[Tccc] IEEE AERIAL & SPACE PLATFORMS WORKSHOP (in conjunction with IEEE GLOBECOM'08)
[Our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this message]
=============== CALL FOR PAPERS ===============
We would like to invite you to submit a paper to the Workshop "Aerial & Space Platforms: Research, Applications, Vision" co-located with the IEEE Globecom 2008 conference, on Thursday, 4 December 2008.
IEEE Globecom 2008 conference is the Premier Telecommunications Event for Industry Professionals and Academics from Companies, Governmental Agencies, and Universities around the World and will take place in New Orleans, LA, USA, from 30 November - 4 December 2008.
The Aerial & Space Platforms (ASP) workshop is a unique event in order to discuss open issues on platforms soaring above the earth, termed High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) or Stratospheric platforms or High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Platforms. The scope of this workshop is to act as a catalyst for a thorough overview of existing applications by providing a forum for leading actors from academia, industry and government worldwide to illustrate the potential of HALE, MAE UAVs (Medium Altitude Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), etc. In parallel, the workshop aims at identifying the key issues to be addressed by future research in this field (wireless, optical communications, navigation possibilities, various applications) and forge new links among leading experts.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
* Hybrid space architectures * Design, manufacturing and testing of stratospheric vehicles * Standardization issues * Multicast/Broadcast protocols for HAPs or Hybrid systems (satellite-HAPs) * Advances in backhaul optical links * Case studies and trials (surveillance, remote sensing, navigation and positioning services, etc) * Coexistence with other systems (WiMAX, HSDPA etc) * Antenna technology (steering solutions, beamforming techniques) * Radio resource management (admission control, MAC protocols) * MIMO technology and diversity techniques
Submitted papers must describe new research works that are not currently under review nor have been previously published. Paper length should not exceed five-pages. Please, for more information, refer to the Author Guidelines page in the ASP Workshop site: http://newton.ee.auth.gr/aerial_space/
The proceedings of the ASP workshop will be published in electronic format on IEEE Xplore.
Important Dates: Submission deadline for regular papers: August 15, 2008 Notification of acceptance: September 15, 2008 Camera ready papers due: October 10, 2008
