* The DCOSS-IoT series of events are always technically co-sponsored by
IEEE, and Proceedings are published by IEEE Xplore.
The 21st International Conference on Distributed Computing in Smart Systems
and the Internet of Things (DCOSS-IoT 2025) will be held in Tuscany
(Lucca), Italy. The conference is always co-sponsored by the IEEE Computer
Society and by the IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel Processing (TCPP).
The conference was previously known as DCOSS. Starting in 2023, the event
is broadening its scope beyond sensor networks to include smart systems in
general and the Internet of Things (IoT). The updated name is “Distributed
Computing in Smart Systems and the Internet of Things” (DCOSS-IoT).
In the last few years, we have witnessed significant growth in the use of
IoT and distributed sensor systems in several application areas, including
smart transportation, smart energy systems, smart homes and buildings,
smart healthcare, and environmental monitoring. For smart sensor systems to
truly become useful and pervasive, we need to address several research
challenges, including the tight integration of sensing and machine
intelligence, reliable and efficient networking, interoperability and
scalability, the need for dependable autonomy, interaction with humans, and
important aspects of security, privacy and trust. DCOSS-IoT focuses on
issues arising in the entire IoT and networked sensor systems stack,
covering aspects of high-level abstractions, models and languages,
communication technologies, novel algorithms and applications, system
design approaches and architectures, and tools for simulated and real
deployments. Potential authors are invited to submit original, unpublished
manuscripts demonstrating recent advances in theoretical and experimental
research.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Artificial Intelligence for IoT
* Machine learning and data mining for IoT and Smart Systems
* Smart healthcare to combat epidemics
* Edge and fog computing: distributed computing models from sensor to cloud
* Machine intelligence in distributed sensor systems and real-time analytics
* Novel communication paradigms (e.g., 5G/6G, VLC, DSA) for IoT and Smart
Systems
* Cyber-Physical Systems
* IoT and Smart Systems for Smart and Connected Communities
* Autonomous systems: closing the loop between sensing and actuation
* Time and location management
* Robustness, resilience, and dependability of IoT and smart systems
* Security and privacy in IoT and Smart Systems
* Performance analysis: complexity, correctness, scalability
* Mobile and human-centric sensing
* IoT and Smart Systems for social computing

*_FMEC 2025 CFP:_*
Cloud computing provides a large range of services and virtually unlimited
available resources for users. New applications, such as virtual reality
and smart building control, have emerged due to the large number of
resources and services brought by cloud computing. However, the
delay-sensitive applications face the problem of large latency, especially
when several smart devices and objects are getting involved in human’s life
such as the case of smart cities or Internet of Things. Therefore, cloud
computing is unable to meet the requirements of low latency, location
awareness, and mobility support. To solve this problem, researchers have
introduced a trusted and dependable solution through the Fog and the Mobile
Edge Computing (FMEC) to put the services and resources of the cloud closer
to users, which facilitate the leveraging of available services and
resources in the edge networks. By this, we are moving from the core (cloud
data centers) to the edge of the network closer to the users. FMEC
dependability is based on providing user centric service. The purpose of
Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing is to run the heavy real-time
applications at the network edge directly using the billions of connected
mobile devices.
Several features enable the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing to be a
perfect paradigm to the aforementioned purpose, which are the dense
geographical deployment of servers, supporting mobility and the closeness
to users. As in every new technology, some challenges face the vision of
the Fog and the Mobile Edge Computing, which are the administrative
policies and security concerns (i.e. secure data storage, secure
computation, network security, data privacy, usage privacy, location
privacy, etc). FMEC 2024 conference aims to investigate the opportunities
and requirements for Mobile Edge Computing dominance. In addition, it seeks
for novel contributions that help mitigate Mobile Edge Computing
challenges. That is, the objective of FMEC 2025 is to provide a forum for
scientists, engineers, and researchers to discuss and exchange new ideas,
novel results and experience on all aspects of Fog and Mobile Edge
Computing (FMEC). FMEC 2025 is Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE Florida
Section. Researchers are encouraged to submit original research

*CALL FOR PAPERS*
Robotic networks have emerged as a transformative force with the potential
to reshape industries, enhance our daily lives, and venture into the most
challenging environments on Earth and beyond. At the heart of this
transformation lies the critical aspect of communication and networking,
enabling robots to operate effectively, share data and collaborate seamlessly.
In this era of interconnected devices, robots rely on advanced
communication protocols and networks to function efficiently in diverse
environments. Whether in manufacturing, healthcare, autonomous vehicles, or
space exploration, the ability of robots to communicate with each other and
with humans is transforming industries and pushing the boundaries of
technological innovation.
The frontier of research foresees the deployment of highly autonomic and
integrated scenarios where heterogeneous ground, aerial and/or marine
robots coordinate with each other and with the existing sensing and
processing infrastructures to accomplish complex tasks. On the one side,
this implies proposing and investigating novel M2M solutions and network
protocols to enable the data communication on the aerial and ground
segments while taking into account the novel possibilities offered by the
emerging technologies (e.g. 5G/6G and LEO satellite communications). The
communication technologies must be paired with proper control mobility
functions to support swarm operations and to instill coordinated behaviors.
On the other side, the data processing on the mobile edges may take
advantage of emerging federated and embedded AI techniques to drastically
reduce the latency of the decision process while limiting the amount of
data transferred from the robotic networks.
NetRobiCS aims at bringing together state-of-the-art contributions on the
design, specification, and evaluation of architectures, algorithms,
