Changing
net_lan0_type = udp
to:
net_lan0_type = dgram:udp
does the trick! (i.e. dtnping and dtnsend work).
Nevertheless i can see that datagrams, just as you said, uses IPv6 addressing. Is there a possibility to somehow use IPv4 ?

AFAIK should dgram:udp used instead of udp. But to get discovery
working, IPv6 might be needed, IIRC.
Are you launching dtnd with the option -v? This one is needed to see if
neighbors are discovered.
