VTC 2004-Spring IEEE Semiannual Vehicular Technology Conference May 11-14, 2004 Magazzini del Cotone GENOA, ITALY
SYMPOSIUM ON
"INTERWORKING BETWEEN WIRELESS LANs AND 3G NETWORKS"
The integration of WLANs and 3G networks, such as GSM/GPRS, UMTS, cdma2000, etc, has recently evolved into a very hot topic. The recent evolution and successful deployment of WLAN systems has fueled the need for this integration. Several forums and standardization bodies worldwide have already taken initiatives for exploiting WLAN technology and integrating this technology into 3G networks. In this context, many technical challenges need to be resolved such as those associated with vertical handovers across WLAN and 3G radio technologies, security, 3G-based authentication, 3G network selection, consistent provision of quality of service, etc.
The VTC 2004-Spring symposium on > "> Interworking between Wireless LANs and 3G Networks> "> aims to address the above challenges and to focus on efficient interworking solutions. It also aims at reporting the recent results of related R&D and standardization activities worldwide. Papers are solicited in the following representative areas:
*> 3G-based authentication *> Security issues *> Access to 3G-based services (e.g. WAP, MMS) from WLANs *> Access to 3G multimedia services from WLANs *> Seamless session handover between WLAN and 3G *> WLAN information advertisement *> 3G network selection *> Consistent QoS across WLAN and 3G *> 3G-based online/offline billing *> 3G voice services over WLANs *> Interworking architectures and scenarios *> Value added services with WLAN-3G integration *> Performance evaluation studies *> Standardization activities *> Extension of location services to WLANs.
TECHNICAL PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Online submission is available at the conference Web site http://www.vtc2004spring.com/. Authors should submit a short abstract (200 words) and an extended abstract (up to 1000 words) through the electronic submission interface (EDAS system) by selecting the "Interworking between WLANs and 3G networks" area. Extended abstracts are requested in PDF format. The submission must include the name, complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and the email address of the author(s). For conference details, please refer to the Conference Web site.
