The First ACM SIGSPATIAL International Workshop on Mobile Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL MobiGIS 2012) November 6, 2012 - Redondo Bench, CA, USA http://www.mobigis.org
In conjunction with the 20th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS) November 6 - 9, 2012 http://acmgis2012.cs.umd.edu
Call For Papers
Background. Combining the functionality of mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), wireless communication (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3/4G), and positioning technologies (GPS, Assisted GPS and GLONASS) results in a new era of mobile geographic information systems (MobiGISs) that aim at providing various invaluable services, including location-based services, intelligent transportation systems, logistics management, security and safety, etc. Many MobiGISs have been developed to solve challenging real-world problems and improve our quality of life.
Goal. ACM SIGSPATIAL MobiGIS 2012 will bring together researchers and practitioners from the GIS community, the mobile computing community, and the data management community, etc. MobiGIS's goal is to foster an opportunity for researchers to gather and discuss ideas that will shape and influence emerging GIS-related research areas.
The scope of MobiGIS includes but is not limited to the following topics:
* Spatio-temporal context-aware computing * Spatio-temporal participatory sensing * Spatio-temporal remote sensing * Spatio-temporal data mining * Intelligent transportation systems * Indoor navigation systems * Location-aware e-business and recommender systems * Logistics management systems * Spatio-temporal query modeling, execution and optimization * Mobile social networks * Mobile localization * Mobile surveillance * Augmented reality for GIS * Location privacy and security for GIS * Mobile ad-hoc networks for GIS * Mobile cloud computing for GIS * Mobile sensor networks for GIS * Mobility management for GIS * Mobility-aware modeling, systems and architecture for GIS * Mobility-aware intelligent systems for GIS * Smartphone applications for GIS * Distributed and parallel processing for mobile GIS * Middleware support for mobile GIS * Pervasive computing for mobile GIS * Web services for mobile GIS
One author per accepted workshop paper is required to register for the conference and workshop, to attend the workshop and to present the accepted paper. Otherwise, the accepted paper will not appear in the workshop proceedings or in the ACM Digital Library version of the workshop proceedings. Accepted papers will be considered for "Best Paper Award".
Paper Submission. We welcome submissions of research papers, vision papers, and work-in-progress papers describing novel and interesting ideas or innovative applications. A research paper should not exceed 8 pages, and a vision or work-in-progress paper should not exceed 4 pages. All manuscripts should be submitted in PDF format and formatted using the ACM SIG Proceedings templates available at:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates
All research, vision, and work-in-progress papers should be submitted using the workshop management system:
