5TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING FOR SWARMS ROBOTICS (ROBOCOM’25)

Co-located with IEEE CCNC 2025

Las Vegas, NV, USA

10–13 January 2025

The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and researchers from both academia and industry in order to have a forum for discussions and technical presentations on the broad area of robot swarms and wireless networks. The timeliness and relevance of the topics addressed by the workshop are implicitly demonstrated by the pervasive diffusion on the market of ground and aerial robots with sensing and autonomous mobility capabilities.

In order to fully unlock such potential, and also to foster the deployment of novel applications involving the large-scale use of mobile ground and aerial devices with the ability of swarm computing, some fundamental research issues must be addressed, such as networked mobility and communication control, energy efficiency in swarm networks, Quality of Service in the swarm and system security.

The workshop focuses both on application aspects, e.g. by identifying novel use-cases that might likely translate into new directions for research and investments from industries, and on methodological aspects, e.g. how to overcome networking and control issues tackling the practical implementation of autonomous vehicles and robot networks.

Due to the timeliness of the topics, we expect the workshop to be a possible ground of cross-fertilization between academia, industry, and standardization groups, and to provide an original contribution to the state-of-the-art of research. We also consider the workshop as a perfect arena for the participation of young PhDs and Researchers who will receive provocative ideas, visions, and guidelines on new potential directions of research on methodologies, techniques, algorithms, and multidisciplinary aspects.

This workshop invites original research articles and review articles that focus on communication networking problems in swarm robotics. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Angelo Trotta, University of Bologna, Italy
Gökhan Seçinti, Istanbul Technical University, Turkey
