Call for Papers: The 11th International Workshop on High Mobility Wireless
Communications (HMWC) 2022
19 - 22 June, 2022, Helsinki, Finland, in conjunction with VTC2022 Spring
Webpage link: https://vtc2022s-rr-wks.trackchair.com/track/2049
General Chair: Pingzhi Fan, Southwest Jiaotong University, China
General Chair: Shanzhi Chen, China Information Communication Technologies
Group corporation (CICT), China
TPC Chair: Shibo He, Zhejiang University, China
TPC Chair: Lei Yang, The University of Nevada, Reno, USA
Publicity Chair: Fangyuan Xing, Zhejiang University, China
Scope and Topics: The vision of future mobile communication systems is to
provide seamless high data rate wireless connections for anyone at anytime
and anywhere, including the high mobility scenarios such as high-speed
trains and highway vehicles. High mobility results in rapidly time-varying
channels, which pose significant challenges in the design of practical
systems, including channel modeling, fast handover, location management,
synchronization, estimation and equalization, anti-Doppler spread
techniques, coding and network capacity, capacity-approaching techniques,
dedicated network architectures, distributed antenna techniques etc. In
addition, with the development of vehicular networks, more rigorous
performance requirements (e.g., ultra-low latency and ultra-high
reliability) are also required for advanced driving applications such as
platooning, full automated driving, collective perception of environment
and so on, which makes the research and development of wireless systems
more challenging. Accordingly, the 11th international workshop on High
Mobility Wireless Communications (HMWC) aims at fostering fruitful
interactions among interested communication engineers, information
theorists and system designers from all over the world, building successful
collaborations and bridging the gap between theory and practice. Its topics
of interest include, but are not limited to:
Theoretical performance (e.g., data rate, delay, reliability, etc.)
limits for HMWC systems Rapidly time-varying channel modeling, estimation
and equalization Fast synchronization Doppler shift estimation &
compensation Doppler diversity and anti-Doppler techniques Efficient
modulation and detection techniques employed in high speed vehicles Fast
power control Fast handover and group handover Fast location update
Highly dynamic radio resource optimization Coding and network capacity
for HMWC systems Interference utilization and capacity approaching
techniques Multiple access schemes and ultra-low latency protocols for
HMWC systems Ultra-high reliability routing protocols for HMWC systems
Relay, distributive multi-antenna and cooperative techniques for HMWC
systems High-speed vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure
(V2I) radio systems Communication, Caching and Computation convergence
for HMWC systems Ultra-reliable and low-latency network architectures for
high speed environments 5G-based solutions for HMWC systems Machine
learning for HMWC systems Big data based analysis and optimization for
HMWC systems Channel measurement based performance evaluation

CALL FOR PAPERS
IEEE WoWMoM
Workshop 2022
NTN-6G: Non-Terrestrial Networks
in 6G Wireless
http://ntn-6g.unirc.it/ <http://ntn-6g.unirc.it/>
******************************************************************************************************************
Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) is growing in importance owing to its
capability to deliver the novel unmanned and
autonomous applications of next-to-come sixth-generation (6G) networks
anywhere and anytime and also provide
coverage in areas that are unreachable by any conventional Terrestrial
Network (TN). Spaceborne (i.e., GEO, MEO, and
LEO satellites) or airborne (i.e., Unmanned Aircraft Systems or UASs and
High Altitude Platforms or HAPs) vehicles
constituting the NTN may act either as a relay node or as a base station
and can be leveraged to complement TNs.
Compared to terrestrial wireless networks, NTNs have many distinctive
features, such as specific channel models, highly
dynamic network topologies, and weakly connected communication links. As a
consequence, solutions tailored to
terrestrial networks cannot be directly applied to NTNs. Hence, new
techniques suitable for NTNs need to be developed.
Furthermore, various satellite systems on different orbits remain isolated
‘islands’, and they are also disconnected from
the ground networks. Therefore, integrating all existing networks in air,
space, and on ground into a unified system will
be essential for 6G.
The purpose of the NTN-6G Workshop is to provide a platform for the
discussion of the major research challenges, latest
developments and recent advances in Non-Terrestrial Networks in 6G Wireless
Networks.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Smart Radio Resource Management Techniques for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Integration of Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Broadcast/Multicast services over Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- SDN and NFV solutions for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Device and network virtualization in Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Edge, Fog, and Cloud computing architectures for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Security, privacy, and trust management in Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning-based approaches in
Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Above 6 GHz: millimeter-wave, Terahertz-band, optical wireless
communication for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Interference issues in Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Channel models for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Multi-antennas technologies for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Network Management & Control Issues for Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Standardization and evolution of Non-Terrestrial Networks;
- Novel IoT application and use-cases enabled by Non-Terrestrial Networks;

The 3rd IEEE Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Trends in Engineering
Low-Power Networks
(NewNets 2022) -- https://newnets2022.github.io
Hybrid event co-located with CPS-IoT Week -- May 3, 2022
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A founding pillar of the IoT concept is the availability of low-cost
low-power devices with wireless technologies providing sensing,
communication, and actuation. In the past decade, the research community
have produced proven solutions to build low-power mesh networks.
Traditionally, the focus has been on short-range radio communication (e.g.,
ZigBee, Bluetooth, and ZWave). An appealing alternative that have gained
momentum in the IoT landscape, is to equip the nodes with long-range low
power radio modules. As a result, long-range radio communication
technologies (e.g., SigFox, LoRa, NB-IoT, and 802.15.4g) are considered as
candidate technologies for many low power wide area network (LPWAN)
applications, especially those that require extended coverage such as
citywide sensing, environmental monitoring, or remote infrastructure
monitoring.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners
working in the field of IoT from both academia and industry, to discuss and
explore short- and long-range solutions, the tradeoffs between these two
paradigms, as well as how they can be used in synergy. In order to
push the state of the art, several points need to be addressed: new
features for the long-range technologies (i.e., over-the-air updates,
roaming), radio resource management, regulations and policies on spectrum
usage and sharing, business case analysis that are more well suited for
certain vertical markets.
*** Call for Papers ***
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- protocol design
- hardware platform design
- modeling and analysis of low-power short or/and long-range communication
- reliability, adaptability, and dependability of short and long-range
communication solutions
- new features for the long-range technologies (i.e., over-the-air updates,
roaming)
- wake-up radios for short- or/and long-range technologies
- radio resource management
- satellite IoT solutions
- applications domains (e.g., smart cities, smart health, smart buildings,
smart transportation)
- anomaly detection
- security solutions
- deployment experiences, case studies, and lessons learned
- evaluation and testbeds
- regulations and policies on spectrum usage and sharing
- business case analysis that are more well suited for certain vertical
markets.
*** Submission Instructions ***
Submitted papers must contain between 4 and 6 single spaced U.S. letter
pages, including all figures, tables, and references. All submissions must
be written in English.
Submissions should be formatted using the standard IEEE template for
Microsoft Word or LaTeX.

Notification of acceptance: February 28, 2022
Camera-ready: March 7, 2022
Workshop date: May 3, 2022
