We apology for possible cross posting, and thank you for distributing this CFP (Call for Papers).
The Second IEEE INFOCOM Workshop on Smart Cities and Urban Computing (http://pdcc.ntu.edu.sg/wands/smartcity/) in conjunction with IEEE INFOCOM 2016 (http://infocom2016.ieee-infocom.org/) (San Francisco, USA | 11 April, 2016)
Scope of workshop:
Urban computing is the communication and computation process to understand and coordinate the environment, systems, people and things in the city. Smart city infrastructures and systems as well as intelligent urban computing will help the city administrators better understand and react to the metropolitan needs and challenges, and will improve the operation of urban infrastructural systems. Information and communication systems will play a critical role in building smart cities and supporting comprehensive urban computing. There is a growing importance of ICT, social and environmental capital in profiling the competitiveness of cities .
The main purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers from both academia and industry in the field of systems, networking and communication to discuss major challenges, research problems, and potential applications to support smart cities and urban computing. It will provide an opportunity to share new findings, exchange ideas, discuss research challenges and report latest research efforts that cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to
* Application, deployment, testbed, and experiment experiences in smart cities * Network and system infrastructures that support smart cities * Sensing and Internet-of-Things (IoT) for smart cities and urban computing * Big data analytics for urban computing * Urban cyber physical systems * Delay tolerant networks and systems for urban data collection * E-health systems * Environment and urban monitoring * Enabling wireless and mobile technologies for smart cities * Fault tolerance, reliability and survivability in smart systems * Green systems and energy efficiency * Human behavior analysis and interaction with the urban systems * Mobile crowdsourcing for urban analytics * QoS and QoE of smart city systems, applications, and services * Social computing and networks * Smart grid * Smart transportation * Smart buildings * Safety, security, and privacy for smart cities * Smartphone and mobile systems and applications * Vehicular networks
Publication Opportunity in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics
Selected high-quality papers may be invited to be fast-tracked for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics - Special Issue on “Internet-of-Things for Smart Cities and Urban Computing.”
Submission Instruction
We call for original and unpublished/unsubmitted papers no longer than 6 pages. The manuscripts should be formatted in standard IEEE camera-ready format (double-column, 10-pt font) and be submitted as PDF files (formatted for 8.5x11-inch paper). The review process will be single blind (i.e., the authors’ identities will be known to the reviewers).
