** Call for Papers
The biennial Conference on Networked Systems (NetSys) provides an international forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry, and government to present and discuss recent innovations in networked and distributed systems.
In 2025, NetSys is again organized by GI/ITG KuVS, the Communication and Distributed Systems Group of GI SYS and VDE ITG. The technical program focuses on hot topics and current developments in the areas of networking and distributed systems.
NetSys 2025 invites the submission of:
* Extended Abstract Papers: original and unpublished work (including position paper format), and extensions of already published work * Hot Topic Papers: summaries of already published work * Demos: proposals for interesting technical showcases
The main focus of the conference is on professional networking and discussing recent work. Accepted extended abstract papers and hot topic papers will be presented during the conference and will be made available on the conference website (copyright remains with authors, no proceedings).
Extended abstract papers shall describe ongoing work (including position paper format) and recent results with the aim to get first feedback from the networking research community. Preliminary results are welcome. Accepted extended abstract will be presented in interactive and stimulating poster sessions.
Hot topic papers shall highlight recent and highly significant results in networked and distributed systems that are of high interest for the NetSys community. New research approaches, findings, and methods are welcome that appeared (or are to appear) in top journals (such as TON or CCR) or top conferences in the field (such as SIGCOMM, IMC, MobiCom, CoNEXT, INFOCOM, ICDCS). Accepted hot topics papers shall be presented in the format of thought-provocative impulse talks focused on innovation and novel approaches.
Contributions may include - but are not limited to - the following topics:
* Network architectures and protocols * Transport- and application-layer protocols * Software-defined networking, network softwarization, and NFV * Middleware architectures, platforms, and programming support for networked systems * Cloud computing, mobile cloud computing, fog and edge computing * Network security and privacy * Concepts for tactile and low-latency communication * Information-centric networking, content distribution and retrieval, incl. co-existence with classical networks * SoA, web services, and mobile services * Consistency, reliability, availability in networking and distributed systems * Methods for design, implementation and analysis of networked systems * Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning in networking * Explainable AI (XAI) methods for networks and networked systems * Green and energy-efficient networks and networked systems * Mobile, ad-hoc, opportunistic, and vehicular networks * Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor networks * Cyber-physical networked systems * Non-terrestrial networks: satellite networks, 3D networking support, space networks * Emerging technologies for next generation mobile networks (6G) * Advancements in social networks, social computing, data-intensive computing (big data) * Distributed ledger systems and applications * Emerging and future networked applications and distributed systems
** Important Dates

* Registration & submission: Friday, July 4th, 2025 * Notification of acceptance: Friday, July 18th, 2025
** Submission Guidelines for Extended Abstract Papers
All extended abstract paper submissions must be original, unpublished, and not considered elsewhere for publication. Extended abstract papers are limited to 4 pages including references, figures, and tables (11pt font, one-column format) and must use the IEEE conference LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates. Contributions should be submitted electronically in PDF format via the conference submission system (https://netsys25.prakinf.tu-ilmenau.de/).
Extended abstract papers will undergo a thorough process of peer reviews by at least two peers. Submission implies that at least one author will register and attend the conference to present the extended abstract paper.
** Submission Guidelines for Hot Topic Papers
We expect submissions of papers already published or accepted at top-tier venues. The full paper should be submitted electronically in PDF format via the conference submission system (https://netsys25.prakinf.tu-ilmenau.de/). The PDF must contain the full citation of the paper.
Hot topic papers will be assessed by at least two peers. Submission implies that at least one author will register and attend the conference to present the hot topic paper.
** Submission Guidelines for Demo Track
Contributions for the demo session are expected to show work-in-progress of technical interest in an informal setting. We explicitly encourage submissions from students and industry. Demo proposals must include a short pitch of the presented setup for review (2-4 pages, 11pt font, one-column IEEE format). Although the topics of interest are identical to the main conference, accepted papers do not directly qualify for the demo track. Contributions should be submitted electronically in PDF format via the conference submission system (https://netsys25.prakinf.tu-ilmenau.de/).
