-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Communications and networking embody the heart and the nerve system of the information technology -- a technology that is profoundly affecting our daily lives. Experts, researchers, managers, and entrepreneurs in this dynamic field often encounter challenges that lead to innovative basic as well as applied research and developments.
You are invited to submit full papers reporting original work to a forum where experts from industry and academia meet and exchange ideas on the topics. This international forum provides a bridge between the communications industry and academic research laboratories.
All accepted papers will also be published in the ACM Digital Library. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We welcome papers describing design principles as well as applications pertinent to communications and networks with special emphasis on modeling and simulation. Papers are solicited in the following (but not limited to) area of interests for peer review and presentation in the conference:
Network Security and Management Network Design and Performance Analysis Wireless Communications and Mobile Networks Traffic Engineering and Measurements Clusters and Grid Computing & Communications Distributed Simulation and Real Time Systems Application of High Level Architecture for Networking Industry Network Centric Defense Application Network Centric Virtual Environments Virtual Environments for Training Web-Based Simulation and Applications Peer-to-Peer Communications and Computations Dynamic Data Driven and Sensor Networks Data Communications and Protocols Ad Hoc Networks and Applications Large Scale Networks Load Balancing and Congestion Control Simulation Tools for Communications and Networks Internet and Mobile QoS Architectures Modeling Techniques, Verification and Validation
Best Paper Award ----------------
A paper will be selected for the Best Paper Award. The selected paper will be published in a special issue of Modeling & Simulation Magazine.
Tutorials and Workshops -----------------------
* * Using and Extending NS3; presented by George Riley, Georgia Institute of Technology
The US National Science Foundation has funded a multi-year effort, led by Tom Henderson at University of Washington and George Riley of Georgia Institute of Technology, to create a new network simulation environment. The new simulation, called NS3, will be completely open source, and is intended to supersede the aging NS2 simulator. The design team took a clean sheet of paper approach, and has designed the basic framework for simulating computer networks. In this tutorial, I will discuss the basic design of NS3, including event list management, memory management, data packet representation, protocol stack data flow, statistics collection, and random variables. We will then go through several example NS3 simulations, showing by example how to create and run a simulation using NS3.
Proposals are also invited for tutorials and workshops to be presented at CNS 08. The proposal should include the tutorial or workshop objectives, a brief description (500 words), an outline, proposed length (one-hour, two-hour, or four-hour) and, a short professional resume of the instructor. Key dates are the same as paper submission dates. Tutorial and workshop presentation materials (in PDF or MS PowerPoint format) and handouts (in PDF, MS Word or MS PowerPoint format) are due by the camera ready due date. For submissions and additional information regarding tutorials and workshops, please contact the Chairs.
Paper Submission ----------------
Original papers should be submitted to the SCS Conference Proceedings Management System at:
http://www.scs.org/springsim/submission/ All papers must include the authors' affiliation and e-mail addresses of all authors. The e-mail addresses should be related to the authors' institutions and not public portals. Paper formatting instructions and copyright form are available at:
http://www.scs.org/Conferences.cfm
All papers will be fully refereed for accuracy, technical content, and relevance. Papers should be no longer than 8 single-spaced double-column pages. At least one author must pre-register for the conference, paying the full registration fee, in order to have their paper included in the CD. Accepted papers will appear in the ACM digital library.
Contact the Chairs with any questions concerning the paper submission and review process, or questions regarding the relevance of a paper to the conference.
