This thread seems to be getting a bit to long !!! But, I am sorry to say that the problem persists with the pre0.4.1 code that you sent me. It works fine with 0.3.1 though!!!
Am attaching the binary I compiled on my machine for smiquery. This still displays the language as SMIv1.

Since the problem does not show up for me (even after building the 0.4.pre-1 snapshot that I sent you on a Solaris8 system), I am a bit clueless. If you want to debug it yourself, please take a look at lib/parser-smi.y at the block starting at line 1629 (matches regexp "^import:"). Maybe adding some debugging output there could help to narrow the reason for the wrong behaviour.
