The libsmi-0.4.5.zip file on the ftp server is not meant as a source tree. Grab that .tar file to get the sources or go directly to the subversion repository.
Can some kind sould tell me where I can find this file?
The file is automagically created with a Unix shell script. You should however find it in a source tar ball.
