The current inter-networking paradigm, although highly successful as exemplified by the Internet, has become sub-optimal due to its sheer popularity. There has always been an answer to all requirements, no matter whether caused by new applications or technologies. So, over time the formerly simple and clear Internet architecture became a patchwork of new balconies, workarounds and bypasses. In this conference track we should discuss the two mainstreams in this area: the “Clean-Slate Approach” as well as the “Evolutionary Approach”.
Beside future networks also new applications especially in the Grid using collaboratively distributed computer resources are emerging and becoming popular. One of the major goals in Grid computing is to hide its complexity from the software developers and end users resulting in new approaches for Grid architects, middleware and application developers.
We invite you to contribute to this conference track by submitting papers in one or more of the categories outlined below.
Multimedia
• IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) • (Multimedia) Information systems for emergency services • Integration of IP and broadcast services • Middleware and reflective systems support for wireless multimedia • Ambient multimedia services • Home entertainment • Gaming
Telecommunications
• Future Internet (Clean-Slate versus Evolution) • Embracing P2P communities as a new business approach for Telcos • Access networks • Layer-2 Technologies • Self-engineering communications • Performance evaluation of fixed and mobile networks • QoS control and scheduling • Security
Grid Computing
• Programming models, tools and environments • Software architectures and middleware • Virtualization • Robustness, fault-tolerance and self-healing • Scalability • Data distribution and data access • Ad-hoc computing grids • Integration of problem solving environments • Distributed applications
We encourage submissions demonstrating the potential of new approaches by providing case studies, experiments, and quantitative data.
Submission of papers --------------------
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit a PDF version of their paper to
Papers should not exceed 8 pages (in IEEE/CS proceedings format; 10pt, single-space, double-column) or 6000 words and include an abstract of up to 150 words. A cover page should clearly show the name, mailing address, e-mail address and fax number of the author to contact, as well as the topic areas of the submitted paper. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings by IEEE. Selected papers will be offered the opportunity to appear as extended versions in a special issue of a scholarly journal.
The following signed statement should be included on the cover page: "Neither this paper nor any version close to it has been or is being offered elsewhere for publication. All necessary clearances have been obtained for the publication of this paper. If accepted, the paper will be made available in Camera-ready forms by June 6th 2008, and it will be personally presented at the EUROMICRO 2008 Conference by the author or one of the co-authors. The presenting author(s) will pre-register (full fee) for EUROMICRO 2008 before the due date of the Camera-ready paper."
