Betreff: [TCCC-ANNOUNCE] Call for Papers IEEE NETWORK special issue on Networked Sensing Systems for a Sustainable Society

Call for Papers IEEE NETWORK special issue on Networked Sensing Systems for a Sustainable Society

Call for Papers

Networking can help provide a more sustainable society by providing previously unavailable solutions, allowing data from new and heterogeneous sources to be collected in novel ways and from novel sources through novel technologies. At the same time, the networking-based solution itself must be sustainable or green, for example, reducing unnecessary energy expenditure by redesigning the network architecture by de-locating network equipment towards strategic places.

With the "Networked sensing systems for a sustainable society" special issue, we aim to present and showcase the latest advances in sustainable networked sensing systems in a wide range of contexts with the shared scope to improve people's quality of life and reduce climate change. The goal of the special issue is to publish original research and review articles which should be comprehensive to all readers of the magazine, regardless of their specialty, addressing the key issues and challenges of this area.

Topics include, but are not limited to:
• Analysis, simulation, testbed, and measurement campaigns of networked sensing systems
• Converged communication, computing, and storage in sustainable networked sensing system
• Crowd-sensing, human-centric sensing, citizen science-based solutions
• Efficient resource allocation for networked sensing systems
• Energy efficiency, energy harvesting, and green operation for networking in sensing system
• Fog/edge computing and caching techniques for networked sensing system
• In situ techniques in environmental monitoring
• Lightweight network security design for networked sensing systems
• Low cost or energy harvesting wireless communication and system design
• Networked sensing systems for sustainable Industry 4.0
• Networking for smart and cooperative devices, environments, middleware, platforms, and tools
• Rural area sensing and connectivity solutions
• Smart sensory augmentation and smart spaces
• Sustainable networked sensing systems for digital twins
• Ultra-low-power IoT network technologies and embedded systems architectures
• Urban environmental sensing and monitoring
• Virtualization for networked sensing system
