STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS for SOSP '05
The ACM Symposium on Operating Systems, to be held on October 23-26 in Brighton, UK, will be offering a limited number of scholarships to enable students to attend the conference.
Each scholarship covers the SOSP conference registration, including meals and proceedings, and a shared hotel room during the conference. Additional funding may be awarded toward the cost of travel. Scholarships will be awarded by the scholarship committee based on a combination of need and merit. Students receiving scholarships must agree to serve as a session scribe (if required) during the conference. Applicants are encouraged to participate in the poster session and work-in-progress presentations.
Funding is available to all students at educational institutions, world-wide. Members of groups historically under-represented at SOSP are especially encouraged to apply. Although most applicants in past years have been graduate students, undergraduates who are actively involved in systems research projects are welcome to apply.
Applications are due on August 30, 2005. Information on how to apply can be found by following the link off of the SOSP web page, available at the following URL: http://www.sosp-20.com/scholarships.htm
Please forward this announcement to any student interested in attending the conference.

About SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE
The SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE mailing list is intended to provide a low-volume channel that provides operating systems researchers and practitioners with information about upcoming events or other important announcements. In general, a message containing a group of such announcements will be sent about once per month with the subject line "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE monthly posting". On rare occasions, announcements of particular interest or urgency will be sent out with a different subject line, starting with "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE supplemental posting" (for readers who wish to use mail filtering programs). Finally, this mailing list is made available for use by publicity chairs of SIGOPS-sponsored conferences and the SIGOPS officers.
