Special Session on Service-Oriented Wireless Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks
Wireless ad hoc and sensor networks are expected to play an important role in the future wireless generation due to their flexibility, adaptability, and self-organization features. The recent significant advances in almost all research areas related to these networks have enabled a wide spectrum of applications, including collaborative computing, disaster recovery, inter-vehicle communications, mobile access to Internet, surveillance and monitoring, intelligent agriculture, habitat monitoring, automation and control, intelligent home, etc.
Service-oriented computing is gaining popularity in today's business environments by providing flexibility to seamlessly compose multiple distributed service components into different applications, processes, and more complex services. Though service-oriented computing has been well studied in wired networks, it remains a nascent area of research in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. The frequent mobility, the limited computation/storage capability, and battery power in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks require more innovative service composition, advertisement, discovery, and invocation mechanisms to migrate service-oriented computing to wireless ad hoc and sensor networks.
The aim of this special session is to foster interactions among researchers from industry and academia on all aspects of service-oriented wireless ad hoc and sensor networks.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
Service-oriented advertisement model Service-oriented query model Service-oriented data processing, storage, and management schemes Service-driven routing protocols Service composition mechanisms Service discovery protocols Service-oriented mobility and data management Service-oriented cross layer approaches Detection, classification, estimation, and tracking schemes Efficient deployment and localization schemes Energy-efficient network architectures Energy and time efficient data delivery and data fusion schemes Fault-tolerance and security issues Modeling and simulation Software platforms and middleware design Tools and techniques for design, deployment, evaluation, and testing Multimedia and novel applications and services Data mining and warehousing Submission Instructions
Authors are invited to submit regular technical papers or position papers. The position papers should present novel technologies at an early stage of development or share future vision. All submissions should describe original, previously unpublished research, not currently under review by another conference or journal. Manuscripts should not exceed five (5) pages in double-column IEEE format. Please submit the paper through EDAS. Formatting details can be found under Author Information on the CCNC web site.
