In the last two decades, network technologies have evolved rapidly, and mobile data traffic has grown steeply. The Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI) predicts that global mobile data traffic will almost triple from 2020 to 2025, reaching 184 exabytes per month. This growth is fueled by factors such as the increasing number of mobile devices, availability of high-speed mobile networks, and adoption of data-intensive mobile applications. 5G networks are now widespread, providing higher data speeds and enhanced throughput. However, some challenges remain, such as improving quality of service for emerging applications, addressing mobile edge computing issues, and enabling interoperable interfaces. These challenges drive the need for research into the next generation of mobile Internet, 6G, which would tackle these issues while providing new mobile services and defining architectural components for the future.
MobiArch’23 will focus on the technical architecture issues for next generation mobile Internet, to tackle the aforementioned challenges. MobiArch’23 welcomes submissions from both researchers and practitioners from academia and industry that explore the latest developments in mobile communication technologies and architectures. In addition, we encourage work-in-progress and position papers that describe highly original ideas, present new directions, or have the potential to generate insightful provocative discussion at the workshop. Workshop papers will be included with the conference proceedings and posted in the ACM Digital Library.
