The Wireless Telecommunications Symposium=rings together industry professionals and academics from companies, gover=mental agencies, and universities around the world to exchange information=n advances in mobile communications and wireless networking technology, a pplications, management, and security. Past WTS participants have included =r. Irwin Jacobs, Chairman and Co-Founder of QUALCOMM; Mike Lazaridis, Foun=er, President, and Co-CEO, Research In Motion; Dr. Vinton Cerf and Dr. Leo=ard Kleinrock, Internet pioneers; and Dr. Charles Elachi, Director, NASA's=et Propulsion Laboratory. The theme for WTS 2011 will be "Global Wir=less Communications: A View from the Big Apple". Other planned highlights =f WTS 2011 include executive presentations and keynote addresses; presenta=ions of accepted academic and practitioner research papers; panel discussi ons; tutorials and workshops; a poster paper session; and a doctoral studen=s' session. Refereed= proceedings will be published by the IEEE and be available on its Xplor= online publication system. The proceedings also will be distributed a= the Symposium via a CD. Awards will be given for the most outstanding pap=r presented and best graduate and undergraduate student papers presented. =ome selected high quality papers from WTS 2011 will be considered for publ=cation in a special issue of the International Journal of Interdiscipli=ary Telecommunications & Networking , IGI Global publisher, pendin= their successful extension and an expedited review process.
