> Workshop on End-to-End Monitoring Techniques and Services (E2EMON)
> 15th May 2005, Nice-Acropolis, Nice, France
> http://www.ieee-im.org/e2emon
> In conjunction with IFIP/IEEE International Symposium on Integrated
> Network Management (IM2005)
>
> E2EMON is a workshop focusing on advances in monitoring technology, and
> particularly new distributed monitoring techniques for emerging
> technologies such as Grid, overlay, p2p and Ad hoc networks, and
> end-to-end path measurements. E2EMON offers a unique opportunity for
> researchers in this area to exchange ideas and experiences to develop
> next-generation monitoring systems. The workshop also provides an
> intimate setting for discussion and debate through panels and group
> work. The program committee is soliciting original papers describing
> research in the area of e2e monitoring. Accepted papers will be
> published in the workshop's preceedings and a selection may be
> published
> in an international journal (details will be provided later). The
> participants in this workshop will have the added advantage of meeting
> a
> lot of the attendees of IM2005, which draws many leading researchers in
> the field of Network and Systems Management.

* CALL FOR PAPERS *
**********************************************************************
Scope of ConWiN 2005:
=====================
The advances in the wireless communication technologies have enabled
the realization of wide range of heterogeneous wireless networks from
wireless local area networks (WLANs), several generations (2G/3G) of
wireless cellular networks to mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) and
wireless sensor networks (WSN). This technological evolution is
further inspiring researchers to envision the next generation wireless
networking architectures and even the space Internet.
Next Generation Wireless Internet (NGWI) will be the convergence of
these heterogeneous wireless networks and the next generation Internet
to provide mobile users with a wide range of high resource demanding
services such as high speed reliable data and real-time multimedia
delivery. While the unique characteristics of each of these wireless
networks pose diverse set of challenges, their integration severely
expands the set of open research problems for seamless, efficient, and
reliable communication. Therefore, there exists an urgent need for a
significant research effort to focus on solving these new challenges
posed by the integration and the convergence of these wireless
heterogeneous networks.
The objective of ConWiN 2005 is to provide a research platform where
researchers bring their contributions to light by presenting their
technical papers on the issues regarding the integration and the
convergence of heterogeneous wireless networks. Papers solicited in
ConWiN 2005 spans a wide range of areas of interest including but
not limited to:
- Physical layer issues for the convergence of heterogeneous wireless
communication technologies
- Novel and adaptive communication protocols at all layers, i.e.,
MAC layer problems, routing, reliable and multimedia transport, for
integration of diverse wireless systems such as WLANs, 3G, and WSNs
- Novel and practical communication architectures for the convergence
of heterogeneous wireless networks
- Efficient mobility/handoff management protocols for seamless roaming
within the converged communication architecture
- Killer applications/services for the convergence towards the NGWI
- Security, authentication, and billing solutions for the converged
architecture

Subject: Changes in Computer Communications Review (CCR)
Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 09:03:49 -0500
From: Erich Nahum <nahum(a)turing.acm.org>
Reply-To: Erich Nahum <nahum(a)turing.acm.org>
To: SIGCOMM-MEMBERS(a)LISTSERV.ACM.ORG
CCR is evolving!
To push forward the changes successfully begun by John Wroclawski, CCR
is starting a new life with the April 2005 issue, with a new editor in
chief (Christophe Diot from Intel Research) and a new editorial board
(see names below). The goal is for CCR to strengthen its role as the
network community newsletter in which we are each involved and contribute.
CCR will publish papers in the general field of data communications
characterized primarily by quality of the work and timeliness of
publication. CCR will encourage publication of "works in progress",
provided they are of good caliber. Experience papers, system papers, and
papers reproducing others' results, should find a home in CCR, as long
as the quality is high enough and useful to the community.
To achieve the quality and timeliness goals, the reviewing turn-over
will be three months, with an implicit submission deadline every
quarter. The decisions will be either accept or reject. Each paper will
be published with a public review that will synthesize the reviewers'
opinion.
In addition to papers, CCR will publish a news-like section which will
include articles based on input from research community members -
faculty members, junior researchers, students, industry researchers,
etc. The scope for such articles will span topics such as interviews of
research scientists and industry leaders, editorials, conference
reports, summary standards, NSF or European Commission user manuals,
arguments on a research topic, outrageous opinion column, favorite hits,
What's Worth Reading, and so on.
To conclude, we ask networking researchers (and SIGCOMM members in
particular) to take to heart that CCR is your newsletter and its content
is made by you! Please send your short columns, editorials, articles,
etc. We will review them and strive our best to publish them.
Christophe Diot, Editor in Chief
Jennifer Rexford, SIGCOMM chair
Vern Paxson, SIGCOMM vice-chair

Overview:
The International Workshop on Web Caching and Content
Distribution (WCW) serves as the premiere meeting for researchers and
practitioners to exchange results and visions on all aspects of
content distribution, and delivery. Innovations in content delivery
systems continue to have strong impact in the Internet, resulting in a
surge of interest in both content delivery applications and the
web/network infrastructure that supports novel content delivery
applications. Starting from basic caching, research in content
distribution has broadened its scope to cover practically all areas
related to the intersection of content and networking, including such
areas as peer-to-peer, data grid computing, utility and edge
computing, application networking, wireless content delivery,
pervasive networking and content computing. Building on the success of
the previous WCW meetings, WCW10 plans to form a strong technical
program that covers the newest and most interesting areas relating to
content delivery services as they move through the Internet.
Call for Papers:
The workshop solicits technical papers related to Internet content
delivery, caching and replication, and content services
networking. Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited
to:
-Content delivery architectures
-P2P file sharing, storage, and content delivery
-Caching and content distribution for mobile wireless systems
-Web caching and replication (protocols and architectures)
-Edge services and dynamic content caching
-Multimedia content distribution
-Overlay networks for content delivery
-Content placement and request routing

Call for Papers GMW05 - 10. Europäische Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft
für Medien in der Wissenschaft
13.-16. September 2005 in Rostock
http://www.gmw05.de/sites/organisation/cfp_gmw.pdf
Alle Informationen zu dieser Tagung, einschließlich der
Einreichungsrichtlinien, finden Sie auf der Konferenz-Website
http://www.gmw05.de
