Searching the Web and accessing local multimedia resources, e.g. personal music, photo or video collections, has become an every day task. However, the currently available tools for searching and organization still provide only very limited support with respect to interactive structuring and visualization. In this talk, first a motivation for the need to develop information systems which focus on user specific support in every step of the interaction process is given. Then approaches are discussed that tackle specific problems of this process, especially methods to structure and visualize sets of text and multimedia objects using user specific interests as well as structural information extracted from ontologies.
