MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKS Call for Papers
Very fast, ultra-reliable and ubiquitous mobile communications have kick-started profound changes in our personal and professional lives; and on the ways we learn, travel, work and entertain. The *Mobile Communications and Networks* Series publishes cutting edge, in-depth articles describing the scientific and technological breakthroughs enabling these changes.
The scope of this Series Topic (ST) covers mobile devices and the networks that provide connectivity to them, and all related applications. This includes communication protocols, algorithms, procedures, systems or network architectures. Performance evaluation and testing of mobile and networks nodes are also within this scope. The Series emphasizes novel but practical solutions and seeks to cover emerging topics of interest to industry, academia and governments.
Articles must be written in clear and concise language and should be readable by a broad readership ranging from design engineers, engineering managers to industrial/academic researchers, students, and other members of our community. A rigorous peer-review process ensures that only the highest-quality articles that fully adhere to the *IEEE Communications Magazine* submission and publication guidelines will be accepted. The Series’ frequent appearances ensure quick publication of papers in a dedicated section within the Magazine.
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts in all subjects within the scope of this Series including, but not limited to, the following:
*Mobile Wireless Systems and **Architectures*
- Mobile cellular systems and networks of 5G and future generations - IEEE 802.11 WLAN (Wi-Fi®), Bluetooth, WWAN standards and technologies - Mobile ad-hoc networks and protocols. - Dynamic spectrum access networks and sharing, cognitive radios. - Mobile devices and terminals - Satellite communication systems and networks - Integrated aerial/satellite-terrestrial networks - Communications at millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies and beyond, intelligent reflecting surfaces - Full duplex communications – hardware architectures, interference cancellation, medium access control and networking protocols - Architectural aspects of air interfaces – framing, duplexing, synchronization, beam-forming, multi-point transmission - Orthogonal and non-orthogonal multiple access - Front-hauling and back-hauling - Carrier aggregation, multi-cell and multi-Radio Access Technology (RAT) connectivity - Air interfaces and infrastructure for networks of resource-constrained and autonomous wireless devices – applications, protocols, operation and performance - Spatial location and radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies - Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) - GPS, Galileo, Glonass, BDS - High-mobility communications - Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), fog computing
*Mobile Networking Procedures and Algorithms*
- Signal processing and coding techniques for mobile applications (e.g. speech/video coding, haptic codecs, coding for augmented/virtual reality applications) - Wireless networking protocols, including encryption and error protection - Multi-antenna transmission: MIMO, massive MIMO – precoding, beam-forming, beam acquisition and tracking - Network slicing & orchestration - Channel estimation - Radio resource management - Mobility procedures - Security aspects of mobile networks
*Performance Evaluation, Testing and **Measurements*
- Mobile communication channels characterization and modeling - Test and measurement of wireless systems and air interfaces - Mobile link/system/network test-beds and demonstrators, field trials - Simulation and modeling of mobile networks – applications, protocols, handoffs
Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts must be submitted through the magazine’s submissions website, Manuscript Central http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/commag-ieee. You will need to register and then proceed to the author center. On the manuscript details page, please select *Mobile Communications and Networks Series* from the drop-down menu. Manuscripts should be tutorial in nature, and should be written in a style comprehensible and accessible to readers outside the specialty of the article. Mathematical equations should not be used. For detailed submission guidelines please refer to the magazine website for the list of Paper Submission Guidelines https://www.comsoc.org/publications/magazines/ieee-communications-magazine/author-guidelines/manuscript-submission that must be followed by all submissions to *IEEE Communications Magazine*.
Papers can be submitted any time during the year. All papers go through a rigorous peer review process.
