CALL FOR PAPERS
2005 IEEE Workshop on High Performance Switching and Routing (HPSR 2005)
May 12-14, 2005
Hong Kong, China
Technical co-sponsorship by the IEEE Communications Society
Phenomenal growth in Internet traffic has moved the Internet from a convenience to a mission-critical platform.
The advent of broadband access for end-users has raised expectations for IP performance and reliability.
As a result, there is a great demand for Gigabit/Terabit electronic/optical routers and switches.
These switches/routers must not only have an aggregate Gigabits/Terabits capacity, but should also be coupled
with forwarding rates of billions of packets per second, quality guarantees for differentiated services, a wide
variety of interface types, scalability in terms of capacity and port density, and backward compatibility with a
wide range of packet formats and routing protocols. The scope of the High Performance Switching and
Routing (HPSR) Workshop is focused on the technology of high-speed switches and routers, including
the architectural and algorithmic aspects of high-speed IP networks, possibly adopting optical technologies
and wireless user accesses. HPSR 2005 will include technical sessions for the presentation of novel research
results, panel sessions for the discussion of hot topics, and tutorials presented by leading international experts.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- High performance switch and router architectures:
Analysis and simulation,
Electronic and optical switching fabrics,
Field trials,
Impact of higher layer protocols and services,
Implementations,
Measurements,
Prototypes,
System development
- Routing Protocols
- IP over Optical Networks
- P2P Networks
- Performance Evaluation and Measurement
- Metering and Monitoring
- Sensor Networks
- High Speed Packet Processors
- Quality of Service
- Traffic Measurement
- Mobile and Ad-hoc Networking
- Wireless Networks
- Network Management and Operations
- WDM Switching and Routing
- Traffic, accounting, and charging
- Protection and Recovery
- MPLS and GMPLS
- Traffic Engineering and Control
