ABSTRACT In this talk, we will articulate research opportunities and challenges in terms of Future Internet design, as influenced by emerging optical technologies and networks. Our emphasis will NOT be about technologies or narrowly-focused research. Instead, the talk will be about the broad perspective of how these technologies -- and their expected rapid development -- might affect the larger overall network architecture, and vice versa.
