CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
ACC 2006, 2nd IEEE WoWMoM Workshop on Autonomic Communications and
Computing, Niagara-Falls, Buffalo-NY.
26 June 2006
http://www.autonomic-communication.org/acc/index.html
Ubiquitous and self-organized Internet, ad hoc networks, wireless sensor
networks are expected to be some of the basic building blocks of
pervasive computing environments. However, the promise of pervasive
computing environments will not be realized unless these systems can
effectively "disappear". In order to do that they need to become
autonomous by managing their own evolution and configuration changes
without explicit user or administrator action.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum between the autonomic
computing and autonommic communication communities to exchange ideas,
discuss solutions, and share experiences among researchers,
professionals, and application developers both from industry and academia.
*
Architecture and models for autonomic communication and computing
systems
*
Tools and techniques for designing, analyzing and building
autonomic systems and networks
*
Adaptive security for self protection of systems and networks
*
Economic, biological and social models used for autonomic
communications
*
Novel management techniques for autonomic communication and
computing systems
*
Sensing, monitoring and measurements for self-managing systems and
networks
*
Languages, development and securely programmable environments for
autonomic communications systems
*
Advanced technologies for enabling autonomic communication and
computing systems
*
Autonomic communication and computing testbeds and measurements

Second International workshop on Wireless Traffic Measurements and Modeling
(WiTMeMo'06)
August 5, 2006 Boston
http://www.witmemo.org/
in conjunction with the
Second Annual International Wireless Internet Conference (WICON)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scope
-----
The rapid deployment of wireless infrastructures in various
environments triggers new applications and services that in turn
generate a richer set of traces for analysis. There is a need for
more realistic models of traffic, mobility, and association patterns.
This can be beneficial in capacity planning, administration, and
deployment of wireless infrastructures, protocol design for wireless
applications and services, and their performance analysis.
The Wireless Traffic Measurements and Modeling workshop is intended to
serve as a forum for scientists and engineers in academia and industry
to exchange and discuss their experiences and research results about
all aspects of measurements and modeling of applications, usage,
access, load, and mobility in wireless networks. It will also initiate
discussions on how to use these models to improve the performance of
wireless networks. Furthermore, it aims in enhancing and accelerating
the process of sharing traces, implementations, and test suites.
In this workshop, we would like to solicit short, 6-page papers that
report on experiences obtained from operational wireless experiments in
testbeds or the field. Along with regular presentations we plan to have
invited speakers and/or panel discussions that encourage more active
participation of the attendees.
Topics of particular interest include but are not limited to:
* Methods for collecting and analyzing measurements in different
wireless environments (infrastructures, sensor networks)
* Workload characterization and traffic analysis
* User mobility modeling
* Measurements and predictions of user access over multiple networks
*Software tools in support of measurements
* Measurement-based inference of network properties (for normal or
abnormal behavior, network topology, hot spots)
* Design of monitoring systems, sampling methods, and anomaly detection
* Temporal and spatial evolution of wireless networks
* Evaluation of forecasting algorithms for wireless traffic load
* Comparative analysis on different wireless networks
* Techniques for improving the repeatability of tests

CALL FOR PAPERS
************* EuMob 2006 ****************
European Symposium on Mobile Media Delivery
September 20, 2006 :: Alghero, Sardinia, Italy
_http://www.eumob.org_
part of MobiMedia 2006 (see _http://www.mobimedia.org_)
-------------------------------------------------
Organized by the European FP6 research projects "Ambient Networks" and
"M-Pipe".
******** IMPORTANT DEADLINES ********************
-------------------------------------------------
Paper submission: May 15, 2006
Notification of acceptance: June 15, 2006
Submission of camera-ready papers: July 10, 2006
SCOPE
--------------------------------------
Mobile multimedia services is a hotter topic than ever before. Network
operators offer multimedia services over mobile networks but it is still
limited to particular devices on specific networks. The delivery of
multimedia content to every mobile handset on every mobile network,
anytime and anywhere is still a major challenge. Mobile media can be
delivered via a multitude of different networks with very different
characteristics like cellular networks (WCDMA, HSDPA, 3G MBMS),
broadcast networks (DVB-H, DMB) or other networks standards like WLAN or
Wimax. Mobile terminals like mobile phones, mobile TVs or handheld
computers have different capabilities and characteristics. Consequently,
seamless interworking between these terminals and networks is becoming
more important in order to make uniform media delivery possible. New
mobile multimedia services for large user groups like MobileTV,
interactive TV, video on demand, TV chatting and multimedia telephony
are arising. Each service has its own characteristics and demands for
mobile media delivery. As always for mobile services spectrum efficiency
is a pre-requisite for large scale deployment.
Several European research projects from the FP6 program are addressing
the challenges of mobile media delivery. Due to the interdisciplinary
nature of mobile media delivery, projects from the mobile and wireless
area like Ambient Networks, PHOENIX and DAIDALOS, from the networked
audiovisual systems area like DANAE, ENTHRONE and Visnet as well as from
the content technologies area like M-Pipe are dealing with mobile media
delivery. Besides these projects a lot other research work about mobile
media delivery is carried at academia, research institutes and
industrial companies.
EuMob 2006 will give researchers the opportunity to highlight their
latest results on this topic. Researchers active in FP6 research
projects as well as other leading international researchers will
participate and share their latest findings. Original unpublished
contributions are solicited dealing with topics of mobile media delivery
like:
o Architectures for mobile media delivery
o Next generation mobile media delivery frameworks
o Overlay networks for mobile media delivery
o Peer-2-Peer networks for mobile media delivery
o Multimedia service composition for mobile media
o Solutions for optimized media delivery and transport over
heterogeneous networks
o QoS problems and solutions
o Network convergence for media delivery
o Media adaptation to networks and devices
o Network-based mobile media adaptation and pro-active caching
o Cross-layer communication for mobile media delivery
o (Scalable) source coding for mobile media
o Source/channel coding, joint optimizations
o Efficient usage of radio and spectrum resources
o Mobile media delivery for multi-user services
o Interactive mobile broadcast and Mobile TV
o Security and protection for mobile media delivery
o Context-aware mobile media delivery
