Call for Papers Special Issue of IEEE IT Professional Magazine on Managing Networks and Systems Tools and Strategies

IT Professional Magazine, a peer-reviewed bi-monthly publication of the IEEE Computer Society, is seeking original manuscripts for a special issue on tools and strategies for managing networks and systems. Papers describing current research and practice are solicited. Survey, tutorial, industry experience, and case study papers are all welcomed. Network and systems management encompasses a broad range of topics include performance, reliability, and security. What are the current tools and strategies used to manage complex and large IT operations? What are the best practices and what return on investment can be achieved? It is these questions that this special issue will address. Article submissions are invited in areas including, but not limited to:
* Performance modeling, monitoring, and tuning * Reliability modeling * Intrusion detection, prevention, and recovery * Disaster preparation and recovery * Patch management * Power management * Managing VoIP applications * Managing mobility and mobile devices * Managing server farms * Managing call centers * User interfaces and virtual reality in management * AI techniques in management * Methods for remote systems management * New tools for system and network management * Future trends in network management * Future trends in systems management
Submitted articles must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts for this issue should not exceed 3500 words (with each average-size figure counting as 300 words toward this limit), including references and short biographies. Acceptable file formats include Microsoft Word, ASCII plain text, PDF, and Postscript. Refer also to the author guidelines at http://www.computer.org/itpro/author.htm.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2006 is the submission deadline for consideration for the November-December 2006 issue. Late submissions, if accepted, may run in future issues. Include all figures and tables, as well as a cover page with author contact information (name, address, phone, and e-mail address). Accepted articles may be edited for structure, style, clarity, and readability. To submit a manuscript:
