The European Wireless (EW) conference is a key venue for European researchers to get in touch with the latest trends in wireless communications and networking. The 23rd EW conference (EW2017) will take place from May 17 to May 19 in Dresden, Germany, organized by 5G Lab Germany at Dresden University of Technology. The main topic of EW2017 will be "The Way Towards Holistic 5G". The EW conference is committed to high publication ethics standards through a rigorous single-blind peer-review process. Submitted manuscripts must be original and not published or under consideration elsewhere. They must not infringe any copyright or third party right. Proceedings of EW 2017 will be available on IEEEXplore and Scopus (approval pending). Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit a journal extended version for a special issue of Wiley Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies.

Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended journal versions of their papers for consideration for publication in a Special Issue in Infocommunications Journal.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The EW2017 is aimed at addressing a key theme on “The Way Towards Holistic 5G”. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

Communications --------------------------- * Fundamental limits, information theory for wireless * Modulation and coding: MIMO systems, space-time coding, joint source/channel coding, * Multiple access: multiuser detection, spectrum sensing and parameter estimation * Interference mitigation and management, localization and positioning, error protection * Near-field, ultra-wideband, mm-wave, wired-wireless integration * Implementation and testbed: antenna and RF modeling and design, issues in practical and experimental systems * Energy: green communications, energy harvesting devices * Localization and positioning, optimization and game theory, tools for M&A * New disruptive concepts for wireless systems

Networking --------------------------- * Vehicular and disruption-tolerant, heterogeneous, wireless ad-hoc, mesh networks * Protocols and architectures, QoS and resource allocation, topology control, self-organizing networks * Implementation: low-cost radio, scalable, sustainable, low-complexity systems * Application: Mobile apps and platforms, emerging applications in wireless networks * Reliability, privacy and security in wireless networks

Thematic Wireless for EW2017: The Way Towards Holistic 5G --------------------------- * Regional visions, requirements and development of 5G (Europe, Asia and America) * Industry views of 5G: SME, manufacturers, operators and service providers, business developing for different markets * Enabling technologies and novel concepts: SDN/NFV, network coding, compressed sensing, software defined wireless networks, mobile edge computing, distributed caching * Applications and services: development, implementation and validation, cloud computing, 5G testbeds, migration, integration, and convergence * M2M communications and the Internet of Things
