Hi all,

I configured IBR-DTN to use persistent storage bundles (storage_path=<bundle storage location> and storage=default in ibrdtnd.conf). When I use dtninbox/dtnoutbox for file transfer, I see that bundle files in the bundle storage location (files whose names start with “8286”) always seem to have a few extra kilobytes stored. By opening the file, I see that maybe the entire header for the bundle is stored inside the file, but there are a few kilobytes of characters after the payload, irrespective of the size of the payload. The size of these extra bytes varies from 4KB to 10KB. Could anyone explain what these bytes are for ? This may be particularly relevant while considering persistent storage requirements of constrained systems, when file size is also small. The situation is the same for both UDP and TCP convergence layers.

Thanks and regards,

Vijayasarathy
