Co-located with IEEE ICC 2024, Denver, CO, 9-13 June 2024
*Call for Papers*
Energy efficiency and sustainability have become of paramount importance
in all human activities, including the information and communication
technology sector. The trade-off between availability, resiliency,
programmability, and energy efficiency of networks and services is a key
challenge for the next decade and monitoring methods and metrics for
power consumption, energy efficiency, as well as sustainability are
important, as well as benchmarking of solutions based on well-defined
KPIs. For that reason, the goal of the GreenNet Workshop is to address
emerging concepts and challenges related to energy efficiency and
sustainability for networked services. An improved sustainability in all
parts of the network, in a time of increasing AI/ML usage, evolution of
different novel network access technologies, the spreading of edge
computing and micro-data centers, and the demand in computational and
data transport capacity across the edge-cloud continuum, is essential.
We solicit original papers on the following (and related) topics:
Topics of Interest
- Traffic modeling and prediction for performance and power representation
Analytical models of network, base station, and cloud power consumption
Accuracy and granularity of traffic prediction models
- Network and device management and control mechanisms

*Beitragsaufruf*
Das Ruhrgebiet ist vielfältig und bunt, genau so wie unsere Community. In

grundständigen Lehre in Zukunft einnehmen? Welche Anknüpfungspunkte und
Schwerpunkte bringen einen curricularen Mehrwert und eine damit
einhergehende Sichtbarkeit unseres Fachbereichs?

== Paper Submission ==
Papers must be original and unpublished, and must not be submitted
concurrently for publication elsewhere. All paper submissions should
follow the IEEE 8.5″ x 11″ two-column format using 10pt fonts and the
IEEE Conference template (downloadable by selecting “Conferences” in
the IEEE-Template Selector https://template-selector.ieee.org/). Each
submission can have up to 11 pages (including references). Papers
exceeding this page limit or with smaller fonts will be rejected
without review. The submitted manuscripts should be anonymized for
double-blinded review.
The full paper review process is double-blind. Authors are required to
take all reasonable steps to preserve the anonymity of their
submission. The submission must not include author information and
must not include citations or discussion of related work that would
make the authorship apparent. While authors can upload their paper to
institutional or other preprint repositories such as arXiv.org before
reviewing is complete, we generally discourage this since it places
anonymity at risk. If authors decide to upload their paper to a
preprint site, they must make sure the title and abstract of their
submission to ICDCS are different from the title and abstract of the
preprint version, so that it is not immediately obvious the two
versions are the same paper.
Paper submission website: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icdcs2024
If your submission is accepted for publication, up to 2 over length
pages may be purchased for the final camera-ready version. For each
accepted paper, at least one author is required to pay a full author
registration and attend the conference to present their work on site.
No-show paper will be reported to the publisher and removed from the
conference publication. For authors with multiple papers accepted by
the conference, a separate author registration is required for each
paper.

CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE Workshop on Emerging Technologies in Aerial and Space Networks
in conjunction with IEEE ICC 2024 (IEEE International Conference on
Communications), 9–13 June 2024//Denver, CO, USA
Website: https://sites.google.com/njit.edu/icc-asn/home
Submission Link: https://ws02icc2024workshop-etasn.edas.info/
Aerial and space networks (ASNs) refer to various airborne and space
assets, such as unmanned aerial systems (UASs), balloons, and low earth
orbit satellites, that are interconnected together to establish a
high-speed and universal data network. As compared to terrestrial networks,
ASNs can potentially offer higher wireless coverage to users, more flexible
network configurations to meet various requirements, and less capital
costs. Hence, it is promising and has drawn much attention to apply ASNs to
connect a massive number of devices, especially in an area, where 1) it is
expensive or impossible to deploy a terrestrial network, or 2) a
terrestrial network is out of service when, for example, a disaster struck
the area. In addition, NASA recently proposed to build an Advanced Air
Mobility ecosystem to make soaring over traffic in air taxis, providing
public good missions. Achieving high-speed and reliable ASNs to enable UASs
to share information is critical to ensure air traffic safe
ty. Moreover, ASNs can provide not only data communication services but
also reliable edge computing capabilities with the assistance of, for
example, blockchain technologies. That is, various airborne and space
assets are capable of collaboratively processing big data generated by
ground users to generate high-level knowledge in real-time.
Topics include but are not limited to
- Massive MIMO, mmWave and terahertz communications, and free space optics
for ASNs
- Advanced antenna design for ASNs
- Ground-to-space, air-to-space, air-to-air, and space-to-space wireless
channel measurement and modelling
- Semantic communications for ASNs
- Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) for ASNs
- New networking architecture design for ASNs, such as OpenRAN and SDN
- Intelligent network orchestration in ASNs
- Radio resource management in ASNs - Optimized coexistence among
terrestrial, aerial, and space networks
- Task offloading optimization and network optimization in ASN-based edge
computing
- Privacy and security for ASNs and ASN-based edge computing
- Non-terrestrial networks and space-air-ground integrated networks

and the Internet of Things (DCOSS-IoT 2024) will be held in Abu Dhabi,
United Arab Emirates. The conference is always co-sponsored by the IEEE
Computer Society and by the IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel Processing
(TCPP).
The conference was previously known as DCOSS.* Starting in 2023, the event
is broadening its scope beyond sensor networks to include smart systems in
general and the Internet of Things (IoT). The updated name is “Distributed
Computing in Smart Systems and the Internet of Things” (DCOSS-IoT).*
In the last few years, we have witnessed significant growth in the use of
IoT and distributed sensor systems in several application areas, including
smart transportation, smart energy systems, smart homes and
buildings, smart healthcare, and environmental monitoring. For smart sensor
systems to truly become useful and pervasive, we need to address several
research challenges, including the tight integration of sensing and machine
intelligence, reliable and efficient networking, interoperability and
scalability, the need for dependable autonomy, interaction with humans, and
important aspects of security, privacy and trust. DCOSS-IoT focuses on
issues arising in the entire IoT and networked sensor systems stack,
covering aspects of high-level abstractions, models and languages,
communication technologies, novel algorithms and applications, system
design approaches and architectures, and tools for simulated and real
deployments. Potential authors are invited to submit original, unpublished
manuscripts demonstrating recent advances in theoretical and experimental

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts
demonstrating current research on distributed smart systems and IoT related
to the aforementioned topics of interest. Please use the US letter size
(8.5 X 11 in) standard IEEE conference LaTeX format or Microsoft Word
template available on:
_http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.ht…
<http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html>.
All submissions should be written in English and have a maximum of eight
(8) printed pages, including figures and references. *Starting last year,
DCOSS-IoT will follow a double-blind review process.* As a result, authors
must make a good faith effort to anonymize their submissions. Although
submission is double-blind, the existence or availability of non-anonymous
preprints (on arXiv or other preprint servers) will not lead to your paper
being rejected. Reviewers will be instructed not to look for such preprints
actively, but encountering them will not constitute a conflict of interest.
Papers that do not meet the size, formatting, and anonymization
requirements will not be reviewed. We require each paper to be in Adobe
Portable Document Format (PDF) and submitted through the HotCRP submission
system.
