Call for Papers:
*Scope*
Connected vehicles and automated vehicles represent different approaches to
improve vehicle safety on the road. The former leverages wireless
communication technologies to enhance mutual awareness among traffic
participants. The latter ramps up individual vehicles’ capability of
perception and control to achieve better decision making in the complex
driving environment. On the surface, the two technologies seem
complementary. Information shared by different traffic entities can be
added to a vehicle’s dynamic map, extending its perception horizon, and
uncovering None-Line-Of-Sight situations which otherwise would not be
available via its own onboard sensors. In return, the vehicle can send what
it observes through onboard sensors, which might help recipients avoid
previously unaware safety hazard. Furthermore, as reported in the
state-of-art research, individual vehicles may navigate themselves more
efficiently with global information gathered from others on the same road,
generating improved driving safety and efficiency.
However, the aforementioned complementary natures of vehicle connectivity
and automation do not assure the completed integration of these
technologies into vehicles and their interactions. There are questions
about the cost, benefits, timeline, performance, hardware/software
requirement and interface design of such an integrated system. Many of
these questions are nontrivial to answer as it needs joint efforts from
numerous technology areas. Fortunately, many scholars and research groups
have started to explore these questions, paving the road for a cohesive
integration of vehicle connectivity with vehicle automation system.
This special issue focuses on the most recent advancements in modeling,
wireless communications, vehicle perception, mapping and localization
technologies, which can improve the collaboration among individual
automated, human-driven, or autonomous vehicles and enable novel vehicular
cooperative applications. The goal is to bring together state-of-art
efforts in this interdisciplinary domain that analyzes and addresses the
challenges in enabling *C*ollaborative *S*ensing, *M*apping and *D*riving
(CSMD).
*Topics of Interests*
1) V2X (e.g., DSRC, LTE V2X, 5G NR V2X), V2N and V2C protocol design,
optimization, testing and evaluation for CSMD
2) Standards related to CSMD, including V2X, V2N and V2C communication,
semantics & ontologies, and IoT.
3) Wireless infrastructure (e.g, Edge Computing) development for CSMD
4) Innovative incentives for fair, safe & secure collaborative strategies
for CSMD
5) Infrastructure development
6) Data-driven and AI-enabled mechanisms for CSMD
7) CSMD modeling, simulation/validation platform & data sets
8) CSMD oriented use cases development, including report on international
and trans-border initiatives for CSMD.

Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] Deadline approaching: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics -- Special Section on Cyber-Physical Threats and Solutions for Autonomous Transportation Systems
(Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this
message)
*Call for papers: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics*
*Special Section on Cyber-Physical Threats and Solutions for Autonomous
Transportation Systems*
Theme: The rapid evolution of technology has radically changed our
everyday lives from multiple points of view. Among the others,
transportation systems are nowadays populated by smart and
interconnected vehicles that need to communicate with each other and
with critical infrastructures to orchestrate traffic and mobility.
Transportation systems are hence operated through multiple technologies
that need to cooperate to provide efficient delivery of goods and human
mobility, as well as to provide security in the overall networks. The
latter task is complicated by the fact that vehicles autonomously drive
and cooperate in the network without human intervention. The overall
transportation network can be therefore represented by a cyber-physical
system, where a large number of sensors, actuators, and multiple
technologies are connected and exchange information. To guarantee the
overall network
security, attack detection and the design of suitable countermeasures
play a fundamental role. The security of cyber-physical systems has been
widely studied in literature. However, most of the proposed solutions
target either the cyber or the physical threats, without providing a
unified view able to detect and mitigate more complicated attacks. The
purpose of this special issue is therefore to collect the latest
research achievements in the cyber-physical threats and countermeasures
in autonomous transportation systems.
This special section will focus on (but not limited to) the following
topics:
- Methods for detection of cyber-physical attacks in transportation systems
- Design of countermeasures for cyber-physical attacks in transportation
systems
- Hardware solutions for mitigating the attacks on controller area
networks of automotive
- Protocol and semantics agnostic security solutions to automotive CPS
- Formal modeling of cyber-physical attacks in transportation systems
- Privacy preserving solutions for cyber-physical transportation systems
- Cyber-physical threats in platoons/swarms
- Scalability of the security solutions in autonomous transportation systems
- Blockchain solutions against cyber-physical threats in autonomous
transportation systems
- Security testing of vulnerabilities in automotive CPS

CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Track on Networking and Applications for Mobile Objects in Land,
Water, and Sky
https://www.math.unipd.it/~cpalazzi/NAMO2022/
As part of the:
GoodIT 2022 - ACM International Conference on Information Technology for
Social Good
7-9 September 2021 Limassol, Cyprus - https://cyprusconferences.org/goodit2022/
Autonomous and human-controlled mobile objects are increasingly present in
water, land and sky scenarios, becoming an essential tool for fully
automated or human-assisted missions, services, and applications.
Smartphones and IoT devices are widespread in our cities, creating a
hyper-connected society. Groups of autonomous vehicles, even flying ones,
can perform actions and provide services and applications in several
application fields, such as environment, agriculture, disaster management
and recovery, smart cities, smart transportation and entertainment.
Intelligent vehicles provide new smart environments (cities, harbours,
factories, offices, homes, etc.) with the additional features given by
their actuation capabilities, which aim at improving, at the same time, the
performance of a specific mission as well as the performance of the
underlying communication network. The three different contexts: land, water
and sky, as well as the integrated contexts, have already gained momentum
showing the opportunities to provide benefits to our whole society.
However, to fully exploit this potential, we first have to address numerous
research issues, to design and develop reliable, green, affordable and
efficient networking and applications. This track focuses on the open
research challenges and their practical solutions, as well as on the
standardization activities and the applications and products already existing.
