IEEE SECON 2021 Call for Demos
The IEEE SECON 2021 demo session solicits the submission of research, platform, and product demonstrations and exhibits, from both academia and industry, that falls at the intersection of traditional sensing/networking and new disciplinary areas including (but not limited to) machine intelligence, data analytics, edge computing, social networks, rural connectivity, electromagnetic fields, to name a few.
The demo session offers a great opportunity to showcase innovative research or product prototypes, systems, software and hardware platforms, and novel applications.
We also welcome live demos reproducing results of papers presented at IEEE SECON, as well as other relevant venues.
Contributions of interest include, but are not limited to, the following demonstrations:
Novel applications and techniques, algorithms, protocols Work-in-progress in research, prototyping, and real-world deployments Novel hardware and tools Real-world deployments New research prototypes Testbeds and living labs Platforms for research and real-world deployments Public-private and industrial-academic collaboration initiatives Pilots and proof-of-concept demonstrations from public-private projects
Since the conference will be held virtually, video recordings, as well as live streams, will be welcome. Authors of accepted demos will be allocated a time slot to reproduce a video or perform a demo in a live stream, in addition to extra time for discussion with the conference attendees.
A Best Demo Award will be given to a high-impact demo selected by a committee, taking into account inputs from conference participants.
The abstract of accepted demos will appear in the conference proceeding. Each accepted demo requires at least a one-day registration. For authors co-authoring multiple demos, a one-day registration is valid for up to two demos.
Submission Guidelines
Demo submissions will be evaluated mainly based on their potential to stimulate discussions, promote collaborations, and disseminate results of broad community interest. The demo abstract should follow the standard two-column IEEE conference format, including the names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors. The demo abstract should have no more than 2 pages in length and have a minimum font size of 10 points.
Demo abstracts must be submitted electronically through EasyChair, using the following link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=secon2021
Important Dates
Submission deadline: May 13th, 2021 Notification of acceptance: June 3rd, 2021 Camera-ready: June 10th, 2021

IEEE SECON 2021 - PhD Workshop
SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
The IEEE SECON PhD Workshop provides an opportunity to PhD students for presenting their ongoing work in the areas of wireless and mobile communication networks. The workshop offers an opportunity to share experiences with other PhD students and meet with accomplished international researchers and obtain feedback from them. The IEEE SECON PhD Workshop encourages interaction among PhD students and helps them to obtain feedback from senior researchers from academia, industry, and government.
The topics of interest are the same as for the main conference, and can be found at this link.
FORMAT
The IEEE SECON PhD Workshop will be organized as a poster session and will include a short introduction by each student (“one-minute madness”). In preparation for the poster session, the students will be invited to join a closed-door training session, where they will receive feedback on their presentations and their Ph.D. thesis statements from senior members of the IEEE SECON community. Accepted extended abstracts of presented posters will appear in the conference proceedings. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure quality and relevance to the scope of IEEE SECON 2021. Current PhD students are encouraged to submit extended abstracts. Best PhD Poster Awards will be given, taking into account inputs from mentors and conference participants.
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission deadline: May 13th, 2021 Notification of acceptance: June 3rd, 2021 Camera-ready: June 10th, 2021
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submissions must be in PDF format, written in English, adhere to the IEEE SECON formatting guidelines, and contain no more than 2 pages including figures, tables, and references. Submissions must include the student’s name, affiliation, and email address on the first page. The student should be the sole author, but the contribution of their advisors should be acknowledged in the paper.
The paper should clearly identify the research problem addressed, the expected contributions to the state of the art, the research methodology, the preliminary results (if any), and the plan ahead. The PhD Workshop is primarily intended for presenting ongoing, rather than complete, work and Ph.D. thesis statements.
Papers must be submitted electronically through EasyChair, using the following link:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=secon2021
Accepted extended abstracts will appear in conference proceedings.
PARTICIPATION
PhD student authors of accepted submissions are expected to attend the PhD Workshop training session, present their posters/one-minute madness pitch, and attend IEEE SECON 2021.
