Re: [ibr-dtn] PLEASE HELP> ERROR ApiServer: Cannot bind to socket with address [::1]:4550
Hello Mehrdad,
please reply to the list, so that the discussion can be found by others also.
Depending on the type of installation it may not be enough to kill the service. Systemd recognizes it and restarts the service on its own. Please make sure that dtnd is not running after all (ps aux | grep dtnd).
We have successfully run IBR-DTN in several different VM types in the past. Passing through a physical network interface was never a problem.

Hello, Yes I have installed it from repo, I also tried to kill the deamon and rerun deamon but still the same error happens. Do you have any previous experience if running linux on vm and using external wifi adapters cause this type of problems? I will try the options that you provided today.

Hello Mehrdad,
how did you install IBR-DTN? If IBR-DTN was installed from the repositories, the daemon will start automatically. In this case a dtnd is already running on port 4550, so a second, manually started, dtnd cannot bind to it. You could check this by trying to connect to this port via telnet (or by looking at the output of "netstat -tulpen").
Otherwise you could enable the debug output of dtnd (start with -d 90) to get more information.

While trying to use deamon. The error I get is: ERROR ApiServer: Cannot bind to socket with address [::1]:4550
I tried: 1-disabled ipv6 then (ipv4 port listener also gone) 2-change dtndconf bind interface to : 127.0.0.1 3- almost checked all mailing list and FAQ of IBR-DTN.
still nothing... please help me
