Dear Colleagues,
Two conference deadlines are fast approaching:
The deadline for VTC2012-Fall in Quebec City is earlier than usual this year, and is only two weeks away on 19 January 2012. Download the call for papers at http://www.ieeevtc.org/vtc2012fall/cfp.php http://www.mmsend2.com/link.cfm?r=661445230&sid=17073304&m=1701184&u=IEEE_VTS&j=8505154&s=http://www.ieeevtc.org/vtc2012fall/cfp.php
A final reminder for the 3rd Green Wireless Communications and Networks Workshop (GreeNet), co-located with IEEE VTC2012-Spring in Yokohama, Japan, 6-9 May 2012. Submit papers by 9th January 2012 to http://vtc2012workshops.trackchair.com/track/983 http://www.mmsend2.com/link.cfm?r=661445230&sid=17073305&m=1701184&u=IEEE_VTS&j=8505154&s=http://vtc2012workshops.trackchair.com/track/983

*3rd Green Wireless Communications and Networks Workshop (GreeNet)* Broadband wireless mobile communications data traffic is rapidly growing to provide data services for devices such as tablets, smartphones and laptops. However, for many operators, growth in traffic is not match by the same growth in revenue. There is an increasing awareness of the environmental impact of both wireless networks and the Internet in general. Many operators have thus made commitments to reduce the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with their networks.
The objective of this workshop is to build on the success of the first two Greenet workshops to discuss these issues in detail. One major area where advances may be made is in moving towards more energy efficient network deployments which employ a mix of network components, such as macro-cell base stations, relays, picocells and femtocells to provide coverage and support high traffic demands. A second important avenue of research relates to new technologies and algorithms that can be deployed within the radio of each device to reduce energy consumption. This workshop particularly encourages contributions with blue sky thinking on how future technologies can be substantially more energy efficient than current systems.
We invite five page paper submissions not previously published and are not currently under review for publication from researchers and practitioners active in the field of Green Wireless Communications and Networks covering (but not limited to) the following topics:
1. Energy Efficient Network design - Efficient network architectures - Heterogeneous networks - Network traffic engineering and QoS support - Network operation and management
2. Enabling technologies - Physical layer techniques - MAC protocols - Cross-layer optimization - Cognitive networks
3. Network components and devices - Low power devices - User terminal designs - Base station hardware architectures - Power management for user terminals and network devices
4. Applications and services of wireless technologies - Wireless smart grid and energy management concepts - Wireless networking for home working/smart office - Machine-to-machine communications - Regulatory issues - New topics for standardisation
