Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to submit your original work to the Special Session on "Wireless communication with UAVs" for the 26th European Wireless (EW) conference.
New conference dates: September 21-23rd, 2020
New submission deadline: June 6th, 2020

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-enabled solutions are becoming very popular. UAVs (or drones) are attractive owing to their flexibility and potential cost-efficiency in comparison with conventional aircraft. Drones are perceived as game changers and development enablers since they may be used to deploy and optimize the network to improve its coverage, build routes and fix network partition to ensure the best communication performance, reduce energy consumption, and dynamically respond to detected network problems. The benefits are limited only by imagination.
This special session welcomes contributions dealing with all facets of wireless communication with drones, including channel modeling, integration into cellular networks (4G, 5G, and b5G), system aspects, theoretical studies, algorithm and protocol design, as well as requirements, constraints, and regulations. We are particularly looking for papers reporting on experimental results of deployed systems, summaries of challenges or advancements, measurements, and innovative applications. The primary focus of this session will be on civilian applications of drones.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- UAV integration in Cellular and Vehicular Networks - Path/trajectory planning - Radio resource management for UAV communications - Interference management, localization and positioning for UAVs - Backhaul for aerial BS (UAVs) - Visible Light Communication with UAVs - Channel modeling and propagation (Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground) - 5G and b5G, mmWave and Massive MIMO for drones - UAVs for IoT applications - MEC schemes for UAV-enabled networks - Testbeds, demonstrations, field trials, and prototyping - Machine learning for UAV communications - Economical frameworks for UAV communications (e.g., cost studies, business models) - Regulatory schemes for UAV communications (e.g., safety operation, privacy protection)
We invite submission of original work not previously published or under review at another conference or journal. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit a 6-page IEEE conference style paper (including all text, figures, and references) through EDAS submission system. Papers exceeding the maximum length of six pages will be subject to an over-length charge of 100 euro per additional page (a maximum of two pages can be added). All papers selected for publication will be published together with European Wireless 2020 proceedings and available on IEEE Xplore database (approval pending) and will be indexed in the abstract and citation database Scopus (approval pending).
