Hochschullehre in Betracht. Das Spektrum der Einreichungen ist bewusst
weit gefasst. Beispiele und Anregungen finden Sie insbesondere in der
Projektdatenbank aller Einreichungen der vergangenen
Ausschreibungsrunden unter www.medidaprix.org
<http://www.medidaprix.org/> Ã projekte/projektsuche
<http://www.medidaprix.org/mdd_2006/perl/dynframeset.pl?topnav=top6&scrp=2&s…>
bzw. projekte/finalisten seit 2000
<http://www.medidaprix.org/mdd_2006/perl/dynframeset.pl?topnav=top6&scrp=1&s…>).

Subject: [Tccc] CFP IEEE COM MAG Special Issue on QoS based Routing Algorithms
for heterogeneous networks

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Please note the following CFP: Deadline for Papers Submission is june 1st.
Call for Papers: IEEE Communications Magazine,
http://www.comsoc.org/pubs/commag/cfpcommag0207.htm
Special Issue on "Quality of Service based Routing Algorithms for
Heterogeneous Networks"
Background
Currently, due to the growing needs in telecommunications (VoD,
Video-Conference, VoIP, etc.) and the diversity of transported flows,
Internet network does not meet the requirements of future
integrated-service networks, which will carry out multimedia data traffic
with a high Quality of Service (QoS). Therefore, it is necessary to develop
a high quality control mechanism to check the network traffic load and
ensure QoS requirements. It's clear that the integration of these QoS
parameters will increase the complexity of the algorithms used in
heterogeneous networks. Thus, there will be QoS relevant technological
challenges in today emerging heterogeneous networks that include different
types of networks (e.g., wired, wireless, mobile, etc.). We shall focus in
this special topic on QoS routing policies, and their effectiveness on
heterogeneous wired and wireless networks. Thus, in this special issue, we
are seeking papers that explore routing algorithms which take into account
the dynamic's change of communication networks and discuss their advantages
and drawbacks when compared to traditional solutions. Compared to the
previous special issues on the integration of QoS, this issue will focus on
a tutorial-based approach, and on the evolution of routing decisions
applied in heterogeneous networks, which may include the load level traffic
patterns and topology of the network changes, that the routing policy
adapts the decision's router.
Scope of Contributions
Authors are encouraged to submit both theoretical and practical results of
significance on all aspects of QoS routing policies and related areas with
concrete experimental studies to show the validity of their approach. We
solicit papers covering a variety of topics that include, but are not
limited to :
- Dynamic state-dependent routing policies
- Quality of Service policies versus Best effort policies
- Routing in hybrid Networks
- Dynamic Routing in inband or outband network control protocols
- Traffic shaping in QoS Routing
- Policy-Based Management in QoS Routing
- Ad hoc networking routing solutions for heterogenous wired and
wireless networks
- The role of dynamic routing in irregular traffic networks
- QoS based routing and data gathering protocols for wireless sensor
networks

HOT TOPIC PAPERS:
The conference also strongly encourages the submission of short papers
in the field of mobile computing and wireless networking that present
revolutionary new ideas or that challenge existing assumptions
prevalent among the research community. These "Hot Topic papers"
should provide stimulating ideas or visions that may open up exciting
avenues and/or influence the direction of future
research. Descriptions of new products or evolution of existing work
are not appropriate topics for papers in this category. While an
exhaustive evaluation of the proposed ideas is not necessary for Hot
Topic papers, insight and in-depth understanding of the issues is
expected. Hot Topic papers will be reviewed by MobiCom program
committee, and accepted papers will be part of the technical program
and published in MobiCom proceedings. They should be submitted using
the same submission procedure adopted for the full papers. The title
of these submissions must start with the words "Hot Topic:" i.e.,
"Hot Topic: Rest of the Title."
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Authors should
prepare a Portable Document Format (PDF) version of their full
paper. Papers must be no longer than 12 pages (8 pages for "Hot Topic"
papers), in font size no smaller than 10 points, and must fit properly
on US "Letter"-sized paper (8.5x11 inches) with reasonable
margins. Detailed instructions on the paper submission procedure and

Ad hoc networking technologies have big potentialities for
innovative applications of great impact on our everyday life.
To exploit these potentialities, simulation modeling and
theoretical analyses have to be complemented by real experiences
(e.g., measurements on real prototypes) which provide both a
direct evaluation of ad hoc networks and, at the same time,
precious information to realistically model these systems.
The need for more experimental activities stimulated a new
community of researchers combining theoretical research on
ad hoc networking with experiences/measurements obtained by
implementing ad hoc network prototypes. The aim of REALMAN is to
bring together this community. Following the success of the first
edition, this workshop constitutes a unique forum for presenting
and discussing measurement studies and experiences based on real
ad hoc network test-beds and prototypes.
Original contributions are solicited, related to systems and
protocols *development*, *measurement* and *testing*, in all
areas related to ad hoc networking. We encourage authors willing
to submit a regular paper to also submit a *demo* proposal.

OVERVIEW
Since 1994, IWQoS has evolved into a premier workshop providing an
international forum for the presentation and discussion of cutting edge
research on quality of service (QoS). Building on the successes of previous
workshops, the objective of IWQoS 2006 is to bring together researchers,
developers, and practitioners working in the area to discuss timely research
results, and to identify future directions and challenges in developing
practical computer/networking systems where predictable, controlled, and robust
performance is a central requirement. The workshop's scope will broadly cover
all the important aspects of QoS research: in networking (wireline, wireless,
and sensor networks), distributed systems, operating systems, servers, and
middleware (such as grid computing and peer-to-peer systems), where relevant
technical issues include availability, reliability, security, pricing,
incentive, resource management, and performance guarantees.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
o QoS in grid, peer-to-peer, overlay, and wireless mesh networks
o QoS in large-scale distributed systems
o System dependability, availability, resilience, and robustness
o Security as a QoS parameter
o Rationality, incentive, microeconomics, and self-interest in
decentralized networks
o QoS in wireless, mobile, ad hoc, and sensor networks
o QoS specification, translation, and adaptation
o Measurement-based QoS estimation and verification
o QoS in intranets and VoIP systems
We also solicit papers in the following areas:
o QoS architectures and protocols

CALL FOR PAPERS
Second International Workshop on
Multi-hop Ad hoc Networks: from theory to reality
REALMAN 2006
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/realman
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
in conjunction with MobiHoc 2006
jointly organized by
University of Cambridge, UK
CNR-Institute for Informatics and Telematics, I
May 26, 2006
Florence, Italy
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Ad Hoc Networks Applications
* System Prototypes and Experiences
* Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
* Opportunistic and Delay Tolerant Networks
* Sensor Networks
* Mesh Networks
* Vehicular Networks
* Protocols Implementation and Testing

DEMO SESSION
A demo session will be held during the workshop, showing real prototypes
at work. Demo proposals are highly welcome, and will be evaluated by the
Program Committee. An extended abstract (up to three pages)
describing the
demo will be published in the workshop proceedings. More
information on demo-proposal submission can be found at
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/realman.
PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
Papers must not be already under submission for any other
publication. Paper
submissions for regular papers must be limited to 8 pages including
text,
figures, references, and appendices; single- or double-column are
fine for

************************************************************
Ad hoc networks have attracted the attention of the research
community in the last several years. Now that some of the
fundamental issues and challenges of ad hoc networking have
been clearly assessed, the focus is partially shifting to
new issues, which include application scenarios (road
safety, disaster recovery, sensors and actuators, etc.),
autonomous Organization and operation, optimization and
control, service creation and support, middleware. Moreover,
wireless MESH networking is emerging as an "ad hoc spin-off"
aimed at extending and integrating the multi-hop paradigm
with more traditional networking, which poses new and
exciting technical challenges.
Med-Hoc-Net 2006 is the major annual international workshop
aiming to serve as a platform for researchers and
visionaries from academia, research labs, and industry from
all over the world. Sharing ideas, views, results, and
experiences in the field of wireless multi-hop networking is
what Med-Hoc-Net 2006 intends to be about. Anything from
theoretical and experimental achievements, to innovative ad
hoc systems, prototyping efforts, and case studies is of
interest to the Med-Hoc-Net community.
