About IEEE CCNC '13 IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, sponsored by IEEE Communications Society, is a major annual international conference organized with the objective of bringing together researchers, developers, and practitioners from academia and industry working in all areas of consumer communications and networking. IEEE CCNC was organized specifically to help the consumer electronics industry drive the advance of the numerous wireless and wireline communications technologies that will one day provide on-demand access to both entertainment and information anytime, anywhere, regardless of time or location. This includes a detailed analysis of nearly every technological area ranging from cognitive and peer-to-peer networking to the designer services and tools used to ensure ease-of-use, security and stunning interactivity.

Overview (IoTCoMM) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Wireless Sensor Network (WSNs) are considered to be the main elements of pervasive computing and have gathered the interest of the research community in the past few years. Such technologies empower computers to perceive the world for themselves leading the way to the new Internet of Things (IoT). This interlinking of physical world and cyberspace foreshadows an exciting endeavor that is highly attractive to researchers, corporations, and individuals. IoT promises to create a global network of physical objects every bit as pervasive and ubiquitous as the worldwide web itself. Some are already describing it as either the ultimate convenience or the ultimate disaster revolving around our daily privacy. What does this mean to those of us who will be encountering IoT? How would IoT transform our lives? And what are the design and deployment challenges associated with such a network?

Topics The workshop solicits papers and demos relating to the following topics: IoT Hardware Design -- Hardware aspects of RFID, WSN & WMSN sensor design -- Sensor Actuation & Coordination -- CMOS Camera Design, Integration of Smart Cameras & Others

IoT Protocol Design -- Energy-aware communication protocols / Cross-layer optimization / Congestion Control & Reliability -- Collaborative signal processing / Quality-of-Service -- MAC & Transport Protocols / Routing Protocols & Energy Efficiency / Simulation tools, OSs and middleware

IoT Applications -- Smart Housing & Smart Retail -- Vehicular Traffic Congestion Management -- Healthcare /Petroleum / Supply Chain -- Other novel applications

Submissions must present original results. Selected papers will be forward-looking, describe their relationship to existing work, and have impact and implications for ongoing or future research.

AUTHOR INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES Accepted workshop papers will be published in the IEEE CCNC proceedings. Manuscripts should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column) and not exceed 5 pages in length. Submission of papers should be regarded as a commitment such that, if accepted, at least one author of the paper will register and attend the conference; otherwise it will be removed from the IEEE Digital Library after the conference. Papers should be submitted in a .pdf or .ps format via EDAS paper submission website and then selecting the workshop submission link. A separate cover sheet should show the title of the paper, the author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s), and the address (including e-mail, telephone, and fax) to which the correspondence should be sent.
