Thema:

Soft Models, Batik and Tiles

Zusammenfassung:

In this talk I will describe some of the interesting features of our BlobTree Implicit modelling and animation system. We have also been working on crackingalgorithms which has led to a physicallyplausible simulation of the batik process.  Creative use of the distance transform algorithm makes for aesthetically pleasing cracks.

A new approach to fast implicit primitive rendering is combined with the crack algorithm to produce an interactive wax painting algorithm.   Recent work with artist, Arlene Stamp, has led to some interesting illustrated in this talk.

Bio:

Brian Wyvill obtained his PhD in the mid-1970's at Bradford University in the Uk. A post-doc at the Royal College of Art led  to early animation work for the film, Alien. He emigrated to Canada in 1981 and is now a full professor at the University of Calgary where he developed the BlobTree implicit modelling system and with Dr. Prusinkiewicz, directs the GraphicsJungle research group.
