================================================================= International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing 2008 Special Session on "Next Generation Wireless Multimedia" Santorini, Greece 7-9 May 2008
The Symposium is technically co-Sponsored by IEEE Circuits and Systems Society IEEE Signal Processing Society IEEE Communications Society
************** Call for Papers ************** Special Session on Next Generation Wireless Multimedia
Continuous advances in wireless access technologies, video/audio compression, and computing hardware are currently enabling efficient multimedia communications over wireless networks. However, there are a lot of technical challenges that need to be addressed in order to allow ubiquitous access to real time and high-quality multimedia applications over such networks. New models, metrics and methodologies both in multimedia signal processing and communication protocols are needed in order to maximize user-perceived quality, meet device and network constraints, and maximize resource utilization.
This special session will provide a forum for experts working in the field to discuss various important issues concerning next generation multimedia communications over wireless networks. The session is organized as part of ISWPC 2008, and aims at bringing together researchers to share their latest results and ideas on the subject. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Modeling, measurement, and performance studies for multimedia streaming in WLANs and WPANs - Multimedia streaming applications and protocols for sensor networks - Multimedia over peer-to-peer wireless networks - Distributed resource allocation and management for multimedia in wireless networks - Live streaming, video on demand, and video conferencing in wireless networks - Network and transport protocols for streaming in wireless ad-hoc/mesh networks - Management, QoS, and security aspects in multimedia streaming over wireless - QoS-aware media access techniques and protocols
Submission ----------- Authors are invited to submit original papers through the regular conference process (http://www.iswpc.org/2008/), and send their paper to one of the session organizers to indicate submission for the special session. All accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings.
