Context-aware and cognitive techniques are the major components behind
“intelligent” vehicles and transport systems. The workshop will be held
in conjunction with the main tracks of ITST-2011 conference. CAVES-2011
welcomes submissions from researchers, engineers, policy makers and
other practitioners, on new ideas and recent advances in intelligent
vehicles and transport systems.
This workshop plans to provide an insight on the most recent innovations
and research platforms that understand human and environmental behavior
and cognitively make use of the contexts for effective decision-making
in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
Papers are invited in any one of the following or other related topics.
• Survey on intelligent transport systems
• Cognitive and Context aware computing for ITS
• Sensor information fusion
• Driver behavior, emotion and concentration recognition
• Collaborative communication, control and positioning
• Optimization methods and learning algorithms for ITS
• ITS framework architectures for different geographical regions.
• Mobility management in vehicular ad-hoc networks
• Seamless connectivity in heterogeneous vehicular networks
• Simultaneous localization and mapping
• Green and sustainable vehicle / transport systems
• Telematics and Infotainment
• Driver profile / behavioral model (physiological
driver-vehicle interface)
• Intelligence in road traffic
• Integrated road safety management
• Practical vehicular and transport system design issues
• Traffic information dissemination and aggregation
• Cooperative safety support for public transport vehicles
• Middleware Architecture for ITS
• Context-aware parameter estimation and optimization for ITS
• Case studies
• Simulator tools and performance analysis
Accepted papers will be published in IEEE Xplore (pending) and indexed
in relevant databases. Papers in English must be submitted via EDAS in
pdf format at http://edas.info//N10311 <http://edas.info/N10311>. The
total length of a paper should not exceed 6 pages formatted according to
the IEEE Template at
http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html.
The authors are encouraged to submit full papers describing original,
previously unpublished research results, not currently under review by
another conference or journal. For further information please contact

Call for Papers
IEEE Communications Magazine
Consumer Communications and Networking Series
Recent trends in consumer networking are that consumers are both
creators and producers of content (albeit of varying quality!) and peer
distribution is the natural model. This is one of the emerging trends
that impact how consumers can use devices to create, manipulate, store,
and access content — and is surely a much different view compared to
only five years ago where most experts still viewed the world in terms
of servers and clients, producers and consumers as distinct and separate
entities….indeed, there are still dinosaur organizations out there today
who are fighting a rearguard action to protect their dwindling revenue
streams because they haven’t been brave enough to embrace this new
model. Trends like this are ones that papers for the consumer
communications and networking series should address.
We have also seen the technological reach of existing solutions being
applied in unconventional ways where all aspects of our digital lives
are being consumed to provide novel platforms where interoperation
between disparate technologies is now possible. For example, the
automotive industry is now producing cars that include ad hoc networks
designed to provide multimedia solutions as well as links to wide area
communications via satellite networks. Using these networking
capabilities and interfaces such as USB we see automobile functionality
being extended. In this sense the boundaries between the car and
conventional consumer devices are beginning to blur.
Perhaps the sole technology responsible for the many technological
advances we see today is communications. Example communications
technologies include the emergence of 3G and 4G, LTE and WiMax,
Bluetooth, Zigbee, Ultrawideband, TV-band, and Powerline and Free space
optical. Applications of these technologies include personal and body
area networking, home networking, game networking, ad-hoc networking,
and sensor networking. These networks may be connected through
networking layers that are cognitive, peer-to-peer enabled, and have the
properties of self organisation and management. These networks will
become key enablers where we are already seeing ubiquitous content
distribution models, for example, television can now be viewed wherever
we are and on any devices capable of connecting to one of the many
networking paradigms defined above. With these networks we can expect a
platform for true innovation where content distribution will overlay
these networks using compression, rights management, delivery, and
appropriate quality of service mechanisms that can be seamlessly moved
over these next generation networks. All of this is made possible by
networking, software and middleware that present to the service designer
the tools to provide ease of use, security, and stunning interactivity
to the end consumer.
With this in mind the IEEE Communications Magazine is seeking papers
that emphasize consumer networking in whatever physical environment it
finds itself. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the
following:
Scope of Contributions
• Wireless Multimedia Networks
• Body and Personal Area Networks
• Mobile Networks and Multimedia
• Emerging Wireless Technologies (UWB, OFDM, RFID, Zigbee, etc.)

all members of the communications technology communities. They should be
written in a style comprehensible to readers outside the specialty of
the article. Articles should not exceed 4500 words. Figures and tables
should be limited to a combined total of six. Complete guidelines for

Call for Papers
Design and Implementation Series
The primary goal of Communications Magazine's Design and Implementation
Series of articles is to serve the needs of telecommunications and
telephony professionals in industry. Their jobs are often focused on
creating products and services that maximize return on investment and
that operate robustly across a broad range of environments. Typically,
though, engineering represents only a small fraction of the total R&D
effort. This is because many other factors must be taken into account
that are not considered on the chalkboard or in a proof-of-concept; for
example, interoperability, scalability (in both directions),
compatibility (in both directions), cost-of-goods, market dynamics,
security, effective user interfaces, technical risk, serviceability,
manageability, supportability, testability, availability, deployability,
recovery, packaging, etc.
The ability to design and implement solutions successfully in such a
complex environment is gained largely through experience and not through
literature searches or collaborations with industry peers. Hence, the
Design and Implementation Series seeks articles that provide practical
knowledge for creating products and services while retaining the
academically rigorous style and structure typical of Communications
Magazine articles. You can write about any telecommunications or
telephony topic, but we are particularly interested in IP telephony
applications and infrastructure, especially in markets where
non-traditional providers and vendors compete. Emphasize the factors
that contributed to the decision process for your design and
implementation, and tell us about the lessons learned, good or bad, from
the experience. As much as possible, these decision factors should be
generic enough to be applicable broadly to most telephony projects,
regardless of their design details, and thus of interest to
technologists outside the specialty of the article.
*Submission* Prospective authors are strongly encouraged to contact the
Series Editor before writing and submitting an article in order to
ensure that the article will be appropriate for the Series. The
submitted articles should not be published elsewhere or be under review
for any other conference or journal. Articles should be tutorial yet
rigorous in nature. Mathematical equations should not be used (although
some simple equations may be allowed if permission is granted by the
Series Editors and the Editor-in-Chief). Articles should not exceed 4500
words. Figures and tables should be limited to a combined total of six.
Complete guidelines for prospective authors can be found at
http://dl.comsoc.org/livepubs/ci1/info/sub_guidelines.html
Please send PDF (preferred) or MSWORD formatted papers to Manuscript
Central (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/commag-ieee), register or log

Call For Papers - Special Issue
*SUBMISSION DUE DATE: May 31, 2011*
*SPECIAL ISSUE ON Self-Aware and Adaptive Embedded Systems*
International Journal of Embedded and Real-Time Communication Systems
(IJERTCS)
*Guest Editors: *
Juha Plosila, University of Turku, Finland
Waltenegus Dargie, Technical University of Dresden, Germany
*INTRODUCTION:*
Self-aware and adaptive (SAA) systems are able to perceive the changes
in their status and the surrounding environment, and adapt to these
changes to provide an optimal performance. Self-adaptation and
self-optimization belong to the broad scope of autonomic computing. In
the research community as well as industry, one can observe the
emergence of self-aware and adaptive communication and embedded systems
in various forms, for instance, massively parallel processing, sensor
networks, and cyber-physical systems (CPS). They can be used extensively
in different application domains, including consumer electronics,
medical applications, smart houses, space applications, and automotive
electronics. Properly exploiting self-awareness and adaptation can
strongly benefit every major design concern in system development,
including cost and yield, power and energy efficiency, dependability and
security, as well as design productivity and time-to-market.
*OBJECTIVE OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE:*
The objective of this special issue of IJERTCS is to bring together
innovative works on self-aware and adaptive embedded and communication
systems. Articles in different application and system domains, both as
research papers and industrial case studies are requested. Works on the
design, modeling and analysis from each abstraction level (system,
architecture or circuit), as long as they improve our understanding of
self-aware and adaptive features and contribute to the development of
such systems are welcomed. Survey papers with an enlightening
perspective on the technology and a well-justified evaluation of its
future are also encouraged.
*RECOMMENDED TOPICS:*
Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not
limited to) the following (in the context of embedded and communication
systems):
* Theory, specification, modeling and implementation of self-aware
and adaptive systems
* Parallel and distributed SAA system architectures
* Application engineering for SAA Systems
* Study of awareness and adaptation for power and energy optimization
* Dependability and security issues in SAA systems
* Case studies and industrial applications (consumer electronics,
medical, automotives, smart houses, space and defense, etc.)
* Self-aware and adaptive cyber-physical systems (CPS) in the
embedded system context
* Wireless sensor networks with self-aware and adaptive features
* Formal methods in the design and verification of SAA systems
* Survey of state-of-the-art works
*SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:*
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this
special issue /*on or before May 31st, 2011.*/ All submissions must be

*** Verlängerung der Einreichungsfrist: 01. Mai 2011 ***
Abstraktionsschicht physischer Ressourcen in spezifischen
Anwendungsbereichen beziehen.
Rechnerarchitekturebenen
* Ansätze zur Effizienzsteigerung vorhandener Virtualisierungskonzepte
(z. B. Servervirtualisierung, Storage- Virtualisierung und
Netzwerkvirtualisierung)
* Anwendungen der Virtualisierung, kollektive Virtualisierung
* Lastbalancierungs- und Lastaggregierungsverfahren (z. B. Live
Migration-Technologien zur dynamischen Servervirtualisierung)
* Performanceuntersuchungen virtualisierter Komponenten
* Selbstorganisation in virtualisierten Umgebungen
* Aspekte der Virtualisierung, die zur Präzisierung des Virtualisierungs-
begriffs und Systematisierung von Virtualisierungskonzepten führen
Beiträge müssen bis zum 01. Mai anonymisiert über das webbasierte
Managementsystem eingereicht werden. Weitere Informationen finden
