschleifen geschlossen werden. Je nach Einsatzzweck werden verschiedenste Techniken für die Sensorik, für die Kommunikation, für die Verarbeitung, für die Speicherung etc. Auch wenn schon seit etliche Jahren umfangreiche Forschungen in diesem Umfeld erfolgten, gibt es nach wie vor vielfältige offene Fragestellungen und Herausforderungen. Zudem bestehen sehr breite und unterschiedliche Anwendungsbereiche, die oftmals spezielle Anforderungen an alle einzelnen Komponenten stellen. So sind die Anforderungen zwischen Szenarien bspw. für Smart Farming, für Industrieanlagen oder für Smart Cities sehr unterschiedlich. Es wird daher zur Einreichung von Beiträgen zu den vielfältigen Fragestellungen des breiten Forschungsbereichs aufgerufen. Dies kann u.a., aber nicht ausschließlich, Themenbereiche beinhalten wie: - Drahtlose Sensor- und Aktornetze - Internet of Things - Cyber-Physical Systems und Networks - Device-to-Device communication - Mobile Ad hoc und Mesh Netze - Automobilanwendungen und Smart Vehicles in Networked Worlds - Transportation, Fleet Management, Traffic Management - Verteilte Systeme für das IoT, IoT Protokolle und Standardisierung - Sensordatenerfassung und Crowd Sensing - Hausautomatisierung und Verteilte Energieanwendungen - Smart Buildings und Smart Cities - Zuverlässigkeit und Performanzeigenschaften - Energie- und ressourceneffiziente Sensorknoten und Sensornetze - Werkzeuge für Test und Evaluation (Simulatoren, Emulatoren, Testbeds, ...) Beiträge -------- Ziel dieser Reihe von Fachgesprächen ist der informelle Gedankenaustausch für Wissenschaftler aus Forschung und Industrie sowie die Stärkung von Kooperationen in diesem multidisziplinären Forschungsbereich. Im Rahmen des Fachgesprächs soll daher die Diskussion gegenüber der Vortragspräsentation im Vordergrund stehen. Beiträge sind in Form von Extended Abstracts einzureichen. Sie sollen 2-4 Seiten umfassen und im doppelspaltigen IEEE Transaction Format für Konferenzen in 10pt Schrift auf A4 verfasst werden. Das Fachgespräch ist offen für Beiträge, die bei anderen begutachteten Veranstaltungen publiziert werden. Such networks may be characterized by intermittent connectivity, a heterogeneous mix of nodes, frequent nodal churn, and widely varying network conditions. The applications of challenged networks range from time-critical communications such as for disaster relief to delay-tolerant transmission in poorly connected regions or where censorship should be counteracted. However, challenged networking has also found many applications in everyday settings, for which they were not initially conceived, such as opportunistic networking supporting data-centric communications, traffic offloading from cellular networks, mobile cloud/edge computing, opportunistic and participatory sensing as well as challenged IoT. This workshop builds on the success of the twelve previous CHANTS workshops, and WDTN 2005, and aims to stimulate research on the most novel topics of challenged networking research. This year’s edition encourages submission of theoretical and experimental work (including studies of real deployment), with a primary interest in new directions of challenged networking in concrete application scenarios and demonstrators in areas such as autonomous driving, underwater robots, emergency response operations, underground mining, interplanetary missions, polar research and unmanned aerial vehicles. The workshop seeks original work presented in the form of research papers describing new research approaches and results, as well as demo and poster submissions. Highly disruptive work-in-progress and position papers are also welcome, provided they focus on particularly innovative solutions or applications for challenged networks. All papers shall be forward-looking, describe their relationship to existing work, and shall argue their impact and implications for ongoing or future research. Starting as a niche application over Wi-Fi, they can now be found in mainstream technologies like Bluetooth LE, LTE Direct and Wireless LANs, and have become the cornerstone of upcoming networking paradigms including mesh and sensor networks, the Internet of Things, cloud networks, vehicular networks, disruption tolerant and opportunistic networks, underwater and intra-body networks. The challenges of this exciting research field are numerous. Examples include how to make smart use of these novel technologies when multiple technologies or a mix of permanent services and on-demand networking opportunities are available to a network node, how to provide robust services in highly dynamic environments, how to efficiently employ and operate heavily resource-constrained devices, and how to develop robust and lightweight algorithms for self-organization and adaptation. Finally, there are many application-specific challenges. WONS, now in its fifteenth edition, is a high quality forum to address these challenges. WONS aims to provide a global platform for rich interactions between experts in their fields, discussing innovative contributions in a stimulating environment. This announcement solicits original contributions of high-quality research providing novel insights on all aspects of wireless on-demand networks and systems; from protocol and network design, modelling, performance evaluation, energy efficiency, QoS models and mechanisms, practical implementations, service level aspects, application use-cases, to the integration of multiple wireless network technologies. Extended versions of selected top papers will be considered for publication on a fast track on special issues in Elsevier Computer Communications (COMCOM) journal. Topics of interest comprise, but are not limited to: * Cognitive radio networks * Cross-layer design * Energy-efficient protocols and power management * Heterogeneous wireless networks * Implementations and testbeds * Integration and co-existence of heterogeneous technologies * Intra-body and biomedical on-demand systems * Green wireless networks * Localization and mobility management * MAC and advanced PHY technologies * Middleware aspects * Mobile peer-to-peer systems * Mobile computing and services * Modelling and optimization * Network management * New architectures for on-demand wireless systems * Novel applications and services * Opportunistic, delay-tolerant, and dissemination-based protocols * Performance evaluation through simulations and experiments * Pervasive and ubiquitous computing * Security, privacy, and trust * Social and economic aspects * Underwater on-demand networked systems * Architectures and protocols for the Internet of Things Authors are invited to submit double-column long papers (up to 8 pages) and short papers (up to 4 pages) as a PDF file in IEEE format with a font size no smaller than 10pt. All paper submissions must be written in English. The mandatory IEEE template in Microsoft Word and LaTeX format can be found at the IEEE templates page. All submitted manuscripts must be at least 3 pages in length. Short papers should present future research directions and ongoing work with visionary, innovative ideas; accepted short papers will populate poster sessions at the conference and will be included in the conference proceedings. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 independent expert in the field following a single blind process. The trend of “IoT meetings AI” has already cast significant impact on the aspects characterizing a smart city. However, the growth of smart units is limited by a fundamental factor, namely, battery. The reasons are primarily twofold: First, battery energy density only increased by three times over the past 22 years, which is much slower than many other areas of computation technology (e.g., transistors in an ASIC, data rates, etc.). Second, used batteries contain harmful chemicals and generate dangerous toxic waste that has to be properly processed. For many years, researchers have been working on reducing computation and communication power consumption. Despite the remarkable advancements in energy efficient computation and networking, we are still facing poor battery life, which challenges usage of many mobile applications and makes customers unhappy. A promising idea to address the problem of battery life is backscattering-based computation and transmissions, which concerns harvesting RF energy to power a backscatter unit's operation: The backscatter unit compute data and transmits them via reflecting the RF signal. Ambient and RFID backscattering are two techniques that enable data computation and transmission on battery-free units. Traditional RFID is a widely used technology that harvests power from RF signals emitted by an RFID reader. Sensor-augmented RFID tags can be deployed in smart environments to get real-time information about the state of tagged objects. Ambient backscattering harvests power from ambient signals such as TV, cellular, and Wi-Fi transmissions, enabling the design of battery-free units that can operate outdoor. Although backscattering enables battery-free operation, mobile units can operate with a relatively small power budget, posing significant constraints regarding operation and communication solutions. The bottleneck in terms of power consumption has shifted away from communication to computation, requiring a redesign at the unit level of data acquisition, data processing, buffering, packetizing, to achieve ultra-low power computation, and at the networking level to realize efficient backscatter-based architectures. This special issue (SI) aims at inviting works from leading researchers and developers from industry and academia to present recent and trending views on all aspects of backscattering-based computation and transmission. Propelled by the explosive growth in IoT, this trend is only going to accelerate in the years to come with new inventions in the =C3=A1r= ea of human-IoT interaction technologies to deliver powerful engaging and intuitive experiences. But, these developments have remained confined to only the sensing and transmission of aural and optical information in the digital domain through the use of microphone, camera, speaker and display devices. However, the ability to integrate the other three sensory features, namely, olfactory (smell), gustatory (taste) and tactile (touch) in information transfer and replication to deliver Star-Wars-like being there experience are still far from reality. Human bond communication (HBC) is a novel concept that incorporates all five sensory information from sensing to digitization to transmission and replication at the receiver to allow more expressive, engaging, realistic and holistic information between humans, and in some cases between humans and machines (M2H) or IoTs. This FT solicits articles that explore different aspects of HBC, IoTs for HBC and the interplay between these two fields, M2M and M2H, which also include the other three human sensory information (olfactory, tactile and gustatory) in addition to aural and optical sensors. Although the FT invites papers on research topics on sensing and replication, the focus of these papers should be on the ICT angle in this regards and on how information is encoded, transmitted and decoded reliably and securely in a world which would increasingly become multi-sensory. Hiermit möchten wir zur Einreichung von Beiträgen aufrufen. Wir bitten um Extended Abstracts für Vorträge als auch für Demos/Poster. GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch Sensornetze – FGSN 2018 ====================================================================== https://www.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de/cm/events/fgsn2018/ Die Nutzung von Rechnern, Smartphones und entsprechender Kommunikationstechnik ist für die meisten Menschen unserer heutigen Gesellschaft Teil des Alltags geworden. Aber auch mehr und mehr Gegenstände können kommunizieren, Informationen bereitstellen oder gesteuert werden. In Sensornetzen, Internet-of-Things, Cyber-Physical-Networks, ... kommunizieren nun Geräte verschiedenster Art und für verschiedenste Zweckr miteinander. In manchen Szenarien werden von Sensoren Daten gesammelt und an zentrale Stellen zur Weiterverarbeitung, Speicherung sowie Entscheidungsfindung übertragen. Bei Einsatz von Aktorik können dann auch Regelschleifen geschlossen werden. Je nach Einsatzzweck werden verschiedenste Techniken für die Sensorik, für die Kommunikation, für die Verarbeitung, für die Speicherung etc. Auch wenn schon seit etliche Jahren umfangreiche Forschungen in diesem Umfeld erfolgten, gibt es nach wie vor vielfältige offene Fragestellungen und Herausforderungen. Zudem bestehen sehr breite und unterschiedliche Anwendungsbereiche, die oftmals spezielle Anforderungen an alle einzelnen Komponenten stellen. So sind die Anforderungen zwischen Szenarien bspw. für Smart Farming, für Industrieanlagen oder für Smart Cities sehr unterschiedlich. Es wird daher zur Einreichung von Beiträgen zu den vielfältigen Fragestellungen des breiten Forschungsbereichs aufgerufen. Dies kann u.a., aber nicht ausschließlich, Themenbereiche beinhalten wie: - Drahtlose Sensor- und Aktornetze - Internet of Things - Cyber-Physical Systems und Networks - Device-to-Device communication - Mobile Ad hoc und Mesh Netze - Automobilanwendungen und Smart Vehicles in Networked Worlds - Transportation, Fleet Management, Traffic Management - Verteilte Systeme für das IoT, IoT Protokolle und Standardisierung - Sensordatenerfassung und Crowd Sensing - Hausautomatisierung und Verteilte Energieanwendungen - Smart Buildings und Smart Cities - Zuverlässigkeit und Performanzeigenschaften - Energie- und ressourceneffiziente Sensorknoten und Sensornetze - Werkzeuge für Test und Evaluation (Simulatoren, Emulatoren, Testbeds, ...) Beiträge -------- Ziel dieser Reihe von Fachgesprächen ist der informelle Gedankenaustausch für Wissenschaftler aus Forschung und Industrie sowie die Stärkung von Kooperationen in diesem multidisziplinären Forschungsbereich. Im Rahmen des Fachgesprächs soll daher die Diskussion gegenüber der Vortragspräsentation im Vordergrund stehen. Beiträge sind in Form von Extended Abstracts einzureichen. Sie sollen 2-4 Seiten umfassen und im doppelspaltigen IEEE Transaction Format für Konferenzen in 10pt Schrift auf A4 verfasst werden. Das Fachgespräch ist offen für Beiträge, die bei anderen begutachteten Veranstaltungen publiziert werden. Die angenommenen Beiträge werden als technischer Bericht über die Unibibliothek der TU Braunschweig veröffentlicht. Für Einreichungen kann gerne das bereitgestellte LaTeX Template genutzt werden.
