* ACM MobiCom 2010 Call for Posters and SRC*
Important Dates:
Submissions Due: *July 16*, 2010 (11:59 pm EDT)
Notification of acceptance: August 2, 2010
ACM MobiCom 2010 solicits submissions for the Poster Session to be held
during the conference. Proposals for poster presentations featuring early
research work and preliminary results are strongly encouraged and
solicited. The MobiCom 2010 Poster Session will provide an excellent
opportunity for initial feedback on early research results. Posters are
solicited in all areas of mobile computing and mobile and wireless
networking at the link layer and above.
Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the
following:
·Design, implementation, and evaluation of mobile systems and
applications
·Operating system and middleware support for mobile computing and
networking
·Fundamental understanding of mobile computing and wireless networking
·Architectures, protocols, and algorithms to cope with mobility, limited
bandwidth, limited power and/or intermittent connectivity
·Wireless and mobile techniques for delay-tolerant, mobile ad hoc, and
wireless sensor networks
·Security, privacy, and trustworthiness of mobile and wireless systems
·Wireless access technologies (e.g. mesh systems, personal area networks)
·Integration and interworking of wired and wireless networks
·Protocols exploiting novel technologies such as UWB, MIMO, directional
antennas, and software radios
·Techniques for dynamic spectrum use
·Architectures, algorithms and protocols for cognitive wireless networks
and their integration in the Internet
·Modeling, simulation, emulation and measurement of mobile systems
·Experimental test-beds for mobile/wireless networks
·Performance evaluation of mobile and wireless networks, protocols, and
systems
·Next generation (beyond 802.11) wireless technologies and related
systems and protocols
·Coexistence of heterogeneous wireless networks
ACM Student Research Competition:
ACM MobiCom 2010 will host an ACM Student Research Competition (SRC).
Students submitting to the MobiCom 2010 Poster Session can opt to have
their posters considered also by the SRC committee. Selected competitors
will receive up to $500 USD for their conference travel, depending on
need, and will earn a chance to compete in the SRC Grand Finals. The
winners will be recognized at the Annual ACM Awards Banquet. Competitors
should be prepared to attend the poster session and, if selected for
further competition, give a short talk about their research projects.
Winners of the MobiCom 2010 SRC will be announced at the conference. The
Student Research Competition is open to graduate and undergraduate
students whose submissions are accepted by the SRC committee. To be
considered, complete a submission to the Poster Session and indicate that
you would like to participate in the SRC by adding “[SRC]” in the subject
line. Current ACM student membership and student status as of the
submission deadline are required for the lead student.
Submission Instructions:
The posters should be submitted to mobicom10.poster@gmail.com. The
submission should be formatted as a paper or extended abstract describing
the research to be presented in your poster and should submitted as a PDF
file of at most THREE pages, including all figures and references
(formatted into the US letter size of 8.5 × 11 inches with fonts no
smaller than 10 point size). The extended abstract must include the names
of the authors, affiliations and email addresses.
The submission should include the following:
·In the submission you would need to indicate you want the submission to
be considered for the Student Research Competition by adding “[SRC]” in
the subject line.
·If you would like your submission to be considered for the SRC, you
would need to indicate any of the student authors is an undergraduate
student. Note that if any of the authors is a graduate student, then the
submission will be considered under the graduate category.
All poster submissions will be reviewed by a committee. If your
submission is selected for the poster session, you will receive
information regarding the size of the poster board, etc., so that you can
prepare a poster for the poster session. If your submission is selected
for the Student Research Competition (SRC), then during the poster
session, the committee will also evaluate your poster with the additional
criteria of oral and visual clarity. Subsequently, the SRC committee will
select up to three finalists from the graduate and the undergraduate
categories. The finalists will be announced soon after the poster session
completes. All finalists will be invited to deliver a formal presentation
of their submitted work at the conference. Based on these presentations,
the SRC committee will rank the finalists.
A selected subset of the accepted posters will be published in the
extended abstract format in a future MC2R issue.
Please note that if your poster is selected for the Student Research
Competition (SRC), you will need to attend the conference, and if you are
chosen as a finalist, you will also be required to make a presentation at
the conference. Current ACM student membership and student status as of
the submission deadline are required for the lead student for SRC
submissions.
Also note that,
* Registration for MobiCom/MobiHoc is now open!
* Deadline for obtaining the special rate at the conference
hotel (Drake Hotel) is August 21, 2010. Please book your
room early.
