Call for Papers - MUCS 2014 ===========================
Extended Paper Submission: Nov 15, 2013
11th International Workshop on Managing Ubiquitous Communications and Services MUCS 2014 http://ubiquitous-management.org/mucs/2014
will be held as a full-day workshop on Monday, March 24, 2014, as part of the 12th Annual IEEE Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications PerCom 2014 in Budapest, Hungary (24-28 March 2014).
Scope =====
Ubiquitous Communications and Services, as evidenced in pervasive computing and smart space applications, present significant management challenges for successful delivery of highly adaptive services across heterogeneous networks comprising mobile, ad-hoc and opportunistic communications. Such challenges include: managing user-centric and context-based services, distribution and scalability, system, network, and semantic heterogeneity, ad hoc formation and disassociation of systems and services, intelligent support for user-centric as well as global applications. In essence, service delivery in dynamic and heterogeneous systems needs to be adaptive, scalable, and seamless.
Since 2003, the MUCS workshop has provided a very successful forum for researchers and practitioners to explore the theoretic, technological and organizational challenges, and to present advances in management techniques and technologies for pervasive computing and smart space applications.
The workshop provides a single-track scientific program containing a blend of keynote presentations from leaders in research in this area, peer-reviewed papers, and a panel. The goal of the workshop is to investigate the state of the art in managing services and communications for pervasive applications.
Topics ======
Topics for the workshop include (but are not limited to) the management aspects of:
- Internet of Things - Federated pervasive environments - End-to-end communications - Context-aware management and configuration - Knowledge representation techniques and ontologies for pervasive services - Security, privacy, and trust management in ubiquitous communications and services - Adaptive technologies and techniques for communications and services - User-centric service and network Management - Maintenance of quality of service in heterogeneous pervasive environments - Policy based communications and services - Content oriented communications and services - Communications and Services for specific applications - Machine-to-machine Communications - Communications and Services for Smart Cities, Smart Grids, eHealth
Paper Submission Guideline ==========================
Paper submissions must present original, unpublished research or experiences. Late-breaking advances and work-in-progress reports from ongoing research are also encouraged.
Authors are requested to submit papers limited to 6 pages in IEEE 8.5x11 conference format, and formatted in accordance with the IEEE Computer Society author guidelines.
The templates can be found here: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting
No-shows of accepted papers at the workshop will result in those papers NOT being included in the IEEE Digital Library. Extended version of high quality, selected papers will be invited to be published in Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing Journal.
Direct your questions to the Program Chairs (see website for email address):
Dirk Pesch Mohan J Kumar
Please submit your paper electronically in PDF format to EDAS http://edas.info/N15445
Proceedings ===========
Electronic proceedings will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital libraries (Xplore). Hardcopy proceedings will be published through the Multicon Lecture Notes series with ISBN. Selected papers will be invited to be extended and submitted for a special track in Elsevier's Pervasive and Mobile Computing (PMC) Journal.
